Cooper Conrad: The Journey Part 1
The Future of the Professional Althete
You’ve got to be kidding me! My father! My grandfather! Are these people nuts? How in the hell could they have never known about Cooper Conrad? That’s just, that’s just ridiculous! Chicago, Illinois gets a lot of media and press everywhere in this damn country, and nobody in Action Packed Wrestling knows of the man that they once said was “the future of the professional athlete”? What has the world come to? Has reality television really taken people over that much? Blinded by the “entertainment” that they call reality television, the news and press are forced to take a backseat, meaning that success stories such as my very own, are never really paid attention to. What a damn shame! I’ve been there, I’ve done that, plain and simple. I’ve went from the top, to the bottom, and found my damn way back up to the top again, and yet when I call Action Packed Wrestling up and tell them that I’m on the market, they act like they could give a rats ass. After what seemed like forever, communications between the APW and myself began to clear, and a relentless attitude on behalf of myself garnered The Chosen One a decent sized contract. How am I supposed to prove to them that I’m “worth it” if they’re not going to give me what I know I’m worth in the first place? But, that’s over with now, and it’s on to doing what I do best, dominating. Truth be told, I’m a winner, nothing more, nothing less. If I want it, I do what I have to do to earn it. If my sights are set on something, that something eventually becomes mine, and that’s how it has always been. Nothing will change. Coming to APW doesn’t mean that my winning days are numbered, it just means that my winning days are going to become, more frequent.
As I sat in my apartment thumbing through status’s of friends on my face book account, the knock on the door that I heard next was, unmistakable to say the least. I knew what he was doing here, he wanted to get to me before I went out and showcased my god-given talents to the world of Action Packed Wrestling. I sat the laptop down and answered the door. The smile on his face overwhelmed me, and his embrace was just as warm as it was when I was a little boy. I grabbed a few beers from the fridge, the old man loves swigging down the brew.
James Conrad: Son, I can’t begin to tell you how proud of you I am. Sitting here with you, today, I really see how far you’ve come. To the surprise of many, you were able to bring yourself back from things that trap young men like you for an entire lifetime. I couldn’t be more proud.
Cooper Conrad: Dad, the past is the past. There’s nothing I can do to change it, and there’s nothing that talking about it can do either. But my future is in APW, and I owe that to you.
It’s true. After I got out, I wasn’t able to look my father in the eye for a long, long time. It hurt me, it hurt me bad. I knew that I had let him down, and I knew that me getting into trouble made his fans look at him differently. The least I could do to repay him was become a success myself. The time is right, and Action Packed Wrestling, is the right place.
Cooper Conrad: A lot has changed in the past 8 years, father. I’m 24 now, I’m a grown man. I’ve learned from my past, and I’ve seen places that I never want to see again. Since I got out, it has been my goal to be better than everyone else again, just like I was before I went in. Action Packed Wrestling is my destiny, and you helped me carve out that destiny.
James Conrad: But the ball is your’s now, kid. It’s up to you from here to decide where you go. All I can say is that I’m proud of the man you’ve become, and I know that you’ll make me proud again and again. You’ve got a lot to live up to, you know. But I know that you’ve got what it takes to be your own man in this business, even surpass the success of your old man someday.
Really? Those are some big shoes to fill. While I might be better than all of the people who sit their fat asses in those seats every night, the old man is one tough act to follow. But hey, I am better than everybody, after all.
Cooper Conrad: You know me, when I see something I want, soon enough I have it. Action Packed Wrestling is what I want, and soon enough the entire company will be singing the praises of The Chosen One. I’m the most exciting talent to hit the market in a long, long time, and it’s time for me to take my rightful place at the top of the professional wrestling mountain! I wont let you down, and I will not fail! My goals are of nothing but success, and I never leave a goal unachieved.
The smile on his face gave me a feeling of satisfaction. He’s the only person in this world who could ever get that out of me, I could care less about anyone else. But he knew, I didn’t even have to say anything. Who knows me better than my father, right? I could sit there and not say a damn word, and the old man would still know that his son was going to dominate Action Packed Wrestling. Why? Because he knows that if he can put money on one thing, it’s that his son, is, and will always be, a winner.
