Moments after Sykes had come up on the losing end of the stick in his match for Test for the Best’s pre-show. He was standing in his personalized locker room pacing back and forth. All of the sudden with a great deal of force he kicked an empty mountain dew bottle causing it to fly across the room. About that time a familiar voice to Sykes was heard from behind him.
David Xavier Christensen: You feel better now tough guy?
Johnny Sykes: What are you even doing here?
David Xavier Christensen: Do you really think that I am going to miss watching two of my best friends kick each other’s asses in the middle of the ring in a city like Chicago? If you do you’ve done lost your mind bro.
Johnny Sykes: Well you saw me lose, happy with that?
David Xavier Christensen: I’m not happy with ever seeing a friend lose. Hell, I’m never happy when I lose myself but shit happens. This is the wrestling business. It’s how you come back from these kinds of things that actually matter and not the win loss record.
Sykes kind of rolled his eyes while letting out a sigh of frustration. It was very rare that he showed this side of him but being as frustrated as he is after falling so far from grace so to speak. That’s when he looked right back up at David
Johnny Sykes: I don’t think you quite get it bro. I came into APW red hot. I was looking at possibly getting a shot at facing Callahan or even Kash when he was champion. Then all the sudden I end up losing to Sally and it just goes downhill. Tonight really proved that I lost my edge, no offense to Nick Watson but since when did he matter around here?
David Xavier Christensen: You know as well as I know it takes just three seconds to lose a match much like it takes three seconds to win a match. tonight, Watson caught you off guard and you lost. It isn’t the end of the world. You just have to come back from this and from what I’m hearing. You’ve got the chance to do so when Asylum rolls around.
Johnny Sykes: Gotta love when you hear things before I do and you aren’t even on the roster, but none the less dude. What have you heard now? Who am I up against?
David Xavier Christensen: Let’s just say that I know how to get information and the inside scoop from people when I want it. Anyways I’ve been informed that you’ll actually be taking on Phil Atkens, one of the men that you teamed up with here tonight Seems like the perfect person to make an example out of and get people to start taking you seriously again.
For a moment or two Sykes looked at David with a bit of a blank stare on his face. It was almost as if he was trying to mow the idea over a little bit. One could assume that it wasn’t much of an opportunity to do what David was saying, but if you were good you could turn anything into an opportunity.
Johnny Sykes: Meh not really what I was thinking or expecting, but we all have to start somewhere and after tonight where he really didn’t bother to have my back or put in any real effort into the match. I owe him a couple kicks to the face just based on that alone, but somehow I have to get my name back out there before I am just forgotten about.
David Xavier Christesen: Well there was a time in our lives as a tag team where we known as ‘The Forgotten’ and you remember how that all came about. No one knew us. No one cared to remember us. No one bothered to pay attention to us and then that’s when we stepped up to make them pay attention to us. That’s all you need to do here kid, so don’t drop the ball and get your shit together man.
Johnny Sykes: Real funny David, don’t worry though. I don’t have intentions on dropping the ball or giving people more of a reason to doubt me. One way or another I’ll defeat Phil Atkens, just like one way or the other I’ll become one of the biggest names in APW history. It might take some time but it’ll happen.
Both men stood there looking at each other for a moment or two. Sykes seemed determined after taking such a fall when it seemed that he was headed in the right direction. It was never easy to come so far and them seemingly drop right off the mat, but like David said. It wasn’t about wins and losses, it was about how you bounced back. Somehow someway, Sykes would do just that.

As our cameras opened up the first thing that was shown was Johnny Sykes looking right at the cameras. That’s when it became clear that Sykes was behind all of this. There was something that he needed to say and he wasn’t going to waste any time at all in doing so. After all it was important to him.
Johnny Sykes: What does it mean to be forgotten? According to this here dictionary, it means to cease or fail to remember something such as a date, time, place or even a person. I can truly tell you over the last two or three weeks here in APW. I have truly felt as if I have become a forgotten person around here. Why that is? I’m not exactly sure and I’m not sure if I’ll ever really know if I am being honest.
He looked at the cameras and kind of shrugged his shoulders a little bit. It wasn’t like it was a true unsolved mystery or something, but the thing was Sykes was so absent minded that he likely never would be able to figure this out.
Johnny Sykes: I go from defeating everyone I am up against left and right. Then I find myself in a match with Sally whom I respect the hell out of. I lose that match and from that point on it’s all downhill. Then at the Test for the Best, I end up losing and even be the one pinned in the pre-show tag match. I was pinned by a dude that essentially hasn’t done shit around here but have his ass handed to him and might have beat Michael Harris, but like I said who hasn’t done that? That loss right there proved to me how much I had fallen and made me wake up.
Waking up is really what the young man needed. He wanted to be this huge star and he wanted to get people to remember him again then this was the right step in that direction. But even if this was a step in the right direction it was going to take more than waking up to turn things around.
Johnny Sykes: Now that brings me to this match I have coming up on Asylum. I am being put up against Phil Atkens the very man that I teamed up with at Test for the Best and from what I hear Atkens has been flapping those oversized gums quite a bit about me since the match has been made between the two of us. I have heard him say things like I am just a joke and that I one of the bottom feeders here in APW. I heard him mention how he is so above me and that it is just a direct slap in the face to him and all his talents that he has to waste his time facing me. You know the same old crap every dumbass with an ego gives when it comes to facing someone. Cause you know most people lack creativity and originality.
Sykes was shown shaking his head just a little bit more. It was almost as if he was expecting just a little bit more from Atkens but at the same time it’s like he expected that to come from him. It was never a good thing when someone didn’t meet someone’s expectations or when someone saw you as so predictable they knew what you were going to do.
Johnny Sykes: I tell you what though guys I am actually quite glad that Atkens went shooting off at the mouth like that. You see little does he know I am using this very match to become unforgotten. I am using this match to get right back on people’s radars and I am using this match to once again become a hot topic here on the Asylum brand. might not be something people expect and might not be what Atkens wants but I am using him to get where I need to be. I am going to make an example out of him.
This was going to be enough to catch people’s attention and make them really take the match into consideration. They’d want to see just how serious he was and see exactly what he was able to get done in that ring when the time came for it.
Johnny Sykes: Atkens, I think you are going to come to learn that sticks and stones may hurt my bones but words will never hurt me. I have been dogged for years. I have been told I was a joke for years. I have been told I would never amount to anything for years and I have even been told that I don’t belong in this business. I’ll never be this. I’ll never be that and I’ll never come anywhere close to a household names. Again as you could assume that’s something I have heard for years but yet here I stand. I am ready to fight and I am ready to make you eat every single last ill word you said about me. you might not like it but the fact that I am showing balls and willing to stand up to you should really make you open your eyes on the matter at hand.
Indeed that should be enough to tell someone something, but there was a good feeling that Atkens would just ignore it. Not to mention not take Sykes seriously and that was going to be the thing that bit him in the rear end. On that note he began speaking his final words of the evening.
Johnny Sykes: I tell you what though Atkens, you make all the jokes you want about me. You continue to write me off and continue to make fun of me. You do whatever it is you feel you need to do in order to feel better about yourself. But you remember this much, I am the one that is in a position where if I don’t do something and I don’t do something quick I could become the most forgotten person to ever step foot in APW. I cannot and I will not allow that to happen. With me possibly losing everything I ever wanted. You can be your goofy looking ass that I am showing up with my best. Somehow someway, I will beat you and I will be headed right back to the top of APW.
Sykes took one final moment and looked at the cameras before walking away. At this point there was nothing else left for him to say but one thing was for sure. People hadn’t seen the last of Johnny Sykes just yet. In fact APW wasn’t going to have any idea what hit it when Sykes got things back on track and started to get on the ball.
