OFFICIAL RULES
1. Absolutely no talking about this game anywhere except in this thread or in the designated quick topics, unless your role states you are allowed to do so. Anyone found guilty of doing so will be mod-killed and it will make you look like a giant arsehole to the rest of the community.
2. Once you’re dead you’re dead – NO MORE POSTING EXCEPT IN A QUICKTOPIC FOR DEAD PLAYERS!
3. No quoting PMs at all for any reason. Any questions, PM the moderator, and I'll be happy to answer them.
4. No talking at night. You’ll get one warning, but if you do it again, you will be mod-killed.
5. Do not character-claim under any circumstances. You will be mod-killed if you do. As far as role-claiming goes, strictly speaking it is not prohibited, but you should think about the pros and cons of doing so before you actually do it.
6. Under no circumstances are you allowed to edit your posts. I will be strict on this matter: do it once and you will lose your day and/or and night powers for a full day/night cycle (it's role dependent, and I will decide the penalty on a case by case basis). Do it a second time and you lose all powers for the rest of the game. If you're stupid enough to do it three times, you will be mod-killed. If you need to amend something post again with the abbreviation EBWOP (Edit By Way Of Post) as the title in the body of the message.
6A. If you post when you are silenced (or if you post first before reading a message saying you were silenced), you have 10 minutes from the time your post was made to delete it without penalty. Mistakes happen, but they need to be rectified immediately. If you do not delete your post, you lose all powers for the following night phase, and will continue to be silenced for the next day phase as well. If you do it twice, you will be mod-killed.
6B. Additionally, no liking or disliking posts. I'll follow a similar penalty structure as above: One infraction means a temporary loss of powers, two means loss of powers for the duration of the game, three means a mod-kill.
7. All posts must consist entirely of visible letters. Do not use text that needs to be highlighted to read, or is too small to be read, or involves any sort of nonsense that makes life difficult. You can code your messages/post pictures/links/videos, but do it sensibly. Speaking of coding, characters highlighted in green in write-ups are town. Characters highlighted in red are Mafia. Characters highlighted in purple, if any, are third-party. Characters highlighted in white/normal coloring are there strictly for the write-up, and are not actually occupied by players in the game.
8. When voting, please do so in bold, e.g. Vote: Smith. Unvoting should be done in the same manner, but I will count unvoting if it isn’t in bold. If you change your vote, please try to prefix it with an unvote. It’s not essential, it just helps me to keep everything organized.
9. You’re not dead unless I say you are. Until I confirm a lynch feel free to continue the discussion. (New Players: once the ‘hammer’ has been dropped a lynch cannot be undone by unvoting.)
10. Days last 72 hours, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF DAY ONE, WHICH LASTS 48 HOURS. Nights last 24 hours, during which you submit night actions. If I receive all night actions early I may end the night prematurely. This is at my discretion and/or convenience. Mod-kills due to inactivity will happen during the night. Mod-kills due to rule breaking will end the day and go into the night.
11. Days and Nights begin and end when I say they do. Sometimes they may overrun for RL reasons, but adhere to the rules about day and night phases until I confirm transition to the next phase.
12. Please submit night actions by PM with a title that states the night your action pertains to, e.g. ‘Mafia Night #1 Action’. Again, this helps me to stay organized. For the benefit of any new players, do not submit night actions in the game thread. You won’t be punished for it, but you won’t do yourself any favors.
13. You don’t have to confirm your role, but feel free to do so. PM me if you haven’t received your role information, or if you have any questions about it. I’m repeating myself here, but do not ask the moderator role-specific questions in the game thread.
14. I expect you to be active. The game will not survive without activity, so get stuck in. If you know you'll be away from a computer for a certain period of time and may miss a day or night period, just let me know via PM, and as long as you post when you can, no problem. If you are inactive for a full day phase without notifying me of real-life reasons, I will prod you. If you have a night action and do not submit it by the deadline after being prodded, you will be mod-killed. If you don't have a night action, you have until the night period is over to get back to me, otherwise you will be mod-killed.
15. Do not post in this thread if your name is NOT on the players list.
16. Remember, it is just a game. I applaud aggressive play, but I will not stand for that crossing over into personal attacks in either this thread or associated quick topics. If you cross the line once, you will be warned privately and lose any night actions you have that night. If you do it twice, you will be mod-killed. Long story short: Keep the game fun!
17. I reserve the right to change any of these rules as I see fit without notice.
