Today happened to be a rather bright and sunny day. It happened to be so nice outside that a man by the name of Ryan Collins decided to engage in a golf game on his own private golf course with some good buddies of his. Collins was on the verge of teeing off when a golf cart with an old man with white air and a butler like outfit came pulling up next to Collins. He didn’t appear to be too happy with being interrupted as the old man pulled himself out of the golf cart with a cell phone in hand.
“Mr. Collins sir, I have a phone call that might be some importance to you.”
“Can’t you see that I am busy here Alfred? Who could possibly be on the phone that is so important it would pull me away from my golf game?”
“It is President Jeff of Action Packed Wrestling. It seems that there is some business that the two of you need to discuss.[/i]”
Collins wasted little to no time at all placing his golf club down and then removing one of his gloves. He took the phone away from his personal help and lifted it up to his ear. With an ever so big grin feature Collins began to engage in conversation with the beloved President of APW.
“Hello there President Jeff, how may I help you on this fine day?[/i]”
…
“You’re reporting me to Meltdown? Sir with all due respect upon signing a deal with APW I made it specifically clear that I wanted to be on apart of Overdrive. That is the star brand and I myself am a star. It logically makes sense that I would be placed there.[/i]”
…
“Oh the contra Jeff, I do have a choice you see. I could easily opt out of my contract with your fine wrestling establishment. I could easily take my talents elsewhere. That wouldn’t be a good thing for you as you’d be out of quite a bit of money right off the bat when it came to the signing bonus I request and you granted upon me putting my John Hancock down on the dotted line.[/i]”
…
“Ha sue me? That’s a good one sir. However I tell you what if this is the way you’re going to do business. Then I’ll go ahead and bite for now. I’ll prove that I am a fair man. I’ll prove I have no problem doing business but that is only because I have no problem proving how good I am. I’ll have one match on Meltdown and it’ll blow everyone else on that roster out of the water and you’ll instantly want to bring me up to Overdrive where I truly belong.[/i]”
…
“Really now? My debut match has been booked eh? I like the way you have your people on top of things around there. If you don’t mind me asking though who am I facing in this match? Anyone worth my time? Maybe someone I might know?[/i]”
…
“Tommy Bartlett and Ace Andrews? I cannot say that I have heard of either one of these men. Although it really doesn’t matter in rather or not I have or have not heart of them. Either way though sir, you go ahead and tell Mr. Diamond that I shall see him this Monday night when I report for the match. Make it clear that I will not accept anything less than perfection when it comes to my arrival. I expect a welcoming party that has never been seen before.[/i]”
…
“Good day to you as well Jeff.[/i]”
Collins then pulled the cell phone away from his ear and hit the end call button. He handed over the cell phone back to Alfred before slipping his golf glove right back onto his hand and picking up his club. On which case he turned his attention over to Alfred once again in order to essentially bark out an order that needed to be completed.
“Alfred, go back to the house this once and pack up for me. Upon doing so I want you to pack up for yourself as well.[/i]”
“Well what would I be doing that for sir?[/i]”
“Come on now Alfred, don’t you be foolish. I am not about to leave for a few days without having you around. I will not lower myself to having common like folk handle my daily routines. It would only get screwed up and that is unacceptable. You are the only man I trust so take that as compliment and go do as I said.[/i]”
“Yes sir.[/i]”
Alfred said no more as he got right back inside the golf cart and slowly pulled off headed back to the house. Collins couldn’t help but smirk a little to himself as he approached the tee where his ball sat awaiting to continue the game. It had been a year and half since Collins had been in a wrestling ring after suffering an injury that many said he’d never come back from. It truly felt like the great accomplishment to defy odds and refuse to be part of statistic. Collins then proceeded to smack the ball as hard as he could driving it down the course returning to his everyday life while he could anyway.
An Instantly Classic Production[/center]
Cue cameras opening up to feature a wrestling ring in what appeared to be in a basement of a rather expensive house. In the middle of that wrestling ring was the focal point of all of this and it was the focal point due to Ryan Collins standing there smack dab in the middle. He had that charming yet annoying smile spread across his lips. Just then those lips spread apart as the young man began speaking.
“Hello there once again APW World. It has been a few days since you have all had the chance to hear from me. At the same time there is also a good chance that none of you saw the first video to my debut to APW. That is fine though you are the ones at fault when it comes to depriving yourself at witnessing a true instant classic.[/i]”
Arrogance was a big part of who Collins was in the past. It had become quite clear it was going to be a big part of who he was here in the present and most likely the future as well. We got this vibe we were going to be hearing a lot of self-gloating from this man for a rather long time.
“Good news however is this Monday night in Toronto-Ontario, Canada it would be impossible for the fans in attendance that night to ignore the classic you see before you now. It will be impossible for them to deny true greatness and it is impossible because it’ll be taking place right before their very eyes. That is correct I will be on hand this Monday night for Meltdown and yes I will be in action. I know you common people are going to be so excited for that.[/i]”
He could be considered quite the troll at times. There was no indication at all that a single APW fan or as he referred to them as common people that showed excitement for his debut. There wasn’t even any sig that fans were actually interested in the guy at all and judging by his attitude. He didn’t come off as the type of person fans would support in the least bit.
“I make the ever so waited debut to APW and my personal ever so waited return to the wrestling ring in a Triple Threat match. I’ll be climbing into the ring with two gentlemen who happen to be known as Ace Andrews and Tommy Bartlett. Upon hearing about the match I didn’t know a single thing about either man. To be quite honest my first impression was that the two of them had generic names which meant they were like generic wrestlers with no personality and no real talent. I even thought that the two of them were being put in the ring with me just so I could win. It wasn’t until I did some research and found out these two men are legit meant to pose some kind of challenge to me.[/i]”
Collins let out a little chuckle. That pretty much implied that he found something humorous in the most sarcastic ways. We were getting this vibe that it actually had something to do with the match he was speaking about. More so actually having to do with his opponents Collins had done proven himself to be a big mouth so it wouldn’t surprise anyone when he spilled the beans on himself.
“Tommy Bartlett: He happens to be your typical big man when you think professional wrestling. He has that body builder like body. He has the height of a giant. He is meant to have that strength that would squash you like a bug. Basically when you think about it Bartlett is a professional wrestling company owner’s wet dream of what a wrestler should look like and what they should be like once they step through these ropes. Unfortunately these people won’t step out of their nineteen eighty mind frames and actually get with the times of today.[/i]”
He proceeded to shake his head from side to side. It was kind of pathetic in his eyes that people were still stuck in those times. However it was always said that you can’t teach an old dog new tricks and that certainly applied to the world of professional wrestling.
“Bartlett might be a big guy and he might be everything that a professional is meant to be. However the times have changed drastically. Not to mention you people have certainly heard the phrase the bigger they are the harder they fall. On top of all that folks it is a proven statistic that when someone is that big that their brain capacity is rather small. That right there gives me all the advantage in the world over Bartlett. I might not be as big as he is but all I need to do is be smarter than he is and I am. Bartlett is basically now my personal bitch. No matter what he does in the ring. I’ll prove to be smart enough to be one step ahead of him. That one step ahead is going to be the key factor in me getting a win and the key factor in me proving that no matter how big someone is physically the brain will always and forever be the strongest muscle that someone has. Sorry about the hand you were dealt there Bartlett but I am a man of intelligence and I will use the hand that was dealt to me in order to favor myself.[/i]”
Not so much trash talking going on right about now. Instead it seemed that Collins was sticking with a subtle approach in which he used facts to rip down Bartlett. Nothing wrong with that at all especially considering the fact that it worked and it happened to be that much more effective seeing as it was true statements rather than just stuff flying out of his mouth.
“Then of course there is Ace Andrews the other man in this match. I have to say when I did my research I was a bit blown out of the water. I realized that Andrews wasn’t just some new kid to the business. I come to understand he was a veteran of this sport whom happened to have a rather impressive resume. On top of that Andrews seems to have some roots that run deep with the current APW Undisputed Champion Terry Marvin. Seems the two of them know each other and it would seem as if Marvin is responsible for Andrews’s status here in APW. In fact Marvin is endorsing Andrews and claiming he is the future of this company.[/i]”
It was apparently the ‘in-thing’ now days to be endorsed by bigger names on bigger brands. Maybe that was Andrews way of attempting to get to the main brand faster by having friends in high places. Truth be told though he was no different than Collins. He too would have to pay his dues and earn his way there much like Mr. Instant Classic would have to do so as well.
“Quite the unintelligent champion we have. Let’s get one thing straight right off the bat. It isn’t about how big your resume is. It isn’t about how impressive it is. It isn’t even about what you have done in the past. You could be a frigging twenty seven time heavyweight champion but it doesn’t mean jack the moment you walk through those doors and become a member of this roster. Secondly I understand that wrestling has always been a thing of politics. However Andrews needs to understand when you step into the ring with me. I don’t care who you know, who supports you, or anything like that. All I care about is what I want and what I want is to win. So anything that Andrews wants is non-existent. Anything that Andrew’s friends say hold no importance and it is clearly going to come down to a battle of just which one us is better than the other. I think it is quite obvious which one of us that is.[/i]”
He looked right at the cameras proceeding to give a little wink. It didn’t take a genius to figure what Collins was trying to imply at that moment. It had been made obvious this entire time he saw himself as something great. No surprise that he believed he was the better out of the three of them. However it was about showing it rather than just saying it.
“It is going to be time where the two of you have to face the reality of a situation. Trust I know that the two of you want to win and that you want to make one hell of an impact within APW. The reality is though it isn’t in the cards. The reality is that there is only going to be one person in that entire match that is talented. There is only one person in that match that is determined to be the next big thing on not only Meltdown but in the company as a whole. There is only one guy that is going to go on to be a multi-time Heavyweight Champion and eventually become a future APW Hall of Famer. You people are looking at that man right now. You don’t have to believe me. You don’t have to support me. Do and say as you please folks but in the end I’ll be right and you’ll be wrong. Because that’s the way of the world and that’s what happens when someone like me was born to be successful.[/i]”
There was that arrogant nature coming out in him again. The arrogant nature that was slowly but surely rubbing people the wrong way. No sooner than he stepped out behind those curtains on Monday night. All hell would break loose and the fans would hate him for all that he is worth. Not to mention his opponents likely would want to make him eat his words but he’d find a way to back his statements up.
“From this moment on I am the new face of APW. Every single thing I do will be talked about for years. Everything I touch will literally turn to gold. I will lift this company onto my shoulders and I will carry it to new heights that it has never even dreamed of being on. Essentially I’ll turn APW into the hottest thing in the wrestling world and when I do. You all owe me a rather large thank you.[/i]”
Collins seemed so sure of himself. His statements could be considered bland and they could even be considered lame. It is much similar to things that other superstars have said but in the end failed because they didn’t have what it took to do it. Regardless though there’d be no getting through that thick skull of Collins. He saw things how he saw them. He made up his mind and that’s all there was to it. Now it was a matter of seeing if the supposed Instant Classic would sink or swim. Here is where the cameras cute their cut off with the last image shown being Collins just standing there smirking with evil and arrogant intentions in mind.
“Mr. Collins sir, I have a phone call that might be some importance to you.”
“Can’t you see that I am busy here Alfred? Who could possibly be on the phone that is so important it would pull me away from my golf game?”
