Oh my Gosh, I found my new Lost! Although, I can't really use any of these characters as my pic base, because none of them are Sawyer... lol I started reading Game of Thrones a few days ago, still falling inlove with it. Then I saw on Amazon that it's also a TV show on HBO. Watched the first episode, and just couldn't get over how amazing it is! After you see the first episode, you know what kind of show it is. Pretty much anything goes, if you saw the pilot, you know what I mean. I was up until 9 am watching some episodes, I'm up 5 hours later for work, haha. I am just addicted to it. This show is my Sun and Stars

The rules for the "A Song of Ice and Fire" book series: 1) If you think someone's a bit of a dick, they will survive. 2) If you think someone's cool/nice, within ten pages they will be killed.

I've been watching this since the Series first came on Television. I've always been a sucker for Medieval Times stuff with some Fantasy touch to it. I thought about getting into the books but it might pre spoil some of the show stuff so I haven't just yet. The latest season just got over, they just went on break again and each Season Finale has been WELL Worth the show. I love this shit, the nudity and dirty whores almost make me wonder how funky was their chicken in days without soap or toilet paper?
I was PISSED when they did what they did to Eddard Stark in Season 1. I love his youngest Daughter too, she is spunky and has some fight in her that will only add to the show. All the characters have very interesting writing done to create them and the actors nail it. I'm hooked like a fish on pole and other than The Walking Dead I cannot find a show to match this one.
There also just came a Video Game for the Major Systems for Game Of Thrones. Original Storyline, nothing to do with the books or show so nothing gets spoiled. RPG Action game. I will be getting it after I complete the Dragon Age Series again. (Trophies)

This contains spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen the first two seasons... I talk about the books, but nothing that is spoilery:
If you really love the show, I'd suggest not reading the books, at least not until that part of the books is over. I watched the first season, the started reading the books, and got through the third book before season two started. Season two covered the second book and the start of some characters' stories from book three (King Robb and his new wife, Brienne and Jaime, off the top of my head).
Anyways, I really did not enjoy season two of the show, having had most of it spoiled for me. I didn't get any shock factor at all, and I'm actually frustrated that I have to wait so much longer to see shit from book three.
There was a lot that disappointed me, but I understand most of it from a logical standpoint. They couldn't constantly have Danaerys' dragons on screen because of the CGI, which irked me because season one ended with the dragon reveal in what was not really a cliffhanger, more of a "shit just got crazy" moment. We spent nine months wanting to see her dragons do shit (which, I guess the book explains in great detail they are young and still quite useless), but I just wanted to see them, not have them be in baskets.
Season one followed the book super closely, really only condensing rather than outright changing storylines. Season two weirdly changed stuff, which I guess was to cut out too many characters, but one that kinda irked me was the fact they introduced Ser Dontos in the very first episode (he's the guy that showed up drunk to Joffrey's fights, then Joffrey had a whole barrel of wine poured down his throat), then completely drop the character. In the book, he meets with Sansa to tell her that he'll rescue her and free her from Joffrey, although it's revealed in the end that it's Littlefinger that's making him do it. The showed just cut him out and had Littlefinger say he's going to free her, but why include him at all in the first place.
Anyways, this is just nerdy rambling, but once I've read the books (which, even if you hate fantasy, are AWESOME. It took me about three months to slog through Lord of the Rings, and I started reading the Chronicles of Narnia two years ago and still haven't been able to finish it; but I've read each of the first three books of this series - all of which are over a thousand pages of tiny print long - in less then two weeks each. They are fast reading page turners! Anyways, back to my original thought and off this huge parenthetical), I find the show muddled. The show never really explained who Davos was and the thing about Stannis cutting off his fingers. They focused on Stannis and Mellisandre, and really, she was better left as super mysterious. She'd just show up and do insane shit with no explanation (the smoke baby monster was definitely one of the best parts of A Clash of Kings) which was a lot fucking more awesome.
Season two did have it's highlights. Everything with Arya and Tywin Lannister was fucking amazing, and I don't think that happened in the book at all. But, for the most part, I think it focused on some of the shittier parts of the book instead of the more badass ones.
Also, and now I'm just rambling, I don't remember if Drogo appeared to Dany in the House of the Undying in Clash of Kings, but I fucking hated it on the show. Not because I hate Drogo, because I was more pissed when Drogo died than when Ned Stark did - Ned was an old, out-of-shape badass who kinda was an idiot, showing what happens to people not willing to "play the Game"; Drogo was only starting to become a more full-fledged character when he died. But, I was pissed that he came back to give advice. I fucking hate when that shit happens.
In Harry Potter, Dumbledore died, yet he was still able to come back to help tell Harry shit that I don't remember, but was important to him. Same thing with Uncle Ben in Spiderman. In Game of Thrones, if you die, that's it. Ned Stark doesn't appear in his children's dreams to tell them what they need to here. It's like real life: fucker's dead and he can't help you now. I always find the advice beyond the grave thing is annoying: if you kill the character to advance the plot, you shouldn't get to use him anymore.
Anyways, that's my piece about Game of Thrones. I could go on about this shit for days.

I'm loving this series, both the shows and the books (and I NEVER read fantasy novels). Anyone who was around APW last year for Shockwave can see that just from one of my RP's that I wrote for that PPV. It's one of those shows that keeps you gripped, has you invest in characters and then fucks those characters over hardcore.
Now onto stuff that might be spoilers, so if you don't want potential spoilers, don't read on any farther...
I see what you're saying Matt.
I watched season one before reading the books. The only downside, is while reading the books, I can now only picture the actors (in some cases) when the person is speaking. During book one, I pictured Sean Bean when Ned was talking. However, I wouldn't say that things are spoiled for you if you read the book first. They change a few things here and there to still give you a sense of surprise, plus the anticipation of certain scenes.
As to why they showed Dontos early on and never brought him back, I can only assume they did it more to play up Joffrey's asshole attitude and the relationship between he and Sansa more then to set Dontos up for what he does.
The first book covered it completely, but I think there was just too much in the second to cover it as closely. And consider what's supposed to happen in the third, they probably wanted to make THAT the focus, so they started stories earlier?
In any case, it's an awesome TV show and book series.

I hated when that dude who also played the new Conan died. Didn't even get to see him fuck folks up really. Such a shame. Him and Ned Stark dying really got me. I'm a sucker for this series and plan on reading the books soon. How many books are there? Theres been what 3 seasons of TV now? Positive I've watched them, DLing shit is awesome!

There's only been 2 seasons so far.
Book wise there's 5 so far, but I think there's plans for like...2-3 more or something? I forget the exact number.

Damn, the weed does strange things sometimes.. Spoilers about the dragons and Ned StarkThe dragons being born was the last scene of Season 1. The lady responsible for "The Badass's" death gets what she deserves, and after that, the dragons come back. Ned Stark dies one episode before the last episode of season 1. I haven't been able to watch season 2 yet since I'm watching episodes on my Kindle Fire, and season 2 isn't out on Amazon yet. I'm reading the books right now. I'm only 10% done with Games of Thrones. A certain somebody just caught two important people getting down and dirty, thus was pushed off a tower B-) Is it totally wrong of me that I want Joffrey to have the most terrible death ever written in a book? I want his death to be a million times worse than having melted gold poured on his face. That kid is just a douche!!

I fully agree about that punk False King. I had hopes of his Mother being raped by the commoners as well, she seems to snobby and uptight..I just hate those kind of females.

I would feel uncomfortable if it was a fictional cartoon character, like the woman bunny from Space Jam, but I dislike the queen from Game of Thrones so much, that I too, hope she gets raped...
