::In Helsinki, Finland, the capital as well as the economic and cultural center of Finland, the current reigning APW North American Champion “the Hong Kong Sensation” Amy Zing is seated in the green room of a popular Finnish morning show. Dressed in a pair of heels and a nice, sensible dress that is not too revealing, but is not overly conservative, and her hair down, she is seated on a nice couch with the APW North American Championship next to her. The room is rather nice, with a sofa and two chairs surrounding a coffee table. One the table is muffin basket. A half eaten muffin sits on a small plate. Amy is holding a glass of water.::
“I suppose, knowing that the fatal fourway match at One Night in Hell is gong to happen, that this tag team match was bound to happen. It makes sense when you think about it. I mean we have already seen me versus Kaylyn James Evans and Shione Ōshima versus Robina Hood and probably will see a few other combinations like maybe Shione and me having a match or Robina versus Kaylyn or me versus Robina again, which I would look forward to, so the idea of myself and Shione versus Robina and Kaylyn in a tag team match seems like it was bound to happen before One Night in Hell. And it looks like it is happening this week.”
::Amy places a napkin on the table and sets the glass down on it.::
“One of the things I keep hearing about is that champions going into One Night in Hell are trying to gain momentum heading into the pay-per-view. While the APW Tag Team Champions, the Dying Breed, may not be choosing the stipulation of their match, and I know how that feels, they still have the momentum going in. Terry Marvin has been on a roll as he has been defending the title every week since Shockwave it seems. I think maybe it is safe to say I have been on something of a roll since winning the North American Championship. Honestly though, I have never been one to believe in the idea of momentum or it somehow being a magical force that can grant someone a victory. My win/loss record is probably terrible. I think it is safe to say that I lost more matches than I won. And, honestly, I have maybe had two or three what could be called “big wins” since coming here prior to becoming a champion.”
::Amy pauses as she realizes that she is starting to ramble. She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. Exhaling slowly, she opens her eyes and gets to her feet. She paces a bit.::
“Momentum was not what helped me win the North American Championship and it will not help me retain it. I win or lose based on my heart, my willingness to keep getting up and fight, my refusal to surrender and my confidence in my skill and ability. Some night, that heart, will and confidence just are not enough to get the job done, and some nights it is.”
::Her eyes glance at the APW North American Championship seated on the couch.::
“And then there are those nights when everything just comes together and you pull off that one victory that makes history, the win that makes all the pain, sacrifice, heartache, blood, sweat and tears worth it.”
“I could lose every match from winning the North American Championship until One Night in Hell, have no momentum going into the pay-per-view and I would still fight like hell to keep this title. Even if that is not the case, I promise you that Kaylyn, Robina and Shione would have to nearly bloody kill me to take this championship from me.”
::Amy sighs and shakes her head.::
“If momentum dictated wins and loses, then Shione and I are the only two who are likely to walk out of One Night in Hell as a champion.”
“People can say that I am on a roll, and maybe I am. They can say I am trying to gain momentum going into One Night in Hell in Japan, but that is not the case. I mean it is nice to have momentum and be one something of a roll as it is rare that it happens to me, but again, it is not the case.”
::She glances at the championship again.::
“I want to prove I deserve to be a champion. I keep pushing myself, trying to win to prove that while I may have won this championship, I deserve to hold it. I want to prove that I am good enough to hold the North American Championship to myself and all my fans.”
“This may sound arrogant, and I will admit it, but I think it is safe to say that the fans like me. Despite the numerous times I have failed them or let them down, they still cheer me. For my entire career they have stuck with me. They have supported me just as much with every loss and all the downs my career has had just as strongly as they do when I win and I am up. And the night I became a champion, they cheered louder than they have ever cheered for me. I want to prove to them that I am the champion they always believed I could be.”
“Now maybe that drive is gaining me momentum as we head into One Night in Hell, but I really cannot say. As I said, I have never really concerned myself with the idea of momentum and what not. I know that no matter how big of a roll a person can be on, it will always end.”
::“The Hong Kong Sensation” sits on the sofa and picks the title up, looking at the championship’s plate which now bares her name on the nameplate.::
“Sooner or later, I will lose this championship. I know that. It is a fact of life in wrestling that I think every champion accepts when they become a champion. It is a given that every championship reign ends at some point. At One Night in Hell, I have three challengers and about a 25 percent chance of retaining the title, but I am going to fight like hell to keep it. Though, honestly, I would love a chance to defend the title before One Night in Hell. I mean, I hope we are going to China at some point before then and I would love to defend this title there.”
::She makes a face.::
“Did that sound nationalist or wrong?”
::She shrugs and allows herself a smile.::
“But before that happens, if it even does, I have this match, and I am really looking forward to it to be honest.”
::Amy sighs. It is not a frustrated sigh or an annoyed sigh. It is just a sigh.::
“Shione, since you debuted, you and I have become friends. I respect your ability in the ring and I would like to think that the feeling is mutual. You have strength, speed and some aerial offense mixed with the will to prove yourself. You keep on fighting and I respect that. There is no denying that you have been on a bit of a roll as of late, and hope that you and I can keep that going this week.”
“I am very curious to see what the two of us could do when teaming together. This is our first time as a team, and the same can be said for Robina Hood and Kaylyn James Evans, so should be interesting.”
“Truth be told Shione, I am looking forward to facing you at One Night in Hell. I think we have a few similarities that would make any match we have really fantastic. I want to face you in that ring Shione. I honestly hope, regardless of the outcome of who wins or loses, after it is all said and done, win, lose or draw, that we can still remain friends. I’d hate for a title to come between us, though I have seen it happen a few times, not to me or any of my friends, but still, I have seen it happen. I hope it does not happen to us.”
“Still, I think you and I could have a fantastic match. I am definitely looking forward to seeing what you can do in the ring at Once Night in Hell and this week on Overdrive when we team up, up close and personal.”
“Who knows? Maybe this could lead to us forming a tag team and maybe one day becoming Tag Team Champions, or we just crash and burn here at Overdrive, wrestle at One Night in Hell and the title comes between our friendship. I think I like that first option better, because the second one just doesn’t sound as good to me. The both of us have been on rolls lately, gaining momentum, so let’s see if that hold with combined efforts.”
“Now, this is the first time Shione and I have teamed up, but we are friends. We get along. This is the first time you Robina and Kaylyn have teamed up, but I know you two are not friends or even really on speaking terms.”
::Leaning back in her seat and holding the title to her stomach, she leans her head back, looking at the ceiling.::
“Three years ago, if someone told me that I would beat Kaylyn James Evans, one of the greatest Women’s Champions in the history of American Championship Wrestling, I would have told that person that they were wrong. Now, I hold two singles wins over someone I consider the best I have been in the ring with, and even I am surprised I have them.”
“I know, Kaylyn, that you do not consider me in your league, or on the same level as you. People look at you and they see “the Perfect Ten”, one of the best to ever step into the ring. I am Amy Zing, that girl that never gives up despite her lackluster win/loss record that somehow finds herself a champion. And yet somehow, despite that, whatever you opinion of me is, you have never beaten me Kaylyn.”
::She lifts her head back, looking forward.::
“Now I am not saying those victories were easy. Kaylyn, you took me to my limit and somehow I eked out a win. I am not going to say that you are not in my league or that you are not at my level, because I know sooner or later, maybe this week or even at One Night in Hell, you will probably beat me. However, I think it is safe to say that you may need to reconsider your opinion of my skill and ability. Kaylyn, I know how good you are, but I think I have proven how good I am. I have every intention of proving it to you again this week here in Helsinki.”
::Slowly, Amy raises the title and looks at the plate again, smiling at the championship.::
“I have found myself wondering something Robina. I wonder what just vexes you more; the fact that you lost the North American Championship or the fact that you lost it to me?”
::She sounds a little angry as she speaks.::
“You can talk about how long it took you win the North American Championship, all the struggles, the trials and all the tribulations you went through to win the title all you want. The simple fact of the matter, Robina, is that you were groomed by Sienna Harrison to be her “Perfect Megastar”, her champion, the person she built the Meltdown brand around after the disappointment Young Mannie turned out to be. For you, it was never a matter of if you would win the title, but when. That was not the case with me. No, Sienna, for some unknown reason, just hated me and held me back or found ways to protect her then “chosen one” Mannie. I struggled to win this title Robina. You were groomed for it, but I pulled myself up to become champion.”
::The tone of her voice returns to her normal tone.::
“I know how you feel about me Robina. I know you do not respect me. I know you hate me and the fact that the fans cheer for me. No one on Overdrive knows you in the ring like I do. Every single time we have stepped foot into the ring to face each other we have gone to war. What we have done in the ring can hardly be called wrestling matches. Those were full blown fights. So before One Night in Hell, which I know will be a war, here in Helsinki let us see what we can do at Overdrive.”
::There is a knock on the door and one of the gophers pokes his head in to inform her that it is nearly time for her to go on.::
“Robina, Kaylyn, I have no idea what will happen at One Night in Hell, whether I walk out as champion or not. However, I know what will happen at Thursday Night Overdrive. I am going to that ring and I ma going to show you and all the fans in Helsinki why I am simple Amy Zing.”
::Taking the straps apart and getting to her feet, Amy shoulders the APW North American Championship and heads to the door.::
“So good luck and I will see you two Thursday.”
::Opening the door, she steps through as the scene fades to black.::
“I suppose, knowing that the fatal fourway match at One Night in Hell is gong to happen, that this tag team match was bound to happen. It makes sense when you think about it.
