I had no issue with the violence...the comment was more toward the idea that Asylum was the more violent brand. Yes, it probably has some of the more violent wrestlers on it, but when it became APW the idea of it being filled with violence every week was nixed. That was it...

And maybe because I figured the three of you having an actual No DQ match would have served better given the heat between at least 2/3 of you...lol

So Asylum became WWE ECW with no violence...How sad..

Thats the way I always thought of it. Before it could get away with the violence because it was independent but when APW took it on, they had to tone it down.

I could be WAY wrong though. I know that when I wrote stuff for Asylum post last years Rasslemania, I made sure to not have too much violence...could have been for naught lol.

Yeah I didn't think it was Garbage Violence like tacks, blood, gore all day type ECW. I've always seen Asylum like a RoH. The show is more direct to matches, less story/drama, but the wrestling is tough, stiff, and sometimes violent. I've never gone overboard with violence in writing and I don't think I did in the Triple Threat. The ladder got used to hit a Belly to Belly off it but that's it. Only one dude bled. It wasn't that backyard, trash violence like early ECW...Most of Paul Heyman's ECW was. A good slogan for Asylum would be:

"We like it Rough. Wrestling Violence."

Mayhem Feedback

I personally am a fan of a PPV with a story, which is about what 50% of the segments told for Mayhem. The other half seemed a bit irrelevant in terms of actually progressing a story for the night. Hopefully some of the ones that seemed more like Overdrive/Asylum/Meltdown moments get a sense of purpose in the coming weeks. I did feel like Watson getting suspended and then wrestling was a bit odd, but at least that wasn't the end of it.

There was definitely a violent feeling throughout the entirety of the night, which did help many of the feuds blow-offs feel more intense than their Rasslemania counter-parts, a more wrestling-oriented event.

I actually kinda like the Callahan/Sally "segment" in the middle of their match. Definitely served as a tone-changing moment for the match, which I enjoyed. I don't think the finish makes Sally weak, although I can see how Jules would think so.

As usual, I suck at critiquing matches, so I'm going to list moments from matches that I enjoyed more than usual:
- Double Split Leg Drop (WH Title match)
- Belly to belly off the ladder (WH Title match)
- Carmen's interference (LMS match)
- Event Horizon onto the steel steps (LMS match)
- AC Smith's gentlemen attitude/betrayal (Bar Room Brawl)
- Last Ride into the Pepsi Machine (Bar Room Brawl)
- Chandelier Spot (Bar Room Brawl)
- General T-marv awesomeness (Cage match)
- Delikado time-out (Delikado vs. Hart)
- Callahan/Sally segment (Callahan vs. Sally)
- Biggs's betrayal (Tag Team Title match)!
- Yarmouth getting a spot in the NA Title match.
- The whole ME.

I'd give MOTN to the Bar Room Brawl, as I was definitely the most entertained reading it!

Overall, a really great event that I felt ended some great feuds and was filled with character moments. It's been great working with you CJ...but I doubt it's the last time!

No energy to find a picture for it, but my award for this show would be the "Holy crap, is it really called Mayhem because it's in May?" award!
