Dr. Matt has been in the hospital since One Night in Hell ended Sunday Night. Unable to access alcohol and illegal drugs, Dr. Matt has finally come out of his drunken stupor; allowing real doctors to fully assess his injuries. He loss a significant amount of blood due to a gash in his forehead, and had to receive several transfusions. The wound required 22 stitches to close. His entire body is bruised from his tumble from the top of the chamber. He did not break any bones, however, which the doctors called "miraculous".
The worse news, though, is that Dr. Matt's neck appears to be in critical condition. Dr. Matt had his neck broke a little over 4 years ago by Trevor Blackwell. He received neck fusion surgery, but he was told to take it easy since his neck would only hold up if he lived a normal lifestyle. Dr. Matt is experiencing numbness in his extremities, which is a sign of serious nerve damage. He may have had this problem for a long time, yet his alcoholism most likely masked the symptoms. Whether or not he was already having problems, doctors have been reviewing footage and noticed Dr. Matt carried himself - physically - in a different manner after receiving the Canadian Destroyer from Spirit onto the steel floor of the chamber.
Dr. Matt has not yet received medical clearance to wrestle, and while APW President Hurricane Jeff has agreed to at least keep Hardcore as Hell out of action this week, he may soon want his childhood friend back in the ring. Dr. Matt merchandise has been sold out since the Elimination Chamber, and production has been tripled to keep up with the demand. Dr. Matt has returned to the public's consciousness, and Hurricane Jeff will surely want to capitalize.
Word backstage is that Dr. Matt may be in line for a one-on-one title shot against the man that threw him from the top of the chamber, Sabur, but rumours like this can also be made up to swerve internet fans.
What is known for sure, though, is that Dr. Matt believes his injuries is nothing "a bottle of Josack can't fix". When asked what "Josack" is, Dr. Matt replied "Jose Cuervo and Jack Daniels mixed together in an old gasoline jug."
