DWAYNE MATTAIS SIGNS WITH ACTION PACKED WRESTLING®
Pro Wrestling Illustrated (Sports Columnist Jason Azaria)
Greenville SOUTH CAROLINA, January 30th, 2011 (AP) - It can now be confirmed, that after tonights major APW™ pay-per-view Survive & Conquer® that former XHW World Heavyweight Champion and former New Edge Wrestling® alumni, Dwayne Mattais has signed a multi-year contract with APW™ Mattais was in Las Vegas this weekend, although there was no reported sightings around the arena of the "Highlight of the Night"™
Dwayne Mattais was a top star in New Jersey based HXW® before it shut down in 2006, which Mattais reacted to by retiring for almost five years. Mattais returned last Summer, signing a six-month deal with New Edge Wrestling® Sadly for Dwayne, after a scaffold match with "Black Elvis" Mr. Nagacto®, he suffered a severe back injury, believed to be a slipped disc. Mattais never confirmed this, as he has not had a single interview orappearancee since his release from his NEW™ contract.
Wrestlezone.com is reporting that President Jeff has been in discussions with Dwayne'srepresentativess for a couple of months. It was widely speculated that Dwayne would return to wrestling in a non-competitive manner, but from early spoilers it is now almost certain that he will return to the ring in the coming weeks.
The signing of Mattais to APW™ can be looked at as a surprise, many didn't see Mattais returning to wrestling so soon after his injury, which was reported by a wide variation of people to be quite serious. We will stay with our sources for as long as we can, and will correct any mistakes we have allowed slip, but the early advice shows that fans of both "The Highlight of Your Twilight" Dwayne Mattais and Action Packed Wrestling® can look out for his debut and return to professional wrestling in the coming weeks. Possibly as soon, as the upcoming Overdrive®
When I contacted long-time associate and manager of Mattais, Stu Shepard for comment via telephone for answers, he only responded with: "Dwayne has been recuperating for the last couple of months. It is a tough struggle to recover from a slipped disc. He has had many injuries over his time as a professional wrestler. He has lost a lot of blood and shed a lot of tears in that ring. If the reports are true, I know nothing of it. You might be able to get something from Amber, she might know something I don't. It's a possibility Dwayne has thought to himself, that I'm too old to manage. I don't know. All I know is, that if the reports are true and if your source is correct, wrestling just got a real soldier back on its frontline, and his name is Dwayne Mattais."
When we reached Amber Pearson for comment, there was no reply.
