She took a deep drag from the cigarette as she stared out at the ring from backstage, leaning up against a support beam from the stage as she observed the APW house show. She had on a black blouse, unbottoned about halfway to show a fair about of cleavage, with tight black leather pants and knee-high heel boots. She had arrived at the arena about twenty minutes ago and she wandered around, getting a few odd stares from various members of the crew. She had just signed a deal to appear in APW going forward and she wanted to get a feel for the place. They had brought her on to the Asylum side of the company which used to be another smaller company they had bought up. She didn't care much for that though, it was the past and the past was not one of her concerns. The girl was more interested in the future, her future and what laid in store for her. She took another drag from the cigarette before throwing it on the ground, putting it out with her boot before turning around to head into the backstage again.
Her name was Roxy Rayner. She had been working in various companies all over the place for the last few years, making a name forself with her hard hitting style, her hardcore look and an attitude that showed she didn't give a frak about what anyone thought of her. She was from New Mexico originally but lived out of Las Vegas more recently. APW was her way out of being mediocre though. It was a chance for change and as she watched the match in the ring she knew that she could dominate given the right chance. In her mind nothing would hold her back and Roxy Rayner was going to be the future of APW as soon as they put her on television.
When she started backstage though she ran right into a man wearing a suit with a cheesy grin on his face. Standing behind him was a camera man and the sight of the camera made Roxy scowl slightly. Roxy glanced at the man for a second as he held up the microphone he was clutching in his sweaty little hand. He took a breath and stepped towards her, obviously looking to interview her or something. She wasn't exactly ready for that but she wasn't going to back away either. Roxy brushed a stray strand of hair behind her ear as she waited for the man to actually say something. He glanced back at the camera and turned back to her.
SHANE WEST: Hello ladies and gentleman, Shane West here, backstage at one of our APW Live events and I just ran into one of the newest additions to the APW Asylum roster, Miss Roxy Rayner. Thanks for joining us, Roxy.
ROXY RAYNER: Joining you? I'm pretty sure you just walked up to me and started yapping your gums. Now what the hell do you want? I am getting bored already.
SHANE WEST: If this is a bad time we can do this later.
ROXY RAYNER: Did I say it was a bad time? How about you do your damn job and start asking me some questions.
SHANE WEST: Sorry... I just thought. Nevermind. Welcome to APW, Roxy, how does it feel to be apart of the top wrestling promotion in the world today?
Roxy stared at him, completely unimpressed by his question. She was hoping for something clever or original but it seemed Shane West was just another cookie cutter moron who loved the company he worked for.
ROXY RAYNER: The top promotion in the world? I don't know about that but it is one of the bigger ones for sure. Having a lot of money to throw around doesn't make a company good. As for how I feel about being here, I can't really answer that right now. I've been in this building for less then an hour and I was just watching the show. I wasn't impressed though with what I saw. I see a bunch of your typical meathead morons running around like they are some gift to the business. Do you think I would be proud to work with those people? Hell no. They disgust me but on the other hand to make a name for myself in this business I need to work in this company. So even though I may not be a fan of many people on the show and I do despise the corporate crap a large company like this throws at you, I am going to make an impact and I will change the face of Asylum forever the moment I am put in that ring. That is a damn promise.
SHANE WEST: Strong words right there. Don't you think it is kind of bold to make claims like that though? I mean you are the the low man on the totem pole and you have a long way to get to the top.
ROXY RAYNER: I know that. Do I look like a damn idiot? I'll work my way up and I'll earn everything I get. If they don't give me what I want though then people will soon find out that I'm not scared to take what I want. I'm not here to play nice and bat my eyelashes like some bimbos in this business. I'm not scared to bleed, I'm not scared to break any bones and people better expect a fight when they get in my face.
SHANE WEST: For those who are not aware of your work in the indies tell us a bit about yourself.
ROXY RAYNER: No.
SHANE WEST: What? Why not? Don't you want the fans to get to know you before your debut?
ROXY RAYNER: I don't care if the fans know me or not. They can look at Wikipedia if they want to learn about me. It is all on there too, my hometown, my height, my weight, my past accomplishments. It is all there for the world to read of if they really really want to get to know me they can either buy me some drinks and see if they get lucky or piss me off and get to know my fist going into their face. They have plenty of options and I don't need to explain who I am to anyone.
SHANE WEST: Very true. Plus you'll soon have a fantastic profile on the APW website with pictures, videos and more. APW.com, folks, where the wrestling is at your fingertips.
ROXY RAYNER: Did you really just plug the website? That is really pathetic...
Shane was obviously not enjoying the interview as Roxy shook her head with a roll of her eyes. She reached into her pocket pulling out another cigarette and putting it between her lips.
SHANE WEST: You can't do that in here.
ROXY RAYNER: Just shut up and asking your little questions.
SHANE WEST: Alright... Is there any championship in paticular you have your eyes set on on Asylum?
ROXY RAYNER: I hear there is one called the Suicidal Championship, right? I'll probably go for that. I like the name of it. After I get that or the Tap Out or maybe both then I'll go for the top. Either belt is good with me but I'm sure it'll be awhile before I get a shot so I'll just wait and when the moment is right I'll make my move. I wish they would throw me in that Guantlet on Mayhem. I would love to beat those idiots down and walk out my first night as a champion... But I know they want one of their established boys with the belt so as I said, I'll wait until it is my time.
SHANE WEST: Good plan and I'm sure it would be thrilling to see you in that Gauntlet match but the show is already books sadly. Besides the obvious champions is there anyone you are interested in working with or facing in APW?
ROXY RAYNER: I may be working with someone... We'll see. I know some people. I'm no rookie, Seth, I've been in this business a few years and I've been fighting my whole life. I know that on occasion you need someone to have your back and there may be someone I could work with here. I want to fight everyone on the roster from top to bottom. I don't dislike or like anyone more then others at the moment. I'm sure once I'm forced to listening to them blab about themselves during their promos that I'll quickly learn to hate some people though. On the other hand maybe I'll find some like minded people as myself I can get along with... Probably not but stranger things have happened. I think people should know that they have a better chance of pissing me off then impressing me. I'm not going to flirt with them and giggle at their dumb comments like some ring rat slut.
SHANE WEST: Well, Roxy, I'm eager to see you in action as I am sure all the fans want to too. Good luck in your career here and everyone be sure to tune into Asylum after Mayhem to see the newest Megastar, Roxy Rayner, in action!
Seth turned to the camera from the last part with Roxy behind him as she pulled out her lighter and shook her head. Roxy was not really good at making a good first impression with interviews which made it a good thing that she didn't give a crap what people thought of her. The camera man lowered his camera as Roxy put her lighter back in her pocket and Seth turned.
SHANE WEST: I'm sorry to just rush you like that with the camera. I thought you might be leaving and wanted to get a quick word with you.
ROXY RAYNER: You better be sorry. I should of kicked your ass for coming up on me like that. You are lucky I'm in a good mood.
SHANE WEST: Good mood? If this is you in a good mood then I would hate to see you in a bad one.
ROXY RAYNER: Damn right. If I'm in a bad mood then you better keep your cheap suit and your stupid camera out of my face or else something very bad might happen.
Seth's eyes went wide but he was saved as Roxy felt a vibration on her ass. She put her cigarette in her mouth and reached into her back pocket, pulling out her iPhone. She held a finger up to Seth as she picked up on the call.
ROXY RAYNER: Just a second. It is my bitch mom.... Hi Mary.
MARY RAYNER: Did you just call me a bitch to someone?
ROXY RAYNER: Yeah. What do you want?
MARY RAYNER: I saw online that you signed a deal with that Action Packed Wrestling and I wanted to congratulate you on your new job.
ROXY RAYNER: You don't care. You've never been to one of my matches or cared about what I do since I left town. Don't try to butter me up now that I'm actually going to be making money.
MARY RAYNER: It has nothing to do with money. I'm proud of you, Roxanne. I just wasn't sure about you being a wrestler after you ran away from Roswell to Vegas. I miss you though and it is good that I'll be able to see you even if it is on TV.
ROXY RAYNER: Oh god... Give me a damn break. Next you are going to tell me that dad is proud of me too. I don't care, Mary. You never cared about what I do so don't act like you care now. Don't call me again. I have a new job and I'm kind of busy.
Roxy hung her phone up, her good mood quickly fading away. She put her phone back in her pocket and Seth was about to say something to her but Roxy just walked right past him. She took a puff from her cigarette and headed into the main backstage area. Roxy planned on grabbing her stuff and getting out of there. She had seen everything she needed to see and said what she needed to say. It was time to get out of that arena and back to her hotel. Soon her time would come to step in the ring and the world would get to know Roxy Rayner a whole lot better.
