Last week on Asylum, Johnny Sykes found himself in the ring once again. It had been a rough couple weeks for the 25 year old when it came to his ability to win. He was having a little trouble believing in himself and he was starting to wonder what it was going to take to get back on top after having so much steam when he first walked into the place.
None the less though, he returned to the ring attempting to hold his head up high and having the mind set of getting things back on track. Sure enough when the dust settled and things were all over, Sykes had gotten back on the winning side of things after defeating Phil Atkens. Some would say not like it was a big victory, but it was certainly noticed by those running things.
Reason being is this coming week on Asylum, Sykes finds himself in a pretty important Triple Threat Match. He will be up against Former World Heavyweight Champion: Jason Kash and Jair Hopkins with the winning becoming the number one contender for Michael Callahan’s APW Pro Life Championship. Pretty big match with something big on the line.
Thing was though, not very many people were taking a look at Sykes. He was already being overlooked because of who was in the match. Damn near everyone assumed that Jason Kash was going to leave the winner and that was all based on the fact that he is the former World Heavyweight Champion. It proves that Kash is good without a doubt but does that give him an automatic win?
And then those who didn’t think Kash was going to win were assuming Hopkins as going to win. He was such a big deal down on Meltdown and people seem to think that he is the future of Asylum and the future of APW as a whole. That means that there isn’t really anyone supporting Sykes or assuming that he is going to win. Once again proving his point that he has been forgotten about.
Sykes had been forgotten about so many times in the past and had been the underdog several times as well. No doubt about it that he was used to being in this role and therefore it really wouldn’t bother him. However if Kash and Hopkins wanted any chance of actually winning come Asylum, they better start taking things a little more serious or their gonna end up getting SYKED OUT!

Our cameras open up to a bit of an undisclosed location. Upon doing so the cameras happen to zoom right on in on APW Mega Star: Johnny Sykes. He was standing there with a grin per usual and his hands placed inside the pockets of his jeans. Clearly there was a reason for this and a reason he planned on telling everyone.
Johnny Sykes: Hai thurr folks. It is once again your friendly neighborhood Super Hero, and boy do I have a little something-something to say today. It shouldn’t come as any surprise to those who pay attention to the dirt sheets or to those who listen to Kash’s pot-head filled rants. On the twenty nineth edition of Asylum, I’ll be in a match against Jason Kash and Jair Hopkins or as I like to call him Jair-Jair Binks with the winning becoming the new number one contender for Mikey Callahan’s Pro-Life Championship.
There was a small nod from Sykes. Indeed for the most people already knew about the match and fans all across the world were excited for it. It was bound to be quite the matchup and they were dying to see it all unfold before their very eyes.
Johnny Sykes: Most people would assume that I’d be excited for something like that and that would be a correct assumption. I am excited but at the same time I have a little bit of a bitter taste left in my mouth when it comes to this match. More so when it comes to Jason Kash, because you see I was fond of Kash and we pretty much got a long behind the scenes. But then the moment a match between us is announced his entire attitude changes and he starts talking mad trash about me.
Sykes proceeded to shake his head a bit. It was almost as if he was disappointed in Kash and the things that he had said. However in the back of his mind somehow he expected it to happen.
Johnny Sykes: Sorta like what happened when I faced Sally a month ago. Just from the way I view things, if you’re friends with someone then you remain loyal. You don’t need to change who you are or anything like that just because you happen to have to face someone. Maybe that’s just me because it seems that other people don’t share the same outlook that I do. Oh well though, I guess I know how things are now and I know what I have to do.
Now the way he worded things was going to be enough to catch the attention of a lot of people. Most people would want to know what it meant and where he was going with things but they’d likely never find out till the match rolled around.
Johnny Sykes: Kash, you bitched and whined that I hadn’t said anything prior to today. Well sorry that I actually have a life outside of wrestling and I don’t spend my time on a sofa getting high and cutting promos. Sure, I love this business but it doesn’t consume me and it isn’t just who I am. There is more to me than that, but of course you don’t seem to think so. After all you shit all over me and said I didn’t have a chance in this match because I was a video gamer, I was prankster, and all this other crap. Well dude, you’re going to find out differently real soon.
Sykes had looked directly at the cameras when making that statement. For the first time in like forever he was being a little serious with things. Not very often did people see that from him but clearly he felt the need to do so.
Johnny Sykes: I do have to admit that I find it pretty damn funny, you’re talking shit about me and you’re the one that has fallen from grace. You gone from being in the Main Event and being the World Heavyweight Champion to competing in the opening match for a chance to go after a title that is lower than the World Title. But it doesn’t end there though, You claim I don’t have a chance and that I’m just a joke. You claim you got this match won and that you’ll be the new number one contender. Yet last week you had a chance to become the number one contender for the World Championship and you failed at that. Way I see you’re going to fail again.
Once again Sykes was coming hard and going with strong statements. He was putting himself in a position with his words where what he said had to actually happen because if it didn’t then people would never take him seriously again.
Johnny Sykes: Say what you will about me Kash, because in reality it doesn’t matter to everyone else. I’m still a kid coming up here in APW. I am still someone that has to prove himself around here. You on the other hand are established star here and the statement fits you when someone says ‘oh the mighty have fallen’ because indeed you have. I tell you this much though, you’ll find out just how much of a joke I am and you’ll find out just how much of a loser I am when we’re in the same ring together. Don’t be surprised though if I relocate your jaw to the other side of your face brah.
Sykes grinned just a little bit more. It appeared that he had some kind of plan to make everything that he was saying happened. That was the only logical explanation seeing as Sykes was never this serious and never ran his mouth the way he was now.
Johnny Sykes: And now that brings me to Jair Hopkins or as I call him Jair-Jair Binks … Oh and by the way Kash, nice to see you stalk my twitter account. Because that’s exactly where you got the name, I came up with it first but nice to see you’re jealous of my style and had to jack my flavor… Anyway, like I said that now brings me to Jair-Jair Binks. The two of us have a lot in common in a sense that we’ve got a lot to prove and we’re kind of the underdogs to this match. Not very many people see us winning all because we are facing a former World Heavyweight Champion. Now this is where we get to prove our critics wrong.
He nodded his head once again. That was also a true statement, a lot of people did count them out based on the fact that they were going up against Kash and his status as a former champion. However the two of them could prove people wrong.
Johnny Sykes: But you see as I am sure you know by now. There is only one underdog that can win. Only one of us can defeat Kash and only one of us can go on to face Mikey Callahan for that championship of his. And I hate to break it to you brah, but that person isn’t going to be you. See, you can brag about how you’re a gangsta and how you’ve dodged bullets. Hell, you could have gotten shot nine times like fifty cent and it still wouldn’t make me think differently. This aint the gang world, but this is the wrestling world and in the wrestling world is where I run stuff. I aint saying you don’t have a shot at beating me, but I am saying I’m going to make damn sure I do whatever I have to see to it that doesn’t happen.
Hopkins would have something differently to say about that for sure. Just like Kash would have something to say in rebuttal to the two of them being able to defeat him. In this business it was all about egos and keeping yourself in the game. Sykes knew how to do just that.
Johnny Sykes: I realize the three of us are hungry for success. I realize the three of us desire to be champion. I realize that the three of us desire to be at the very best in the world and damn sure the very best here in APW. Kash has proven he has the ability to do that. Hopkins busted his ass on Meltdown to get the spot he is now and for the last six years, I have been doing all that I can to climb up the ladder of success. I’m now just inches away from reaching out and grabbing that brass ring if you will. It is time for me to reach out and pull that sucker down.
Sykes looked up nodding his head a little more. His time was coming soon and that was something that he knew. It was something that he couldn’t wait to have actually happen. After all he had been chasing the dream for so long.
Johnny Sykes: Come Asylum Boys, it’s time for me to go full on Batman and whoop your asses. Cause there is no friggin’ way I am going to allow myself to fail again. Yall better just get used to it!
On that note Sykes just gave the cameras a little wink and then turned his back to them. He started to walk off until he was completely out of the cameras view. Nothing left to be said and nothing left to do. The scene slowly faded out to static leaving things up in the air till the match rolled around.
