• TIME TO GET PWN3D •
Chicago, IL was the city that would be hosting APW’s Test for the Best event. We were several hours from the actual show taking place but that wasn’t going to stop the one and the only Johnny Sykes from forcing an APW Camera Crew to follow him around. As the cameras opened up Sykes was shown hanging out in the backstage area playing his Nintendo DS. It wasn’t until someone cleared their thought before Sykes realized the cameras were on and that it was go time.
Johnny Sykes: A few weeks ago I came up short against Sally and that meant I was out of the Test for the Best. It meant that I had start back at square one. It meant that I was going to have to try just a little bit harder to get to the level I wanted to be on. But you know what? I’m fine with that. I didn’t go whine and cry like some people. I didn’t call biased or screw job. I loss and now I have to make up for it.
Sykes paused for the moment nodding his head just a slight bit. That was a statement that pretty much anyone and everyone would be able to agree with. It was a damn good match between he and Sally, but he came up short. That’s just how it was.
Johnny Sykes: Thankfully despite losing and being out of the tournament. I wasn’t left without a match for the event. I find myself in the pre-show tag match. I’ll be teaming up with a goofy looking dude, a zombie, and some Asian to be taking on the four Overdrive Megastars. It’ll be Michael Harris, Nick Watson, Mark Mania, and Slade Craven. It looks like we’ve got ourselves a bit of a freak show tag match but I diggit!
Not really sure if freak show tag match would be the way to describe it. However it was a tag match with a lot of different characters and styles being forced against each other but being forced to work with each other as well. It would be an interesting outcome that was for sure.
Johnny Sykes: I aint one of those guys that is going to stand here before you all and trash my tag partners. They might not be David Xavier Christensen and they might not be Eryk Ince. Best two tag partners I have ever had in my life but they are my partners none the less and I am going to treat them with respect even if they might not respect me. After all there’s no I in team and it’ll be up to every single one of us to leave with a victory.
It was good to see that Sykes had an outlook he needed to have when it came to team work. Granted it wasn’t a guarantee that everyone was going to see it that way. Least he was going to enter it with the team mind frame and that’s all one could really do, as well as hope the others viewed things the same way.
Johnny Sykes: Now when it comes to the opposing team… Let’s just say I haven’t seen a more dysfunctional bunch since the Jackson Five. I hate to say it but I don’t see those four getting along in the least bit. Sure I understand that we have a zombie on our team and I understand we have an Asian, but I know that we’ll be able to get along before those four get along. There’s just entirely too much wrong on that team to see them as a legit threat.
Now this was going to get interesting. Sykes’s logic on this tag match and the other people were going to make people intrigued. They were going to wonder just exactly what he was talking about and where he was going with things. Luckily for them he wouldn’t have a problem with giving people the down low.
Johnny Sykes: For example let’s start with Nicky Watson shall we? I’ll be honest with you peepz. The kid is the weak link to the team. Sure he just recently beat Michael Harris but my two year old could beat Michael Harris. It aint really anything to brag about as far as I am concerned anyway but the thing is, Watson doesn’t seem to realize that he is the weak link. He doesn’t seem to realize he’s going to be a huge factor in that team being held down. For whatever reason he seems to think he has the tools to go somewhere in this business, but truth be told he doesn’t and soon enough he’s going to be hit hard with reality.
It would be hard for anyone to deny that Watson has had a rough start since coming to APW. Maybe he wasn’t really the weakest link and maybe Sykes was wrong about him not being able to put up a real fight, but going off the facts. Sykes had an arguementive case against Watson one that couldn’t be denied.
Johnny Sykes: Then we have Slade Craven. I can see this dude and I going to toe to toe along in this match. It seems we both have similar styles as far as doing all the cool highflying stuff. But as cool as that might be Craven is the second biggest weak link on this team. He might be able to do this cool or that cool flip but the thing with Craven is he doesn’t know how to execute. He doesn’t know how to finish the job. He doesn’t know when it’s time to be smart and just put things away while he has in it his favor. I love my fans just as much as the next guy but I don’t show boat forever. I know when enough is enough and due to Craven not knowing how to do that himself. It’ll create problems for his team.
There was a chance that Sykes hit the nail on the head right then and there. Those who don’t know when to put a match and those who took too many risk could cause problems especially in a tag team environment. However that wasn’t to say Craven was even going to go that route but there was always a chance in this business.
Johnny Sykes: That will bring us to Mark Mania… You know dudes and dudettes. I am always one of those guys that respect my elders. I am one of those guys that respect the people that paved the road for me. I am one of those guys that respect veterans and according to the history of APW. Mark Mania is a bit of veteran, a bit of a big deal if you will, and because of knowing that history. I was expected to be blown away by this guy. Sadly enough that didn’t happen and after seeing his performances as of late. I can’t even begin to wonder just exactly how on earth he got that veteran status. Dude is just an egotist that tends to come up short time and time again. There isn’t anything special about him in my opinion. Nothing that sets him apart from everyone else and I have no other choice but to say he isn’t going to be much of threat to us or much of help to his team.
Once again there was a chance he was right and there was a chance that he was wrong. It didn’t mean that he didn’t have an argument though because he did. Mania hadn’t been as great as he was played off to be. In fact he had been on the bottom of the totem pole as of late and if that continued then there wasn’t going to be a chance in hell he’d be able to help his teammates.
Johnny Sykes: And that would of course bring me to Michael Harris. I don’t think it’s much of a secret to anyone that the two of us have a history together. It isn’t a very good history either. For as long as I could remember Harris has hated me. Thing was I nor anyone else could ever figure out why. There’s always been this reason or that reason but nothing that was ever concrete. I personally believe Harris just enjoys being a bitter person and has to do anything as well as everything he can to remain bitter. Even if that means he has to pick on people and start a fight with people for no real reason at all.
Sykes kind of just shrugged his shoulders a little bit. It didn’t seem like he really understood what Harris’s reasoning for not liking him was, but on the flip side to it. It didn’t seem like Sykes really cared either. He wasn’t one of those people bothered by stupid stuff or one of those people that was bothered when someone didn’t like him.
Johnny Sykes: As much as I dislike the guy and as much as I dislike his attitude toward me. I know Harris better than anyone in this company and I know what he is capable of doing inside that ring. If you think the stuff he put John Dionysus through was bad then you haven’t seen anything yet. I know that Harris is going to be a threat and I know that is going to show up to this match with the intentions of tearing everything in sight down. I know for a fact that he’d love to put an end to me. But here’s the thing to all of that, it just isn’t going to happen. Sadly enough though it has nothing to do with his teammates or the fact the he isn’t talented. It has everything to do with his ego. His ego has been and always will be the thing that cripples him the most. No doubt about it Harris’s ego is going to be the thing that cost this team the win the most and he’ll have no one to blame but himself.
Most people would agree with that statement. Harris was without a doubt an egotist and he had proven that since he walked into the doors of APW. He’d been proving it for the last twelve years that he had been in this business and it’d likely continue even if it was proven to be the thing that held him down the most when it came to achieving success around APW. On that note, Sykes looked back at the cameras to deliver his final message.
Johnny Sykes: Despite this match seemingly not being competitive and despite this match seemingly like every single superstar on the opposite team is going to get pwned. I promise as one of the most entertaining superstars of this generation, I promise as your beloved hero, and I promise as an APW Megastar. I’m going to do anything and everything I possibly can to make sure you people get one hell of a pre-show and that you get your money’s worth when it comes to seeing me compete. Believe that fools!
Sykes just looked right at the cameras still grinning from ear to ear. He had managed to get what he wanted to say off his chest and he had managed to make people pay attention to this match, even if it was just the pre-show match. It’d be an interesting match that very well could go either way. only time would tell though, with that being said. Sykes walked out of the cameras view which lead to everything fading to static.

• IT’S A MAN… MAN! •
In the back the cameras happened to catch up with Sykes once again. This time he just happened to be standing in front of Sally Talfourd and the two seemed to be engaging in friendly conversation despite their match from a few weeks ago.
Johnny Sykes: Sally, I just wanted to wish you the best of luck out there tonight. I know on Asylum a few weeks ago I seemed just a little bitter. Eh it happens when you want to win as badly as I do but you beat me fair and square. Best of luck out there and may you win the whole thing.
Sally Talfourd: I can understand that Johnny. No real harm done and thanks for the good luck. I’m not one for luck but I’ll damn sure do my best to make sure that I leave as the winner of Test for the Best!
Carmen Rivera: You two make me sick!
Both Sally and Sykes both looked in the direction in which the voice was coming from. Sure enough despite neither one of them wanting to deal with Carmen. She was standing there before them and she didn’t look happy in the least bit.
Carmen Rivera: Just who the hell do you think you are trashing Michael Harris the way you did earlier?! Don’t you realize how great he is? You should be honored to even be in the same ring as someone like him. I can’t wait to see him tear you apart now after running your mouth.
Johnny Sykes: Uh who in the blue balls are you, and why are you handing Harris’s dirty work?
Carmen Rivera: I am Carmen Rivera! Future North American Champion and the manager of Michael Harris.
Johnny Sykes: Oooooh! You’re the transsexual Harris is having sexual relationships with and bragging about it on twitter.
Carmen Rivera: Excuse you?! Transsexual?! I am all woman thank you very much…
Johnny Sykes: Could have fooled me with that adam’s apple and the way you carry yourself like a butch lesbian. Are you sure you’re not a transsexual? I mean it is 2012 and no one is judging you.
Carmen Rivera: Yes! I am sure!
Johnny Sykes: Yeah, well I’m not and there’s only one real way to check. Serious question Carmen, what’s the capital of Thailand?!
Carmen Rivera: What the fu---
Before Rivera could finish her statement. Sykes reached out and kicked Rivera right between her legs. It stunned her for the moment and made her drop to floor. At that point Sally quickly whispered something in Syke’s ear.
Johnny Sykes: Well… uh… shit! The answer is Bangkok and it would seem you actually are a chick. On that note just tell Harris, it’ll be fun kicking his ass later but I got to get running before you can actually recover from this.
Rivera laid on the ground in pain as Sykes darted off down the hall way. In a few moments his match was going to be coming up. Sally just looked down at Carmen and then looked at the direction Sykes had run off in. With a small little shrug of her shoulders, she proceeded to walk off leaving Rivera laying there. Tonight was heating up and getting interesting real quick, on that not ethe cameras faded out to static once again.
