Hello!
It's once again my turn to mod and the theme I have chosen this time is;
Road Rash 3
An old school SEGA Genesis racing game that I've loved since a child, the player has to race from point A to point B of increasingly long tracks (as you progress up the levels, the races become longer and thus you win more money) to win money and races and rise to the top of this elite pack of illegal street racers. Along the way you must buy and upgrade your bikes, dodge bizarre obstacles and aggressive, weapon wielding competitors as well evading the ever present police looking to ram you off the road.
It also featured a wicked rocking soundtrack in 16 bit (Seriously, go listen to that shit) that was way ahead of it's time for the console it was on.
Double bass pedal drums on a SEGA Genesis, whut whuuuut?), an awesome ambience, cool weapons and quite possibly the earliest known incarnation of the Daniel Bryan Yes Chant with sky pointing all form one awesome package of a racing game that I hold very dear to my childhood.
So how can I draw theme and characters from such a primitive game? Each of your rival racers has different names and racing styles and after each race one of them (along with a picture) will have a text comment within which to praise you for winning or make fun of you for losing. This sets the groundwork for some of the characters personalities but there's some blanks where racers don't talk. I've tried to incorporate as many of the personalities as I can but where there's blanks I've used a fair amount of imagination to fill it in so the game won't be completely predictable.
As standard with the Callahan games, severe modification of stylistic features (and roles) will be used and hopefully we can run this game a lot smoother than it did last time.
Before we get started, I'd like to ask that somebody (a seasoned Mafia runner) sit this game out not to co-mod but simply to assess the format I have for the sake of balance. Last time I utilised too many power roles for the scum team and don't wish to jeopardise my game again so if anyone would like to volunteer to help with balancing duties I'd be extremely grateful.
Otherwise? Feel free to sign up.
I've specifically chosen this theme to make researching the game a pain in the ass. Though if anyone wishes to play the game it's available from a number of sites for free on an emulator.
One thing I'm absolutely adamant this time is the limit that there has to be 15 players in the game. Anyone signing up surplus will be held as replacements. This is for the sake of balancing.
