::As she often does before a show, Amy Zing, soon to be the newest member to the Overdrive roster, is walking around the interior of the Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile. She is watching the ring crew set up for Monday Night Meltdown.::
::This one she is especially watching as it will be her last. At the end of the night, she will no longer be a part of Meltdown. She will instead be getting ready to make a flight to Panama City, Panama to face Michael Lively in her debut as a member of Overdrive, the flagship show of Action Packed Wrestling.::
::She has spent the week doing promotional work around the city as well as touring, since this is the first time she’s ever been to South America. Today though, she has been at the arena since it opened.::
::“The Hong Kong Sensation” is dressed in a pair of shorts, a APW logo t-shirt and sneakers. She looks around the arena. She is very early. The ring crew has just started getting the ring up. The set is little more than the base of the entrance at the moment. The extra chairs are being set in place.::
“This is a time of firsts and at the same time, lasts for me.”
“I competed at my first Rasslemania. It would have been nice to have won the match and become North American Champion, but I feel okay with how the match went. I mean, I feel like I got that Rasslemania moment when I hit the Fenghuang Kick on the ladder. That was pretty good I thought.”
“However, in what would turn out to be my last attempt to win the title, I didn’t win the North American Championship. That was a little disappointing.”
::She shrugs a bit.::
“I suppose the third time wasn’t the charm. But, this week will hopefully start me on other opportunities and maybe one of them is in the cards.”
“The ladder match at Rasslemania was a hard fought match. Whether you like him or not, the Guv’Nor earned that win. So, I have to congratulate him. It was a hard fought win and the match could have gone so many different ways. You definitely earned it.”
“This week marks APW being the first wrestling company to ever host a show in Chile at the Movistar Arena in Santiago. And I personally think that it’s really awesome. It’s a great opportunity for Action Packed Wrestling and a great chance to bring the action of the APW to a whole new group of fans.”
::Amy looks towards the entrance way, which is still being constructed. The screens and entry way have been built. It is starting to look like the set she has walked through every Monday night since Ocotber/November.::
“But at the same time, this will be the last time I appear on Monday Night Meltdown."
“I don’t really know why or how or any of the reasons behind it, but somehow, I have been drafted to the APW’s main show of Overdrive. To say I am surprised is an understatement. I really didn’t think anyone thought I was ready to be drafted. I mean, I’ve had a few good weeks, but I’m pretty sure I’ve lost a few more matches than I won. Now I’m going to Overdrive. That is, well just huge.”
“It’s kind of sad and exciting, thrilling and terrifying, and all kinds of emotions and feeling. I debuted in Action Packed Wrestling at One Night in Hell back in October. After that, I made my Monday Night Meltdown debut on November 5th and have been part of the show ever since. Granted not a huge part of the show, but I’ve still been on the show. Though I suppose I could say my time as part of Meltdown was somewhat bittersweet. I don’t know if that is the right word or not. Roller coaster might be more accurate. There have been definite highs, like most of my matches, getting to kick Sienna Harrison in the head and being in the Ladder match at Rasslemania. Definitely been some lows too like all that unpleasant business with Young Mannie and Sienna Harrison and getting fired and all that nonsense. So yeah, I guess roller coaster would be an accurate summation of my Monday Night Meltdown experience. Though I suppose something like that was to be expected, though not to the extent of something like what happened with Young Mannie or Sienna Harrison. That was just....”
::As she does every time she starts to ramble, she closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. She exhales slowly, then opens her eyes.
“So yes, anyway, as of next week, I am on Overdrive. And as I also said, I am feeling a lot of different emotions like sadness and joy, because while Overdrive marks the start of a new chapter for me, I am a bit sad that I never did win the North American Championship despite all the times I tried. Thrilling because I am looking at new challenges and new opportunities, but terrifying at the same time, because I have no idea what any of those challenges are going to be, but at the same time, it’s also an exciting feeling.”
::There is not a real sound of sorrow in her voice. It is more like she’s accepted this and realizes she cannot change it or anything. There is almost a matter-of-fact sort of tone to her voice.::
“What I don’t feel a sense of this being a goodbye. Everyone is acting like it is for some reason. I mean, yes, I am leaving Monday Night Meltdown and going to Overdrive. But I am still an Action Packed Wrestling Megastar. That is not changing. The only change is the show I am on. I know my fans will follow me on Overdrive just like they did on Monday Night Meltdown, because my fans have followed me and stuck by me through everything. They will continue to do so as I move from Meltdown to Overdrive.”
“I mean honestly, I cannot for the life of me imagine someone who has watched me on Monday Night Meltdown now absolutely to watch me because I have been moved to Overdrive. That doesn’t really make much sense to me. I see this more as a “see you later” sort of situation.”
“But while it does not feel more like a “see you later” instead of goodbye, I am still leaving Monday Night Meltdown and I am supposed to make a farewell address. Don’t really get why though. Like I said, pretty sure all the people who cheered me on Monday Night Meltdown will continue to do so when I move to Overdrive. And I am pretty sure the fans in Argentina didn’t pay and all the people around the world who will be watching at home just to hear me talk.”
::The former Playboy covergirl looks out towards the empty seats in the Movistar Arena. The folding chairs set up at ringside are still being unfolded and put in place.::
“No, they came to see me in that ring. They came to see me do whatever it is I do.”
::Her eyes move over the thousands of empty seats in the Movisar Arena.::
“What words can I possibly say to them? What inspirational insight or witty commentary can I make? It’s not that I am not grateful to have been on Monday Night Meltdown. Far from it, despite all that happened. Meltdown was a launching board for a lot of great Megastars in the APW. My issue is that I fail to see any merit in some long farewell address that will essentially boil down to “goodbye Monday Night Meltdown, I hope you all tune in to watch me on Overdrive”. It strikes me as somewhat of an empty gesture really.”
::She smiles, shaking her head.::
“That is not the type of farewell I want to give.”
::Brushing a loose strand of hair from her face, Amy nods.::
“No, the farewell I want to give to Monday Night Meltdown and all the great fans watching either inside the arena or at home around the world is the same way I first said hello. I want to go out to that ring and give all the fans who bought tickets to see Meltdown live or are watching at home something to talk about.”
::Her gaze turns towards the ring. The four ringposts have been set in place. The skeleton of the ring, its most bare bones parts have been built. It is starting to come together.::
“So my farewell address will be walking out one last time on Monday Night Meltdown, stepping into the ring and facing Robina Hood in a no disqualification match showing Meltdown one last time why I am simply Amy Zing.”
::Closing her eyes, “the Hong Kong Sensation” lowers her head a bit and smiles, as if amused.::
“This somehow seems fitting, my last match on Meltdown being against you, Sienna Harrison’s handpicked Megastar, her new “chosen one” as it were. There are so many reasons why I get that you sold out Robina. I really do in some strange way understand it. Given your background, that one person coming to you, filling your head with praise and so forth, if Sienna Harrison had you wrapped around her finger any tighter, she’d probably lose blood to it. But, you are the puppet she needs, not the one she wants.”
::She opens her eyes and looks up a bit. Behind her the entrance set of Monday Night Meltdown has been competed.::
“Have you ever seen the Star Wars movies? I don’t mean the Original Trilogy. I mean the new ones, the Prequel Trilogy, not the Sequel Trilogy Disney will be making obviously. See, the reason I ask is because your current situation with Sienna reminds me of a certain aspect of the Prequels in that apprentices are replaceable. She’s Palpatine, you’re whoever it’s convenient to have as a minion right now.”
“Think about it.”
“First, there was Young Mannie, and she did everything to keep him from being fired, protected him, and helped him achieve a goal, which was the same goal as her and Alexander Duval of getting the North American Championship off Logan Alexander. However, at the same time, he was a little too difficult to control. Sure, at first his attacking me was acceptable, but his being a total coward who kept proving he was more bark than bite, who had to rely on others to help him, such as hiring a bodyguard to protect him from me or to help him win, or needing her to keep him safe from major repercussions that his actions lead to were not exactly what she wanted in her “chosen one”.”
“Look at it. He attacked me, I attacked his uncle and she punishes me. He abducts my parents, she punishes me. He challenges for the North American Championship, she gets Kaylyn James Evans to interfere in the match, and again when he defends it against me. But, as soon as he is drafted, all that support and protection go away.”
“But by then, she was already poisoning your mind. It’s sort of like how Palpatine had Count Dooku as a minion, but at the same time, was poisoning Anakin Skywalker’s mind to eventually turn him to the Dark Side.”
“Okay, yeah, it’s not a perfect analogy, but I think it is a fair one.”
“I am not really sure there is one though. It fits though. You’re what she needs now, but not what she wants. She probably has prospective “chosen ones” lined up and is just waiting to see if there’s a decent replacement out there before she gets rid of you, or just adds someone else to the fold and then forces you out or has you compete against each other.”
::She stops, looking as if she is trying to think of something. She slides her hand through her long hair.::
“Hmmm…attack dog might also be a good description for you Robina. That’d be based more how you act more than anything else though.”
::She still has that lost in thought look on her face. She shrugs and turns to the ring, which is still being built. The ring looks like it is mostly completed, but the banners and canvas are still not in place. It looks more like a skinned ring than a ring.::
“It is like the second you got here Robina, you and Niobe Martin developed issues and Sienna somehow developed a problem with her as well. So she just starting using you to take on the people she had issues with. In that regard, you are more like say, Darth Maul. You are the weapon she uses to strike down those who oppose her. Despite whatever she says, she sees you as nothing more than a tool to strike down those who oppose or annoy her. That’s all you are. You’ll never be anything more than that to her.”
“Deep down, you know this. Yet you continue to serve her.”
“Sienna randomly develops issues with Niboe Martin and keeps placing you in matches with her. She agrees to face me in the ring and yet, out of the entire Meltdown roster, the one person she decides to put in my way is you. You were to be the roadblock to keep her safe, something you failed to do though.”
“However, I will give Sienna credit. She chose her tool well. Robina Hood, you are a tough and fierce competitor. Our ladder match nearly three weeks ago was nothing short of a war. From start to finish, we took each other too the limit and beyond. But in the end, I just wanted it a bit more than you. Still, I take nothing away from you Robina. Every time you step out into that bring, you bring your best.”
“And all of that is probably why Sienna Harrison has scheduled my last match to be against you, and added the no disqualification stipulation. I guess her farewell to me is you attempting to kick my ass on my final Meltdown.”
::She sighs and shakes her head, like she is disappointed in Robina somehow, or like she knows nothing she says will change Robina from being in Sienna’s influence. But that look is soon replaced with a focus and desire to so what it is that she does. She sounds rather excited.::
“Well that’s fine with me. Win, lose or draw, she gets her wish as this is my last Monday Night Meltdown. No matter the outcome, when that bell rings and our match is over, I’m going to Overdrive. But Robina, you should know that I am not going without a fight. I proved it in our first encounter, and again at Rasslemania, that as long as I can physically stand, I will keep on fighting until I cannot stand. This week, my final Meltdown, I will prove it again. I don’t care what you bring, be it chairs, kendo sticks, pipes, whatever, this phoenix is going out in a blaze of glory.”
::Amy turns and starts to walk to the back as the banners are tied around the ring. Two bear the logo of the APW while the other two have the logo of Monday Night Meltdown. She stops at the top of the ramp and points to the ring.::
“My farewell to Sienna Harrison, you Robina, and all the fans, crew and people on Monday Night Mayhem will be to go out to ring and for the last time on this stage, I will show everyone why I am simply Amy Zing.”
::Amy lowers her arm and takes one last look at the inside of the crew setting up before she turns and walks to the back.::
“Robina, I will see you Monday.”
::The scene fades to black as she walks into the back.::
::This one she is especially watching as it will be her last. At the end of the night, she will no longer be a part of Meltdown.
