Backstage of Bradley Center - Milwaukee, Wisconsin
August 18, 2011 - 8:40 PM
[As I’m about to turn the corner, I heard a hoofing sound coming from behind me. Right then and there, before I heard the voice that follows it, I knew who that person is trying her best to catch me… it was APW Overdrive’s resident interviewer Hannah Storm. Her voice boomed out the whole hallway as she called out to me.]
Hannah - Tyler! Tyler Graves!
Hannah - Can… I…. get… a… minute… of your time? I just need to ask you a few questions.
Tyler - Ask away.
[She nodded as she let out a deep sigh. Her breathing’s back to normal now.]
Hannah - First off… I know this is on everybody’s mind right now… What happened out there? I mean you are on the verge of winning the match. You have Nathaniel Havok in the fireman’s carry and you were about to hit him with the Lights Out when that insanity happened…
Tyler - Insanity?? What insanity are you talking about, Hannah?
Hannah - You walking out of the match. That was insanity. You were about the win the match but you let Havok ago and you left. What was that about?
Tyler - That was not insanity, Hannah…
[She stared at me with a hard yet confuse stare.]
Hannah - No?
Tyler - No. That was an act of emancipation.
[Now she looked more confuse.]
Hannah - Emancipation? From what?
Tyler - It’s more like who.
Tyler - Those cretins that plagued the arenas worldwide. You know? Those so-called wrestling fans.
[She looked more confuse.]
Hannah - What? Why? What did they ever do to you?
Tyler - How would I explain this to you, Hannah? How would your rotten mind understand that what I did here tonight was not only for me but for the others who are just like I am a few minutes ago, still continues to listen to these idiotic fans and put their bodies on the line for them, yet these fuckers does not get satisfied no matter how hard we throw our bodies around inside the squared circle? How would you understand that what I did here tonight is a way to open the eyes of some of those ignorant wrestlers who don’t see what those fans really are?
[My eyes glared on her as I can feel that she’s getting more afraid for her safety. She looked at me like I’m this psycho who will tear her head off if she say anything that I may deem wrong. I smirked at her coldly.]
Tyler - See Hannah, the fans will be the death of us. Contrary to their belief, the fans will be the death of this sport, of this business or whatever the fuck you want to call it.
Tyler - Someone has to do it, Hannah. If no one can stop the fans from abusing these wrestlers who leave their families behind three hundred days a year just to ply their trade, then someone should stop those same wrestlers from getting abused by these fans. Someone has to teach them that these fans are nothing but leeches sucking you dry of your life.
Tyler - Someone has to do it… And that man is me.
[With that said, I turned my back to Hannah Storm and turned the corner leaving Hannah Storm standing there as she tried to digest what I just told her.]
