I'm tired of this shit! I've got way too much going on, and I need a fresh start. It's time to leave... ...to leave New York for California, that is. Many of you know that I've been dealing with a separation/divorce of late (it still sucks, but I'm doing better than I was when I posted about it in July). As a result of the soul-searching that ensued in the weeks following that chain of events, I sent my resume around a few places, and one of those places bit. I've accepted a job with HRTV, a horse racing television station based out of Santa Anita Race Track in southern California (specifically Arcadia, about 45 minutes northeast of Los Angeles). I'll be producing videos for their website, mainly, as well as having my hand in a number of other things. It's a big decision, and I'm a little nervous about the cross-country move and leaving the state I've lived in for almost 25 years, but I'm confident it's the right move, both professionally and personally. It gives me a fresh start, and plus, me being the degenerate horse racing fan that I am, being at the race track every day won't suck! I'm not moving for a couple of weeks, and I don't foresee this affecting the Smith character or my participation in APW, but I wanted to share the news on the same day that I got it. If any West Coasters out there have any tips on adapting (other than "avoid the earthquake that's a statistical certainty to happen in the next 30 years," of course!), fire away.

I wanna live in California to watch AMA Supercross like 4 or 5 times a year it's on over there. I'm jealous.
Congrats on the new job and good luck for the move to California dude.

He can't go BACK if he's never been...Congrats though Smith, cross country is nervous stuff when you're moving but you've made the choice to improve your surrounding and there is nothing but good things if you're happy with the choice.

Cause Winters are just horrible in California? He's from the East Coast where Winters are close to freezing in some places. I wish winter in Texas was colder but from NY to CA? He'll not miss much at all..haha

The TV show? Nope not in my direction but go ahead with your swag. We've not talked much but you're a worker and a trooper to please everyone from what I've seen and thats proper in my book. Good luck dude for real.
