Today the official APW camera crew was set up in a different setting. One unlike any other setting they had ever been a part of before. It was set up inside an elementary class room. Standing up in front of the class was an slightly younger woman. One could only assume that it was the teacher.
Teacher: Boys and girls, I have a treat for you today. We’re going to have a special guest in the class room today that will be discussing the important of staying off drugs. Why don’t we get a warm welcome to APW Superstar and hometown hero, Johnny Sykes!
Upon hearing the name the kids in the class room went insane. They were all right around the age where wrestling was the cool thing going around but at the same time on the edge of crossing over to being a pre-teen. That is when the door to the class room opened up and in walked Sykes.
It only caused the kids to get a little bit louder. Sykes waved to them all as he made his way in front of the class room. It was pretty obvious that today was going to be an interesting day for not only the children in the class room but him as well. As soon as the kids quieted down he began speaking to them.
Johnny Sykes: Hello there boys and girls. I am sure you guys have seen me on television especially if you are a big fan of Action Packed Wrestling. I was asked to come here today to talk about drugs and how you guys should never use them, but I’m not one of those grill them and drill kind guys. I actually like to make things a little fun and I feel people learn better that way. That’s why I have decided to use my match that is coming up against Jason Kash as an example to why you kids should never do drugs. So allow me to start off with the ever so cliché this is your brain… and this is your brain on drugs.
On that note Sykes turned around towards the chalkboard and pulled down a string that revealed a goofy looking picture of Jason Kash. It was him there in his wrestling gear with a toothless smile as visible as it could be.
The picture was so goofy looking that it actually got quite a few laughs and giggles from the kids there in the class room. Sykes himself couldn’t help but laugh a little bit himself before turning his attention back to them.
Johnny Sykes: You see that right there is Jason Kash. He is a former two time World Heavyweight Champion. He is a former TapOut Champion and a former Tag Team Champion w/ Shane Borderland. You’d know guess that he’d be any of those things when you look at him. You’d never guess any of those things if you paid attention to any of his promos. And you’d never even begin to believe those things if you listened to him brag about being a pot smoker. After all not very many people that smoke pot or do any kind of drug for that matter end up being very successful in life.
Sykes paused for a moment as he looked out at all the children. He could tell that he had their attention one hundred percent. That’s exactly what he wanted and it seemed that he was on the right route to doing so.
Johnny Sykes: Now I know what you kids are thinking. Well if people that do drugs aren’t successful then why does Kash have the achievements that he does. That’s actually an easy answer folks. Everybody in this world stumbles upon luck at some given point. I can’t begin to explain why but people that do drugs end up stumbling across it a lot more than normal people. Thing is though that luck never lasts for very long. In fact this last time things have really began to fall apart for Jason Kash. He went from being World Champion to essentially nothing. He didn’t lose the world title because he doesn’t have talent. He didn’t lose the world title because Anthony Bailey was just the better man. He lost the world title because of the pot he continues to smoke.
Of course Sykes knew that once this ended up being released onto the APW website. Kash was going to lose his cool and go off the deep end doing his best to defend things as well as claim that Sykes was wrong. It just wasn’t going to work out for him very well.
Johnny Sykes: It is a proven fact that when you smoke pot or any other drug. It slows your reaction time down. That was proven in his match with Bailey. He wasn’t as quick as he used to be. Drugs also kill your brain cells and upon killing the brain cells essentially you’re doing nothing but making yourself stupider and stupider as the day goes on. That was proven in his match with Bailey. Kash wasn’t as sharp as a tack and he couldn’t stay ahead of Bailey like he would he was actually sober. It also proven that if you do drugs enough as time goes on they essentially ruin your life. It seems that Kash’s life is professional wrestling and little by little it is starting to become ruined. Little by little he is starting to lose grip. Little by little Kash is losing the only thing he has and before long it’s going to be gone.
He slightly nodded his head a little bit. Children sat there listening to him with their entire attention on them. Sykes was certainly doing a good job when it came to driving these points home for them. All he could do is hope they would listen.
Johnny Sykes: First he lost the world title. Then he lost a chance to become the number one contender. Then last week things ended in a little bit of cluster fudge and now with Shockwave just around the corner. Myself, Kash, Hops, and Callahan are all about to go at it in a Fatal Four Way Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match for the Pro-Life Championship. In a heartbeat I would say that Kash has a better chance at winning than most of us due to his history, but that the pot is hindering him. It slowly but surely keeps pushing him down the ranks and to be honest it isn’t going to help him at all come Sunday when the two of us step into the ring with each other. It’ll once again affect him and I’ll be leaving with a victory.
Sykes made the statement with confidence. Lots of the kids wanted to see him win anyhow but giving them a reason to cheer for him by exposing Kash for what he was. That just gained him more fans and you could never go wrong with more fans.
Johnny Sykes: Well kids are there any questions you’d have for me?
Little Boy #1: Yes, I have a question Johnny. Um, I’m actually a fan of Kash but I didn’t know he did bad things like drugs. But uh, if drugs are so bad then how come he thinks he’s going to beat you on Sunday night?
Johnny Sykes: That is rather common with people that do drugs. They don’t see what they are doing is wrong even though the effects are pretty obvious. People that do drugs seem to think they are immortal and at times they feel like they have this God complex when they cannot be touched. Clearly that’s exactly what Kash is experiencing and they will say anything as long as it sounds good to them while they are in their high state. However once you get in the ring it’s a different story. I assure you Kash is going to struggle big time when we get into the ring with each other. And like I said I’m going to eventually leave with the victory.
Little Girl: Mr. Sykes sir, you preach about drugs being bad and I see why, but have you ever done them? I’m just curious to know how you can have such a high opinion on being against them.
Johnny Sykes: I won’t lie to you kids. There was once a few years ago I smoked a little bit of weed with my friend. That was one of the stupidest decisions I have ever made in my life. I saw how much of a goofball it made me look. It wasn’t a feeling that lasted very long and I didn’t care for the feeling afterwards. Not to mention it truly affected my wrestling ability the very next night. People say it’s not that bad but it really is. I experienced it for myself and I never want to experience it again.
Little Boy #2: Johnny, are you telling all of us that as long as we stay away from drugs we can be as successful as you? It seems a little unrealistic seeing your almost like Hulk Hogan status.
Johnny Sykes: First of all dude, don’t ever compare me to that old sack of bones. I’d like to think I am on levels above Hogan. Anyway though, I’m flattered that you would think that I am successful. I personally think I have awhile to go before I’m there especially within APW but you know I’m giving it the best I possibly can. Maybe it’ll pull off soon enough and I’ll be sitting at top as the champion.
He gave a little smile towards the kids sitting there listening to him. Sykes truly did want to be champion but he knew it’d be awhile before he got there. He also knew that this wasn’t really the time to be discussing that. He went right back to answering the question at hand.
Johnny Sykes: Anyway though, yes if you guys stay away from drugs and even alcohol and really put your mind to the things you want most in life. Then I have no doubt at all each and every last one of you will end up being successful in whatever path you choose. For all you know you could be the next Michael Jordan. You could be the next Bob Saget. Heck, you could even be the next Johnny Sykes. It’s all about removing the negativity from your life and remaining positive.
He was glad to see that the kids were so willing to get involved with the questions. However he knew that his time was running thin and he still wanted to get his final message to them all which is why he began speaking at this very moment.
Johnny Sykes: Well kids, it was great seeing all of you here today. I can only hope that you’ll listen to what I had to say and understand that drugs are bad for you. You don’t want to end up being a loser and having everything taken away from you like Jason Kash. Now be sure to watch my match this Sunday, I could use all the support I can get.
Sykes proceeded to wave to all the kids as they cheered and clapped for him. That’s when he turned and made his way towards the class room door walking right on out of it. He had done his job with the kids and at the same time had made sure to tie things into his match seeing as he knew Kash was eventually going to see this. It was certainly going to be a great match between them. No matter which one of them left with a victory they would surely have deserved it.
