bleacherreport.com/articles/998988-john-cena-wwes-actions-prove-cenas-heel-turn-is-happening-right-nowSo I just saw this article and wondered what everyone thought about it? Cena's been getting a mixed reaction for years, mainly it's the split between women and children versus adult males. But with the Kane "embrace hate" storyline and his match against The Rock, one of the faces of the attitude era at Wrestlemania it seems the only way for Cena to go is heel. How would everyone feel about it? Would he get a better reaction as a heel? And what's everyone's opinion now, are you For or Against Cena? My position is that I can see why the WWE keep him at the top, because he sells to their PG target audience, but to me his character is stale, his Ultra BabyFace Superhero persona is not believable or interesting, and for someone who has been in the WWE for so long you would have thought his mic skills would be top notch by now and they are still, for me, distinctly average. Do you think people would like him if he showed off a few more moves, went heel and told a different story in his matches rather than gets beat down for 95% of the match only to come back and win it in he end? Just curious as to what you guys think, are APW Megastars Cena Fans or Anti-Cena?

This is giving WWE too much credit, but I don't think the heel turn happens until after a surprise loss at Wrestlemania followed by a vicious post-match attack in which a McMahon and Johnny Ace come out and applaud him. He then feuds with Punk with said corporate faction in his corner. Throw in Kane for good measure and they are sold as an unstoppable force for new top face: CM Punk.

John Cena facing The Rock at Wrestlemania, has a face, Cena is gonna get booed anyways. He doesn't need to turn heel to have a Face Vs Heel match between Rock and Cena. Wrestlemania is in Rocks hometown of Miami, doesn't matter who the rock would face, his opponent would be booed.
I think the ship has sailed for turning Cena heel. Right now, women and children cheer Cena, and men boo him. If Cena turns heel, Women and Children will boo him and Men will probably cheer him. So we're still at square one with the "Lets go Cena, Cena Sucks" chants.
The only way, I think Cena can really be a heel, where everyone would hate him, is if Cena beats up the number 1 over guy in the WWE. Not CM Punk, not Triple H. Cena would need to face The Undertaker at Wrestlemania, and beat him in the most heelish way. Beat him with a chair, hit him with multiple FU's and pin him with a foot on the chest. I don't think that would happen cause it would kill takers legacy, but you get my point

Well that's what I figured in terms of Cena getting booed anyway, they might as well turn him heel, and as much as the adult males booing him goes, I think a lot of them may still boo him because of his limited move-set, but again that could change should he turn heel. I'm just not sure how much more they can do with Cena as a face, especially as Punk is looking to take over (excuse the pun) as the most over guy on the roster. The Undertaker idea would be a genius move by the WWE, it'd be the most daring thing they'd have done in years, even though Taker's streak is most likely going to end at 20-0. Dynamo, I like your idea too about John Cena being corporate, but they've used that so often with people like HHH, Umaga etc, but it'd really make people hate Cena, and at the same time get people believing in WWE's storylines again

To me and I won't go into great follow up detail..I think Cena is this Generations Hulk Hogan. The Attitude Era did away with that Uber Face who hardly ever loses. They had a Goldberg in WCW so WWE did Lesnar as an Uber Heel but John Cena has the closet to being Hogan big with Children. If he made a 3 Ninjas Movie, kids would eat that shit up. The difference being now is that Cena does lose on occasion but always in a controversial way that never gets taken as controversial. What does make Hogan and Cena different is that back in the early 90s, fans just watched the show. They weren't online breaking rumors, news, down into what they really are. You didn't see upcoming shit before it went down so the element of surprise was still there. It to me is what makes eFeds so nice. We get to surprise people, keep them quessing and entertain without the spoil of internet fans.

Yeah. Admittedly, I've had three huge returns now in my on again off again wrestling fandom ruined by dumped bubbling over (Y2J 1, Tazz, and now Y2J3)
I also admit that, until I saw that first Y2J sign, I was still expecting Shane McMahon.

No point turning Cena Heel.
He is the face of the WWE.
He didnt get booked for the last PPV, yet still people bitch and moan that he isnt there.
The guy cant win, love him or hate him, you still have a soft spot for the guy.
Plus the Heel Cena sucked.

I think a short-lived Cena turn would be just as effective as those for Rocky and HBK. Especially since Punk will need a top feud to get him over from Wrestlemania is Jericho to his dumpers move to Smackdown in the next draft.

I'm a big Cena fan. Ok, he's not the best wrestler, but he's a good role model for kids (as good as someone who beats people up for a living can be anyway lol).
We're in recession, and we constantly seem to be at war, so to hear John Cena stand up for what's right in the world, and to pass on good messages like "Rise Above Hate" is a good thing.
I think that he will stay Face, just to prove that in adversity you can still make the right decisions again, an amazing example to pass on to the younger generation. We now have Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, Cody Rhodes and Dolph Ziggler (along with a few others) giving amazing wrestling matches, and we have people like Cena doind what he does.
He has my upmost respect, and I will alway be a fan.

True, but, even in the event of a heel turn, he would eventually come back. Like I was suggesting, he could turn heel after Mania, feud with Punk over the title, then something could turn him face. I agree with you, but there's something to be said for teaching redemption...in that non-Christian way.
