Oh, and I am also suspecting a possible Jester (Krusty the Clown) possibly, but that could be way our there

I could see that, Blade, although I don't see it as being horribly likely. Then again, Moe as a mafia member strikes me as odd... so I have no idea who is going to be aligned which way that hasn't already been designated. Well, that or the Simpons family itself, since they're all likely town.
I also wouldn't be surprised if Skinner ended up mafia.

MOD NOTE
The great thing about the simpsons, with so many characters in the show, almost every character can be tagged with a role in this game

terry and blade said it best, there r so many possibilities that it would be difficult to just assume.
could it be possible that there r 2 mafias? i mean with fat tony as head of the REAL simpsons mafia, then u throw in burns, smithers, moe (god knows y), then bob as potential 3rd party then krusty as potential jester....
we have ourselves a very VERY interesting situation. this is just on top of the players already mentioned. the actual simpsons r safe to assume, then we have quimby, lenny, carl, wiggum and flanders. my guess is that maggie isnt used although she was crucial in certain aspects. (potential 1 shot kill ability for those who r familiar?)

Unless you're a cultural dunce, everyone is or should be familiar with the flavour of this game.

It hadn't really occurred to me until Blade brought it up (not that Moe was in red, but that this would be a significant thing). But then I didn't really have any expectations of which characters would be town and which anti-town. I haven't watch the show in years but I seem to remember the Simpsons having plenty of characters that could go each way, and there was always something malevolent about Moe The Bartender. The simpsons actually have their own mafia, so that is why i am confused about Moe. Also, ahead of him i would have thrown Nelson, Mr Burns, Jimbo and Slema/Thelma. I'm thinking all five possibly are mafia with Krusty being a Jester in the game. If there are two Mafias then there's the Simpsons Mafia filled with the mafia guys and then the Moe Mafia.

18 players i'm thinking 5 or 6 mafia. thats about 2/3 of the players being town, not including possible third party characters.

I can see how Moe would be a mafia, his preoccupation with Marge, the events of Flaming Moe's and the semi-regular nods to him being less than kosher would make it so.
I'd hazard a guess at 4-5 mafia, 1-2 third parties and the rest being town. I would assume that the potential for a Jester is very high given that we have a solid call for that role in Krusty.
Basically I agree with what's been said and I think if we work from that base, we can start to ascertain who's working against the majority. Right now, I think we just need to have everyone offer their thoughts and see what else we can take from it.

I've never been one good at guessing in these games, and opening my mouth (no homo) always seems to get me into trouble. Just throwing it out there that I'm not trying to lay low.
Day 1 always blows...

^^ this to me sounds like "MOE" trying to justify himself.....
3rd party is in purple i believe and since MOE is in red, it can only mean he is scum.

Well, going back to my topic. I'm not confused anymore, I just wasn't under the impression that red means Mafia. I guess it helps out knowing which characters in the game are part of the mafia, makes it easier to know how many mafia members there are. But I agree with everyone's assumption that there is 5 or 6. Seems about right.

I can see Moe being fed up at all of Bart & Friends' prank calls. However, I'm not sure how the Apu storyline ties in.
I agree with the Krusty statements that there is probably a jester involved and probably lend towards Sideshow Bob being third party/serial killer.
I think there is potential to see the following characters and roles. Feel free to chime in with your thoughts:
Homer Marge Bart Lisa Maggie Ned Flanders Fat Tony (potential Godfather) Itchy & Scratchy (probably tied together somehow) Krusty the Clown (potential jester) Nelson (another possible Mafia role; biggest bully at Springfield Elementary and nemesis of Bart) Mayor Quimby Sideshow Bob (potential third party/serial killer) Smithers Mr. Burns Chief Clancy Wiggum (most likely town cop) Milhouse Moe (confirmed Mafia member)

Obviously Chief Wiggum (confirmed town) is going to be the town cop. Lisa will probably be something like an inventor or a roleblocker, maybe even Night Kill immune. Who knows? Moe I imagine will probably have some sort of silencing drug-dealer role (he's a bartender). The only thing I will agree with is that Sideshow Bob is a fairly obvious choice for a Third Party/SK but then Moe wasn't exactly the obvious choice for a scum target and so I'm pretty sure Jeff is gonna' set out of his way to throw us curveballs. I'll have a look at the rest of the confirmed characters tomorrow when I'm not ramped up to the eyeballs on adrenaline and exhaustion.

EBWOP: Actually I've just had a thought. Moe is universally disliked around town for his lame pick-up attempts on Marge and his reputation as a tight-wad, bitter, overcharging cynic. Possible miller rather than a scum target?

Sideshow bob would be head mafia not a serial killer he really didnt kill anyone the only person he ever wanted to kill was bart i am also thinking that snake could be a possible mafia and sideshow mel

Thats not a bad thought, but I'm having a hard time believing that jeff would have him show up as red if he was town aligned (as a miller in your scenario would be). But then again, I guess we can't assume a damn thing right?

I get this feeling that if there is a Sideshow Bob role, he might be more of a lyncher who's aim is to make sure Bart gets lynched. He could be a serial killer, sure, though there could always be something tied in to Bart as well.

I can't seem to get an episode of The Simpson's out of my head. There is an episode where it is revealed that Homer is so stupid because he has a crayon lodged in his brain. Later on Moe takes puts it back in, and he actually has a business card that says, "That's right, I'm a doctor!"
I'm wondering if Jeff has included this as a role for Moe, as a type of easter egg. Perhaps some sort of doctor for the Mafia side. But Moe has had quite a lot of odd professions throughout the lifespan of The Simpson's. It's really hard to tell what Moe is going to do.
