Action Packed Wrestling, huh? That is the big leagues people will tell you. It is the kind of company that will make or break your career too from what I hear. It is the kind of place where wrestlers either fade off into nothingness or they become a big fucking star. It was the kind of company you dream of joining from the first time you lace up your boots and here I am. I fucking made it to the dance. Will I make it? Or will I be another forgotten member of the roster who people forget about over time? I don't fucking know, honestly. I want to be a star. I want to be the next big name but in the end nobody can make any promises. Nobody can control how things play out totally. But you gotta make your own fate as best you can and if I fail at this then I'll have nothing else. This is it. This is my one chance.
And as soon as the ink was dried on my contract I had a match set-up. I was already being pushed straight into the fire and I know that this first match might be my most important. If I win then I'll be the chick who beat two people in her debut match. That is something people notice. Not just the fans either. You win a match like this and the people in the back notice too. The champions all start to pay attention and the staff realize they might have someone who matters on their hands. This kind of match as I said will make you or break you.
One of my opponents is a lot like me but with a really stupid name. I mean I think is stuck in 2002 or something and Lil Jon is still popular because he calls himself Krunk. That is just stupid if you ask me but besides the dumb name he has been around APW for a bit already. He is the established name in this match therefore he is the one to beat. He is the one with the target on his back because if you can pin a guy who has been around it matters ten times more then pinning some rookie nobody girl like me or Jayden. But like I said he is a lot like me. Hell, he is from the same state as me and he lived a life a lot like mine. He knows what it is like to struggle to survive which I think will give him an edge in the ring. I mean when you have to fight to live then fighting to win comes easy.
Krunk is the powerhouse of this match though. He is dangerous because he is so much bigger then me or Jayden. He can do more damage with one punch then I can with a few moves. I'm aware of all this but I'll still get right in his face and I won't back down. I never back down, no matter how big or how strong my opponent is. I'm not afraid of Krunk and even though we are both from Washington I don't feel there is any reason for me to hold back. He is a big boy and he should be able to survive against two girls. Right Krunk? Or are you scared? I mean you gotta be doubting yourself after your last match. You show any doubt in the ring with me though I promise you that you'll pay for it.
Then there is Jayden Carmichael or the Ice Storm as she calls herself. Why the Ice Storm? Don't ask me. She is all cold and powerful? I don't know much about her except that she is a rookie and she is in this match. Yeah, I read that she has family in this business but that doesn't matter because the only one who will be in that ring is her and her family can't help her. I get that Jayden probably wants this as badly as I do though. This is her big break and she'll do anything to win I imagine but I don't think she can do it.
Why not? Because Jayden doesn't know what it is like having to live from day to day wondering where you will sleep or where you will eat. She doesn't know how hard life can be so she doesn't appreciate how good she has it being in this ring in APW. It is a privilege to be inside that ring and I appreciate it all. I appreciate the ropes, the turnbuckles and the damn mat. I worked my ass off to be in APW and I won't let a damn Ice Storm slow me down. But I'm curious to see what Jayden can do and what she brings.
Sadly in the end only one of us three can win though. Only one of us will leave San Francisco with a victory. It would be nice of we could all get the fame, the recognition and the glory of victory but it can't be shared. This isn't a team event. This is three people doing everything in their power to win… Well at least I'll be doing everything in my power to win. You want to beat me then you need to make sure I'm knocked out because if I'm not then I'll keep coming and coming. I clawed my way into this company and I'll claw my way to my first victory. I'll bleed, I'll sweat, I'll cry if I have to but I must find a way to win.
Win or die.

It all started two weeks ago. Calico was in Seattle, her hometown and the only place she really felt comfortable besides a wrestling ring. She was crashing at a friend's place when she heard the knocking on the door. Calico didn't think much of it because she wasn't expecting anyone. Her body was sore too from the night before. She had some match inside a small bar on Capital Hill and while it wasn't much of a challenge it turned out to be more brutal then she expected. She sat on the couch, the one she had been sleeping on when she was in town for the past three months, and took a sip from her beer. It was already noon so she figured it was late enough to start drinking. She shifted in her seat as she stared down at the magazine in her lap.
BETSY BRANT: Calico! There is someone here for you, honey.
Her head rose up as she looked across the room at a bit confused. She pushed herself up to her feet, she had on a pair of black boy shorts and a black tank top with an upside down cross printed on it. The closer she got to the door the more confused she was too. Standing there was not only some guy she thought she might recognize but behind him was a camera man for some reason. Calico pushed her hair out of her face a bit, taking a quick swig from her beer before throwing the bottle off to the side and walking up to the door as her friend, Betsy, headed off to get ready for work.
CALICO: Can I help you guys? If you are looking for a handy I don't do that shit no more.
She grinned a bit at her comment but the men both seemed a bit confused by it. The guy who wasn't holding the camera cleared his throat and took a step forward with a smile.
SHANE WEST: Hello Miss Conners.
CALICO: My name is Calico. I don't go by my last name anymore.
SHANE WEST: I'm sorry. Well hello Calico, I'm Shane West from Action Packed Wrestling. I was sent here to offer you a contract. You are a hard woman to track down so I thought I would come here personally.
CALICO: Yeah… I don't like being on the grid. But is this a joke? I mean seriously I don't have time for some stupid prank. In fact if this is a joke and I find out before you walk away I'm going to smash your face into that curb down there.
Shane looked a bit shocked and he shook his head, holding his hands up to try to make sure Calico understood that he wasn't joking. She glared at him with an eyebrow raised wondering what he was going to say or do.
SHANE WEST: I assure you this is for real Calico. I mean I found you through a promotor you work for around here and he gave me this address and said you usually stay here. I tried the number we had for you but it went to a pay phone somewhere. Don't you have a cell phone?
CALICO: Nah, can't afford it right now. I told you I don't like being on the grid… But you are serious that APW wants to sign my ass to a contract?
SHANE WEST: I am. We want to bring you on to the Meltdown program and have you test your skills against the other stars of tomorrow.
CALICO: That is a cheesy line, dude… Are you sure you aren't fucking with me though? I mean I've seen my matches and I've seen the kind of chicks who make it in APW and I don't think I'm one of them. I don't exactly match up with the idle face for TV.
SHANE WEST: I assure you that we are looking for you and this is serious. APW is expanding all the time and we want you. We have a show coming up in a few weeks and a couple of other newcomers for you to test your skills against. Then we will book you from there based on how you do.
Calico stared at him for a second, no expression on her face as she tried to figure out if she hated this guy or if he might actually be for real. She did recognize him and if he was on APW that would make sense. She nodded her head once and bit down on her bottom lip.
CALICO: So… What do I need to do?
SHANE WEST: You are in? Outstanding! I'll get you a plane ticket to San Francisco booked for the 4th of August. All you need to do is go to the airport and pick it up then we will get you your contract signed and have your debut match that next night.
CALICO: Sounds legit.
SHANE WEST: Do you have an e-mail we can maybe write you for the ticket information?
CALICO: Yeah… Give me your hand.
Without letting Shane even react Calico grabbed his hand and pulled a pen off of the table next to the door. Calico quickly wrote her e-mail address down on the forearm of Shane West, who looked a bit confused. She then threw the pen down and smirked.
CALICO: There you go.
SHANE WEST: Uh… Thanks. I am looking forward to seeing you in San Francisco where Johnny Diamond will talk to you about the details of your contract.
CALICO: Sure but if this turns out to be bullshit I promise you I'll hunt your ass down.
SHANE WEST: It is not. I swear to God this is the real deal. Congrats on the contract, Calico.
CALICO: Thanks…
Calico slammed the door shut in Shane's face. She turned, still a bit confused over what just happened and if it was real. She had been wanting a job with a company like Action Packed Wrestling since she had started wrestling. It was her dream and now it was coming true? Good things didn't normally happen to her so it was a bit hard to swallow. As soon stood there trying to process everything that happened Betsy walked in wearing her scrubs for work.
BETSY BRANT: What's wrong?
CALICO: Nothing… Those dude just offered me a contract for APW. I'm flying to San Francisco in a few weeks for my first match.
BETSY BRANT: That's great! I mean that is what you've wanted, right?
CALICO: Yeah… It is fucking great. Just seems too good to be true.
BETSY BRANT: I told you good things would start happening for you, Cali. We are going to celebrate when I get off work! We can go get some drinks and dinner on me. This is amazing. I'm so happy for you!
Betsy ran up, hugging Calico who patted her friend on the back. Betsy was a bit hyper for Calico's taste but they had been friends for years and years and Betsy always had Calico's back no matter what she went through or what crap she pulled.
BETSY BRANT: I'm going to work. You going to be okay?
CALICO: Yeah… For once I think I will be okay. This is crazy, Bets. I mean they want to put my ass on TV and everything. Damn. This is too good to be true.
Betsy smiled and hugged Calico once more before heading out the door. Calico stood there for a second, shaking her head before looking down and realizing that she might of been on TV in just her underwear and a tank top. She shrugged before going to get in the shower. It was a big moment and now she had to get ready, physically and mentally for whatever lay ahead of her next. APW was the big leagues and she knew if it was real that she was in for the challenge of a lifetime.
