Those who have known me for a long period of time will tell you I'm a pretty reliable sort. I've never once no-showed when booked, I've never been late writing a match, and I'm usually around to pick up some extra slack. All of that makes the next few paragraphs very, very difficult.
I had six pages of Smith-Envi written. I had a vision of this match being an epic blow-off, the kind of match that people love reading and visualizing. Well, earlier today, my Macbook Pro's four-year-old hard drive decided to bite the dust. I was browsing the web, the computer froze, and when it rebooted, it didn't get past the gray startup screen. I went into work (on my day off) and got a diagnosis from our IT guy (who we stole from Apple's Genius Bar) who confirmed my worst fears: There's a 95% or so chance that it's fried and none of the data on it can be recovered.
I'm writing this from a loaner laptop I got from work, and I won't have a new hard drive (that I spent a smooth $190 on) until tomorrow or Thursday. With that in mind, I unfortunately cannot finish a match I was REALLY looking forward to writing (and one I was pretty darned proud of six pages in!). I'm posting here asking if someone, ANYONE, can pick up the slack.
I need to apologize to Jeff, to Dimitri/Envi, and to the APW community at large. I'm no flake, and despite this being pretty far out of my control, that's what I feel like (especially leading up to APW's final show). I'm sorry for the inconvenience, and hopefully someone can pick this match up.
