Maybe I'm the only one who cares about the NBA in APW (which would make sense, it's a terrible league).
But wow do they want the Heat to win. There is no other major sports league in the US that the referees influence the end result as much (save for the WWE).
Rajon Rondo gets a forearm to the face and because it's the Prince D-Wade the referees ignore it.
We get it David Stern, you think LeBron James is good for the NBA, what you're failing to realize is that he's hated every where in the United States outside of Miami. I travel for work often, and during these past few weeks of the NBA playoffs, no matter where I am in the continental United States the reaction is the same, "I don't care who wins, as long as the Heat lose."
The NBA sucks.

I'm not a NBA fan, I've watched all of 3 quarters this Playoffs but I will say that people dislike LeBron sure but they dislike him like people disliked The Dallas Cowboys or San Fran in their hayday in the NFL. You dislike what isn't winning for your team. If he was traded, ANY team in the League would welcome him with open arms. You think otherwise and you have issues..

Psh, if Philly had lebron, we'd welcome him until he choked and we'd trash him so hard that he would probably cut his own achilles tendon. We hate him because he took the easy way out, but not just taking the easy way out, but HOW he took the easy way out. He set up an hour long program called The Decision, "I'm taking my talents to South Beach", That party they threw a week after him and Bosh came to the Heat, "Not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, not six, not seven..."

Yeah ego is there, I hope they do lose this year. I hope the Celtics come back and stomp but it'd probably be whoever wins Spurs/Thunder (I hope Thunder comes back)
I get into Basketball a bit during the Season but mainly it's ESPN highlights in the morning ya know? LeBron needs to be on his own team, maybe have a big dude with him but he should be the one carrying a team. He's that kind of player, it will begin to crumble if they lose this year. They will begin to doubt themselves and shit will change in South Beach. Send him to Houston, I've always wanted a reason to like my town's Basketball team. Good, young team right now, throw on LeBron and BOOM. Hell, gimmie Blake Griffin when he decides to leave LA Jr.

I'm a big Magic fan and all around hater of the Heat so I will say this right now:
No matter who makes the Finals, the Spurs or Thunder are winning this years NBA championship. Karma is going to keep Lebron away from a ring and no matter how many bad calls are given the Spurs, a true nba dynasty, will not be losing to a crap team like the Heat. The spurs are by far the deepest team in the NBA and are competing against another deep team in the Thunder. The depth of both of these teams makes Miami's bench look like scrubs. Plus, I want KG in an Orlando jersey this off season and am expecting him to come here for a vet minimum....so, yeah, prediction away!

Yeah, because the NBA doesn't want the Celtics in the finals. If there is a team from the Eastern Conference that could rival the Heat's popularity, it's the 16-time NBA champion Boston Celtics.
You guys and your conspiracy theories!

Yeah, because the NBA doesn't want the Celtics in the finals. If there is a team from the Eastern Conference that could rival the Heat's popularity, it's the 16-time NBA champion Boston Celtics. You guys and your conspiracy theories! The problem with this is the NBA is a superstar driven league. A ton of their marketing revolves around the upper echelon players like Lebron, Kobe, Dwight etc. These guys drive the box office and the television ratings so having one of their top teams in the finals will help drive ratings. I know there's a ton of people that wouldn't tune in to see a Boston/San Antonio final (which incidentally is the match up I would actually watch with considerable interest) so seeing the Heat slide in doesn't surprise me at all. You won't see a 'fix' in the finals because who ever the champion is doesn't matter ... so long as they make the finals. Up here in Canada they have a broadcaster named Cam Stewart who I've always found interesting as he's pretty abrasive and says what's on his mind in a sense. He made a pretty heavy mention about how things seem to work out 'well' for the NBA. Going back to the Lakers/Sacramento series that Tim Donaghy brought up, but also mentioning the Bulls/Sonics series in MJ's first year back (which had some shoddy officiating) and the strike shortened season featured the Knicks who barely had a reason to make the playoffs. He also mentioned the NBA Draft lottery which I'd be more easily to accept as being fixed and how it has seemingly rewarded teams despite the odds (Only 3 times since '94 has the best odds won). He mentioned the Patrick Ewing fiasco with the first one - but talked about how the NBA owned Hornets get the first pick this year giving them a franchise player to build the team around when Benson takes over. Lebron James going to Cleveland in 03' staying close to home (incidentally when the worst team won it), same deal with D-Rose in '08 (with the Bulls moving up from 9th), Lebron leaves Cleveland and they get Kyrie (moving up from 8th) and then John Wall going to Washington after the Gilbert Arena's fiasco. The NBA will deny it but the problem is they've already got an image problem. Over 55% of repsondants in a USA today poll suggested that the NBA lottery is fixed and that's something that can't be good for the NBA. There's a reason leagues are so heavily against gambling and it's because they're worried about a fix. They don't care about the money involved - but simply the fact that once people think a result is fixed they're going to ignore it which is going to kill the business. I think whoever takes over for Stern is going to have to really make a concerted effort to clean up the NBA's image issue. The game is only getting more popular and if the concussion issue in the NFL continues I think it'll sky-rocket as a 'safe alternative'. It's an absolute bull market at the moment but that collapses the first time something is revealed as having been rigged to the NBA's benefit.

The Celtics won 15 of those championships before the fix was in. The 16th was just for show after the whole big 3 thing. They were the most talked about team, suddenly they won.
Players and coaches alike have said the league is rigged these days. Viva la NHL! Go Kings! (well Bruins first, but they won last year and their goalie clearly has some issues)
