Prologue
Well, the nerves are gone. I still got it. That’s good to know. Made quick work of Khaos, some monster. Really, he comes out to Metallica, this dude would have fit right in ECW before it closed. I dunno if I grabbed President Jeff’s attention while he was down here, guess I’m just gonna have to make him come back down here.

We open the scene outside of a warehouse in Philadelphia. The warehouse has a white sheet over the front of it, hiding something behind it.There is a stage with a podium outside of the warehouse with three seats to either side of the podium. On the end of the stage are speakers on tall stands. There is a crowd of people including the media. There is a limo to the right side of the stage and town car to the right. Surrounding the stage are several men dress in black with earpieces, showing that they are a security team of some sort, but for who, we don’t know. After several minutes as the crowd gets settled, the cameras set up around the stage and the microphones of several news outlets are set up on the podium, a man comes up to the main podium mic and taps it to make sure it is working properly.
Random.Fellow Ah, welcome to this event. Your all probably wondering why you’ve been told about this event, some of you may know, but, first, I’d like to welcome the Mayor of Philadelphia, Mayor Michael Nutter.
The crowd cheers as the door to a limo opens up and out comes a security team member that leads the mayor to the podium. As he gets to the podium another security team member comes down out of the limo and stands next to Mayor Nutter.
Philadelphia.Mayor Michael.Nutter Thank you. I’d like to welcome you all here today. A few months ago, this great city lost an icon in Joe Fraizer. A man who gave back to a community until the community didn’t want anymore. Smokin’ Joe embodied everything this city is about: toughness, grit, heart. There is another one of our own that embodies Philadelphia. Another man from the City of Brotherly Love that felt the loss just like us; but felt something else. He felt that he needed to step up as a guiding light for the youth, a man who could offer a way a life that may have not been available before, a role model for those who feel like it’s either the streets or nothing else. May I please welcome, current Action Packed Wrestling Megastar, “The Soul of Philly” TJ!
The crowd cheers again as the back door to the town car opens up as TJ steps out from the car. He stretches as his large frame was confined in the town car, his upper body well above the car. He pats his suit down to fix it. He makes his way up to the podium while he is being followed by Raj and an elderly man. TJ shakes the hand of the mayor as they pose for a photo-op before continuing. He signals to the crowd to quiet down as if he were in a ring.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ Thank you. Wow, sounds like I’m in the ring. Ah, where to start? Well, first I wanna thank Mr. Mayor Nutter for that introduction and for taking the time out of his day to be here. Then, I wanna thank you all for being here without a fair notice ahead of time. I really didn’t think it was necessary until my best friend, Roger Gings over here…
TJ points to Raj, wearing plain ol’ black suit with a red tie.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ So I guess what I’ll reveal why we’re all here. Ah, as Mayor Nutter said, when Joe Fraizer died, I felt a connection to him, I never really met him outside of city functions, and we only talked once, but what we talked about echoed in his last days and the days after he passed away. We talked about this city and how the youth of today really don’t have a choice between violence on the street. We both talked about how today, the failures of the public school system have forced the hands of these kids. We talked about his gym and how, even if they didn’t come to box, Joe opened his doors for them to hang out and learn about life. It was then I thought of the man that trained me, Ernest Walters to my left here.
He motions to Ernest, who waves to the crowd in a grey suit with a yellow tie.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ Ernie as I’ve called him for the last thirteen years, helped me through some rough patches of my life. Helped me start a career choice, and when I fell off the road to the career, he came by and helped me back on it. Ernie had a gym of his own before a bout with cancer two years ago forced him to close the gym, but eleven years ago, that gym of his was my haven from violence. It wasn’t as bad as it is today back then, but that doesn’t mean it was easy.
He shakes his head.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ I’m sorry, I’m running off topic. When Smokin’ Joe passed, I felt that I had to step up and do something to give the kids somewhere to go when they feel there isn’t somewhere to go. I want to give them what Ernie gave me. That’s why, with cooperation from the city, I found this empty warehouse. Formerly a condemned building due to years of neglect, it was fixed up to my liking. I oversaw this project like it was my child, because that’s how much this means to me. So, without out further ado, Mr. Mayor, care to join me?
Mayor Michael Nutter gets up and stands next to TJ.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ Without further ado…
Philadelphia.Mayor Michael.Nutter We proudly reveal…
They throw their hands back towards the warehouse and the white sheet falls, revealing a black and red front with white lettering above the door reading, “Philly’s Gym,” as the crowd applauds, a few even roaring with approval.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ Philly’s Gym. Where our young youth, both girls and boys, can come here to get away from social pressures they may be dealing with. We will not only offer a place of training in either boxing or wrestling and a place for physical activity, but a place for kids to come and vent about life, ask about life, learn about life. And, no disrespect to the teacher out there, but kids don’t get what they need for life in school. They don’t. They don’t learn the things that my gym will teach them. How to deal with life, how to balance their time effectively, and how to live life to the fullest. I just don’t claim to be “The Soul of Philly”, I strive to be it. Now, I’d love to answer some questions, but that’s why Mayor Nutter is here. I feel bad, but I really have to go. Thanks again and good day all.
TJ, Raj and Ernie get up and head for the town car as Ernie and Raj head to the backseat and TJ goes to the passenger door. They drive away as the scene fades to black…..

A Couple Days Later…
We open the scene inside of Philly’s Gym and there are a few men working out on the weights, two men in the ring boxing each other, working on their moves and overseeing it all, is “The Soul of Philly” TJ. He stands above the gym from his office. He walks back over to his desk where we shift from the outside of his office to the inside of his office.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ Been a hell of a week. I get my first APW win, came home and opened up this gym, got some members and people who want to learn the ropes. It’s all going great now. If you would have told me ten years ago that this is where my life would be, a mildly successful wrestler with my own gym in the city, and fans all over the place, I would tell you you’re crazy. I mean, you’d be telling me from across a piece of glass and through a phone, but I’d still call you crazy. And you’d call me a criminal, because that’s what I was.
He sits down behind his desk.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJI’m not lying. I was in jail for attacking a coworker for making snide comments about my younger sister, after enough jokes and enough warnings; I threw him through a wall. I spent four years in prison, I should have only spent one, but I didn’t care anymore. I had hit rock bottom and didn’t feel like climbing back up. But my past made me who I am today, so I can’t be all mad right? My past made me the person I am today, the wrestle I am today. Everything I did played a part in where I find myself today.
He slides his chair back and goes into a drawer of his desk and grabs a stack of papers. He puts them in front of him, standing up showing a contract for APW, his contract is seems.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ Where I find myself today is a member of Action Packed Wrestling. Where I find myself today is a Monday Night Meltdown Megastar. Where I find myself is prepping for a match against Dita Morgan, a woman who is recently trying to cope with her past. Look, Dita, I know how it feels to have a past that should be shameful of, but look; there ain’t shit you can do to change it. You need to worry about the present and the future, of your wrestling career at least. I mean, let’s start with the obvious, I’m an entire foot taller than you and more than 150 pounds more than you. I won’t sell you short, you’re gonna be faster than me, more agile, and all that fun stuff. And we all know, that normally is good enough to win a match against regular wrestler. But Dita, sweetie, I’m not just a regular wrestler. I’m ooooooh so much more than that. You see, I’ve been around for awhile now, I know what all you speedy little guys and girls have to do to beat me: tire me out, get me off my feet, keep me down as best as you can.
He gets up and walks around the desk and sits down.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ And you think you know what I’m gonna do, attack, attack, attack. I’m smart, I’m only gonna attack once, one time, one shot right in that pretty lil’ face of yours. That’s all its gonna take to put you down long enough for me to hit the Soulbuster and pin you; one, two, three. Like I said, I’m not a regular wrestler. I’m not your average giant. I think AND attack. Not just one or the other, both, at the same time. I am not regular; I am greatness in its truest form. I am your nightmares in their physical forms. Dita, I am “The SOOOOOOOUUUUUULLLLLLL of Philly”. Monday, Dita, you get to be my next victim.
TJ smiles and turns back around to sit at his desk as the scene fades to black.
