*Jeff's Office*
Receptionist: For the last time...no, means no, Nick.
Nick: Oh come on...just let me in for a second, I'm sure the boss man wants to see his future Undisputed champion in person.
Receptionist: He is too busy to be bothered by a rookie with an oversized ego.
Nick: That's not the only part of me that is oversized, Jacky.
"Jacky": Yeah, the head on your shoulders is a bit oversized as well, and also...stop calling me Jacky! My name is Jacqueline.
Nick: Sorry, Jack...
She glared at me coldly, so coldly in fact that I felt like maybe if I uttered the name Jacky again I would be stabbed more times than a Roman Soldier fighting a Gaul in ancient Europe.
Nick: eline....see I can say your name right, now come one Jacqueline, please do me this favor and let me in.
"Jacky": I'm sorry, Nick, but the boss is very busy, and I can't just let anyone walk into his office. There is an order to things you know. You usually call ahead of time, set up an appointment, and then the boss gets to you in due time. That's how things work around here and that's how it is going to remain.
Nick: Do I have to beg!? Do you think I won't get on my hands and knees and kiss your feet!? All I want is a meeting, a two minute meeting with my employer! I don't care if there are people watching.
I got to my knees and bowed to Jacky, I began to fake cry, and could hear a few chuckles in the background. I looked to see Jacky looking around in a state of embarrassment.
"Jacky": Get off the damn ground! You're embarrassing me!
Nick: Why won't you help me Jacqueline! Do you know what is like to be rejected! Its horrible...and it all I ever get is rejection! Please, just this once, help a brother out, and let me in those doors.
I began to sob uncontrollably, hollywood eat your heart out. I could hear more people laughing and that is when Jacky finally broke. You see, I have this knack for knowing when a person's resistance has been broken, it usually is started by a sigh, and then a rolling of the eyes. Both were put on display on Jacky's pretty face as she reached down and pressed a button. A button that would open the door's to Jeff's office. The door's opened and before Jacky could react, I had wiped the fake tears away, and was already in the room. I straightened my suit jacket and then adjusted my tie before walking into the office of the most powerful man in APW right now. I didn't even introduce myself, I didn't think I needed to, and as I sat down in front of the desk, I noticed the chair was turned away from me.
Nick: Hello, Jeff...I'm Nick Watson, I recently came up from APW-C and I was wondering if I could have a match for this upcoming Overdrive.
No response, I paused for a second, and then continued on.
Nick: You see, I want to have a good first impression, and I think the best way to do that is to have a good match this upcoming Thursday...I don't know who you could possibly book against me, but I will take anything. You see...I want to prove to one of your ex-athletes, Pence Weatherlight, that I am worth his time, and a good match against one of your better wrestlers would do that. So what do you say?
No response again, confused a bit, I loosened my tie. I was beginning to think that Jeff was ignoring me, so instead of giving up I decided to speak louder.
Nick: Alright, you may not know what I'm capable of, and that you have never spoken to me in person, but I'm actually quite good. So why not help me out this time...I'm sure I can put asses in the seats around any arena in the world if you give me a shot.
No response again, I grumbled under my breath, and stood up. I walked over to his chair and began to turn the chair, speaking in a frustrated tone.
Nick: Alright! Why the hell aren't you...
I paused to give myself a mental face-palm. The chair was empty and the room was empty, I had been talking to myself the whole time, and now I felt rather stupid for this whole thing. I let out a sigh and brought my hand to my face, sliding it down slowly as I grunted. I sat down back where I had been sitting.
Nick: Yeah...I just totally had a conversation with a chair. Jesus...oh well, the least I can do is leave Jeff a message explaining what I want.
Reaching down and grabbing a piece of paper, I began to scribble down a message with such atrocious penmanship that my English teacher would have flunked me. The message read simply: "I want a match...sincerely, Nick Watson." I nodded my head, not thinking it was good enough to get a great opponent, but more than likely just enough to get a decent adversary to prove my worth to Mr. Main Event. Once again I straightened my jacket as I left the room. As I left the room and walked out the front door, I would see Jeff walking by me, and would just shake my head before disappearing into my ancient Volkswagen beetle. I would try to start the ignition only to be greeted by the all too familiar sound of an engine unwilling to start. I would slam my head against the steering wheel and then curse to myself before the feed to the video would be cut.
