"It doesn't take a hero to order men into battle. It takes a hero to be one of those men who goes into battle." - Norman Schwarzkopf
One week after the hellacious street fight that transpired in the heart of Quebec City, Niobe has risen above the mangled mess that was Robina and the table that she was driven through to be victorious and gaining the Brit's respect once and for all. The feud that the two had been in for the past few months was finally over. Now with that behind her, Niobe is looking to move on to bigger and better things in her future, including a possible North American Title shot down the road. But first in Ontario, the next step in the tag-team tournament finals stands in her way. She's being paired with the suddenly quiet Trevor Hyatt to battle Tommy Knoxville and Buckson Gooch to advance in this tournament. Can the quiet one and the Nightmare go to work on this one?
Niobe pulled the hoodie down over her head as she stood at the viewing point on Luna Island just overlooking the splendor that was Niagara Falls, scanning the waters flowing down to their source as she put another scoop of ice cream into her mouth, chewing on it thoughtfully. To the passerby she looked like a short girl wearing a black hoodie with the 'Walking Dead' logo on the back, standing with a taller man wearing some TapOut hoodie eating the same kind of ice cream. To the two of them, they were just friends enjoying each others company here in Ontario. She had decided to drag her friend Xavier along with her for this journey, since they were still within Candian limits and he had taken extra time off of work just to be with her.
She didn't really feel like being alone out here at the moment. Xavier didn't mind tagging along. In his words, it was 'to keep you out of trouble'. Like there was any trouble she could get into at the moment. No fans around, no cameras, no interviewers to deal with. It was great. Everyone should experience this kind of peace once in a while.
"Bet your glad to stretch your limbs and get out of your hotel room huh?"
"Yeah, as much as I like being a lazy potato, I do like getting up once in a while to do something."
"So why come here of all places?"
Niobe glanced at him out of the corner of her eye, snorting a little at that comment.
"Why not? It's a famous landmark, there's a big crowd usually here, and I've always wanted to see it. You learn about this shit in school and you want to see it when you get older. At least the weather is cooperating today."
"Yeah, I know." He paused for a second. "Not looking forward to going back to work after my vacation is up. I've had fun kicking back and hanging with you. Got to see things I never thought I would see, ever."
"Glad you've had fun so far. Hang with me and I will take you places you've never been before. It will be a shame when you have to leave. I won't have your company around. Actually liked this time that we've had. Being on the road so much doesn't afford me to stop in at home as much as I'd like to see people. So thanks for taking the time out to hang with me."
"You're welcome." There was another pause. "People are really talking about you in a new light after that match last week. You've really changed people's perception about you."
"I hope so. Maybe now people will look at me in a serious light. I'm a contender, a fighter, everything that you would want to see in a future champion. Considering going for a title shot in the future, maybe the North American belt."
"That's a big dream to fulfill. What about what you've got going on this week? Some tag match you have going on?"
"Yeah, they're pairing me with Trevor Hyatt to take on Tommy Knoxville and Buckson Gooch."
"Interesting. You think you've got this?"
"Oh yeah, definately. I got this in the bag. If me and Hyatt can keep those two boys down for the count then we can move on in the tournament. Hyatt's the wild card though, quiet man, haven't heard much from him lately. Though I am torn about this match in another way."
"What do you mean?"
"Rumor has it that Tommy Knoxville has a thing for me. Guy's crushing big time on the Nightmare." Niobe said with a small smile, a blush rising on her cheeks.
"Cute. Hey if things don't go well, you could always ask him out to dinner or drinks."
"Not a bad idea, though I think Tommy might get the jump on me in that department."
The two laughed as the scene slowly faded to black.
It rose again with Niobe sitting in the middle of an oak tree. The branches coming down to form a sort of 'palm' for her to sit in. She glanced at the ground where there was a small fire roaring as she shuffled a couple pictures around in her hands.
"I think after last week's match, people are looking at me in a whole different light. They are seeing me as not just this small packaged woman anymore, but a true contender to the gold around here. As Buckson would put it, 'I"m as skilled as I am violent.' I like that. Has a nice ring to it. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Tonight's all about the semi-final match for the tag team titles. They're pairing me with Trevor Hyatt, who is a bit on the silent side of things. But he is a second generation wrestler, with a mouth on him to boot.
I'm going to enjoy partnering with him to take on you two. You two have been causing a bit of a ruckus around here as well, all kinds of trouble. But for whatever reason, you two managed to just barely squeak out a win over Megan Andrews and Evan McDonald. Good one. You two have your hopes up to go on and face the Natural Born Killaz.
Well we have that same hope as well. Hyatt and myself have the same chances as you do, if not better. I mean the Nightmare and a man such as Trevor together in the ring together will spell success. It will be us moving on. Southern Comfort will meet a Nightmare, and we'll see who comes out victorious.
See you two there, especially you...Tommy Knoxville."
Niobe smiles and winks at the camera, throwing the picture of the Gooch into the fire while holding onto the one of Tommy.
