”Christ either deceived mankind by conscious fraud, or He was Himself deluded and self-deceived, or He was Divine. There is no getting out of this trilemma. It is inexorable." – Rabbi John Duncan
{{The scene opens to the inside of the Calvary Christian High School auditorium in Clearwater, FL. It is the day of commencement for high school seniors and the school has enlisted Anthony Bailey, a graduate from the class of 2008, as the keynote speaker for the ceremony. The processional is in motion as the platform party, faculty, and Anthony Bailey himself walk onto the stage and the graduates slowly march into the auditorium after them. After the graduates have their seats Dave Bonchi, the Dean of Students, wearing fine academic regalia approaches the podium placed in the center of the stage. His presence enables him to quiet down the students and their families and friends in attendance. Softly, he begins to speak}}
Dave Bonchi: Good evening and welcome to the official graduation ceremony Calvary Christian High School’s class of 2013.
{{A few cheers are initiated around the auditorium.}}
Tonight marks the end of a chapter but the beginning of a new one. You all have made my job here as the Dean of Students pleasant and I look forward to seeing what God has in store for each and every one of you in the future.
{{Mr. Bonchi is applauded.}}
Most graduation ceremonies will encourage you to remain quiet because it interferes with the flow of the ceremony, but here at Calvary Christian, we urge you to make some noise for our graduates because this is such a landmark event in their lives. But we only urge that noise at the appropriate times of course….
{{Laughter fills the air as Bonchi himself snickers.}}
But without further ado, we’d like to bring out a very special guest at this time. This young man was in your very same position only five short years ago and has gone on to achieve great things and proves that dreams really do come true. Just work hard and let God handle the rest and you’ll be fine. Ladies and gentlemen, presenting one of our very own…APW megastar Anthony Bailey.
{{Bailey, clad in a black Oxxford suit, approaches the podium sporting a huge smile. Flash photography becomes conspicuous as Bailey shakes Bonchi’s hand and then turns to face the leaders of tomorrow. Bailey slowly begins to speak.}}
Anthony Bailey: Welcome and good evening!
{{Bailey is greeted with numerous cheers and applause.}}
It is a privilege to be here with you all this evening. For those of you who don’t know me, my line of work is very demanding and very time consuming. Right now as a matter of fact, I should be packing and getting ready for my trip to Sao Paulo, Brazil but who could pass up this opportunity to be before such lovely faces?
{{The graduates smile at Bailey’s heartfelt words.}}
{{Bailey, being a fan of eloquent oration, knew that he couldn’t utilize his normal vocabulary in the midst of such a young audience. Cognitively they were all probably capable of understanding the words that he was about to speak, but he didn’t want his diction to have the possibility of going over their heads. He wanted them to comprehend every word of his regarding their future.}}
Preparation for Sao Paulo can wait but these words cannot. After walking across this stage, being handed your high school diploma, and posing for a picture what’s next? What is this thing called the “real world” that has been drilled inside of your brains for these past four years? Is it really all that scary? I can assure you that it’s not, but that doesn’t mean that things will automatically come easy for you. Continue to dream and aspire to achieve against the odds. Continue to dream in a world marked by pessimism and economic woes and foreign turmoil. Aspire to go higher in this world where people will constantly say you are unable to…
{{The scene slowly fades out as Bailey continues to speak and shifts to Bailey, who is now standing in the vacated parking lot of his former high school. The sun has set and Bailey is seen gazing over the very grounds where his love for the sport of wrestling was cultivated. Staring into the camera, he begins to speak once again.}}
Michael Lively, if I had to describe our match together tomorrow night, this would be your Garden of Gethsemane. Don't be alarmed once you begin to sweat drops of blood after a misconception of The Promise being a customary cakewalk. The only difference is that for the authentic Jesus, the garden was only a test of his faith. He wanted the cup of his Father's wrath to pass from him but it wasn't his will to do. Your garden, our match at Asylum, will be a test of your character. A test that you are unable to prepare for. Unfortunately, this test has no syllabus and no preview. And since I am your professor, it'll take a miracle for you to pass.
Christmas tree this thing if you want to Lively, but I will take advantage of your vulnerability. Like your compadre Jason Kash has become a mastermind at...manipulating the situation for his own selfish gain. Except the outcome for tomorrow, mainly referring to your defeat, isn’t for my own personal gain. It isn’t so I can boost my own ego or recoil to the old “I told you so” card, though that card has been played against Foul Play time after time like Cyndi Lauper. It is so I can humble you. Jesus was the epitome of humility and you Lively don’t possess one shred of it. I know that the Jesus references are in danger of becoming redundant, but if you have built a career on this moniker then I will all my time in front of this camera to liquidate that self proclaimed alias.
Does the name Simon Magus mean anything to you, Lively? How about Dositheos the Samaritan? Or what about Arnold Potter? All of these men shared two of your most common traits…they were all liars and lunatics. False claimants of the messiah that have been repressed and forgotten over the succession of time. Sure you have made waves in the wrestling world these past few years, but what happens when all of that has expired and your time is up? One tragic motorcycle accident and you were on the brink of becoming a faded memory, so what about tomorrow? What happens when you and I finally standing face to face?
To me, Foul Play is the evil trinity from the book of Revelation in the Holy Bible. You have the beast, the false prophet, and the antichrist. Reaver is the beast, Kash is the false prophet because he’s known for spewing countless lies, and you Lively are the antichrist. The fate of the beast and the antichrist wound up being cast into the lake of fire in chapter nineteen verse twenty, but the fate of the antichrist is unspoken. Though I am not the type of person to ruin the ending for anyone but here’s a little spoiler alert…your fate will be sealed by me. It is unwritten in the pages of the Good Book because God himself has left it up to me to pen the final pages of the Michael Lively memoirs.
When has evil ever triumphed over good? Maybe in your sick concocted world that’s how things work, but in reality, the cookie crumbles in a totally different direction. Good always prevails…always. You can’t triumph Lively and it’s not because you aren’t good enough. You are a great inside of that ring but you can’t succeed because dishonesty falls flat on its face. It has no legs to stand on but truth…truth sustains itself. The truth of Anthony Bailey will overcome because that’s what truth is meant to do. The falsehood of a man running around with Jason Kash proclaiming to be Jesus will finally be put to rest before the very eyes of APW. As five hundred eye witnesses saw the resurrection of Jesus in the New Testament, countless more will witness the demise of YOUR Jesus, Michael Lively. And in case you failed to recollect, I am Anthony Bailey…APW’s only Promise…the only Promise that can't be broken. Until tomorrow night…
