( STEP IT UP KID )
Starring: Johnny Sykes & DXC Location: Los Angeles, CA Attire: Click Here[/center]
It was the morning before Shockwave and while the Original Pranksta, Johnny Sykes should have been sleeping. That wasn’t the case instead he sat in his hotel room with his best friend, former tag partner, and mentor: David Xavier Christensen. Both of them had their attention focused on the television in front of them as they happened to be enjoying a round of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare three – Sykes current favorite video game.
David Xavier Christensen: You do realize that there is a reason for why I am here right? And no that reason doesn’t include playing video games even though I know that’s what you want.
Johnny Sykes: Yeah, yeah. I know but this is a good stress reliver and I am sure that whatever you’re going to tell me is something that I already know. Figured we could knock two birds out with one stone. Besides you know it’s been awhile since I was given a chance to own your ass on the sticks mah dude.
David Xavier Christensen: Oh is that so? Well why don’t you go ahead and fill me in Johnny what do you think I am going to tell you? I’d like to hear this one because I am sure you are more than off on this one.
Sykes was tapping the top button on his controller trying to shoot David down in the game. It was clear that his mind wasn’t where it needed to be and that was part of David’s problem but little did Sykes know there was a lot more to it.
Johnny Sykes: Pfft bro, I know you better than you think I do. I have heard all the lectures and all the talks that you can really give me. All you’re going to tell me now is that I need to be focused tonight. You’ll tell me that I have all the right tools to become champion. I just have to find a way to put it all together. You’ll tell me that I am better than those guys and that you’re going to support me much like everyone else is.
David Xavier Christensen: And just like I said you’re wrong. You had no idea what I was actually going to say. Sure, about half of that is right. You do need to focus. You know that I’ll be supporting you and you know that you have what it takes to be champion but there is something else I need to tell you.
Johnny Sykes: C’mon bro, what else can possibly said? No need for you to switch things up after all these years, besides I know all of that and trust me when tonight rolls around. It’ll be all good. I’ll be good to go. I’m going to leave the Pro Life Champion.
David Xavier Christensen: Good to see you are confident and claim that you’re going to be focused. However truth be told Johnny, you got this far and you have been doing great. Now that you are in this match things need to change and you need to step it up kid. You either step it up or all this hard work isn’t going to matter.
That is when Sykes put the game on pause and turned to David. It appeared that he was a little shocked. It was almost as if he hadn’t expected David to say what he said. Of course at the same time David did tell him he had something to tell Sykes that he hadn’t heard him say before.
Johnny Sykes: Wait, what are you trying to say dude?
David Xavier Christensen: I am saying that you need to step it up if you want to be champion. Everything that has brought you to this dance has been good enough to get you in, but now that you are in. Things have to change Johnny. You have to step it up to a level that you have never been on before. That is the only way you are going to leave champion.
Johnny Sykes: Well… shit brah. I thought that I was going to be alright in this match and that I had enough to put on me on the level I needed to be on. Obviously I am wrong though, so what is it going to take to put me on the level I want and need to be on dude?
David Xavier Christensen: We’re bros Johnny. I have been your best friend for the last seven years. I have given you all kinds of advice. We have been the best in our divisions for a long time but this time I am going to let you swim on your own. You have to find out on your own what it takes to get there. You have to find out on your own how it all comes together. You yourself have to put yourself on that next level. I have faith in the fact you’ll be able to figure it out.
On that note David pushed himself off of the couch there in the hotel room and turned headed towards the door. Moments later he had walked out of it leaving Sykes sitting there and leaving him to mow over a couple of things. David believed that Sykes had all the tools to win and believed that he very well could leave with the championship. In order to do that though, he had to change a few things around. He had to step it up to a new level. Now we would have to wait and see what happens.
( ONE SHOT…ONE OPPORTUNITY )

Our cameras proceeded to open inside the locker-room of one Johnny Sykes. There the man sat lacing up his wrestling boots when he looked up at the cameras to acknowledge them. He wasted no time at all flashing a boyish little grin before beginning to speak to the APW audience.
Johnny Sykes: Finally the night I have been thinking about all week has arrived. I am of course talking about Shockwave. I didn’t think that I was ever going to find myself in a position like this. I mean I believed that I could be something and I believed that if the chance ever came that I’d be able to rise to the occasion but after all the years of hearing the same thing over and over again. I didn’t think the opportunity and chance was ever going to come for me.
But I got that chance a little over three weeks ago when the triple threat match took place between J-Hops, Kash, and Myself. I knew that I had to bring it like no one else. I knew I had to make the most out of that opportunity. I knew that there was no room for failure or anything like that. I entered that match and I gave it everything that I had. Granted, it didn’t end the way I wanted. It didn’t end the way that anyone else wanted. But I still did enough to impress the GM and that has landed me a spot in this Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match.
No doubt about it Sykes was pretty pumped up for being in the match. It meant that he had proved a lot of people wrong but at the same time the match was right up his alley. It’d be interesting to see how he did later that night.
Johnny Sykes: Ever since I stepped foot in the match though, I have heard a lot of things from a lot of different people. Mostly from Kash, because it seems he is the most upset about me being in this match. It seems that he doesn’t feel like I belong here. It seems that he doesn’t feel that I deserve this spot and apparently he feels that I am below him. He has this mentality that I’m not that great and that he is better than me. Yet he continues to overlook the fact I have beaten him twice. I pinned him to get in this match… even if he pinned me as well but then last week. I beat him in the center of the ring. One on one, no outside distractions, no cheating, no anything. I beat him fair and square, but he continues to overlook that fact and continues to write me off. I tell you what though Kash. You want to think that? Go right ahead. You want to preach about the season of J.A.S.O.N and you want to talk about this violence that you are going to bring. Go ahead and do just that, because at this point all you are doing is setting yourself up for failure. You see I said it once and I’ll say it again. Kash, you have lost your touch. You are going downhill my friend. You are on the fast track to becoming just an afterthought.
You see, you told the world that you wouldn’t lose the World Heavyweight Championship to Anthony Bailey, but then you did. You claimed you’d win the number one contenders match to face Bailey, but you didn’t. You said that I wouldn’t beat you last week, and I did. Now, you’re claiming I can’t beat you and no one else will. You claim that you will leave with the Pro-Life Championship, but being the bearer of bad news. That isn’t going to happen Kash, and you are once again going to be left looking like a dumbass.
Not very often was Sykes ever that serious or ever went with legit insults, but this time it was called for. Kash had managed to rub Sykes the wrong way and get under his skin. There was a good chance that wouldn’t end very well for Kash later tonight, but we’d all have to wait and see.
Johnny Sykes: At least there was someone that has had a little bit of respect for me, and that someone happens to be Jair-Jair Binks. I think the reason that is happens to be because of the two of us knowing what it takes to go from being at the bottom and having to work your way up. I started at the bottom several years ago and it took me awhile to even be in a position where I am on the main stream level and where people actually know who I am. Same thing with Jair-Jair, he started at the very bottom here in APW. He worked his way up on Meltdown. He did all that he could to catch the attention of people. He without a doubt did all that he could to make a name for himself. He deserves a spot on Asylum. He might not deserve a shot in this match considering how he got it, but he does deserve a spot on Asylum seeing as he really worked for it in my opinion.
But there is just one problem I have with Jair-Jair, and no it has nothing to do with him being a part of the match despite not really deserving it. I heard him mention something along the lines of me being a joke. There it is once again with someone calling me a joke. It has been all I have for years now. I am a joke because I don’t do what everyone else does. I am a joke because I don’t follow the same mold. I am a joke because I like to have fun and don’t take everything so seriously. I might do things differently, but I’m no joke and rest assured brah. I’m going to make you eat your words tonight.
It seemed that he didn’t take too kindly to being called a joke. Much like he didn’t take too kindly to being wrote off as nothing special. It would appear that Kash and Hops were really setting themselves up for a long time with the Original Pranksta.
Johnny Sykes: Then there is the silent one out of all of us. Funny that he is silent seeing as he is the man with the biggest target on his back. I’d be talking about our Pro-Life Champion: Mikey Callahan. I’m not quite sure if him being on the hush-hush with things has anything to do with a trick up his sleeve or what. However what I do know is this much… Mikey has ducked and dodged enough real challenges in his short career here with APW. I give him credit though like I said once before. He has managed to leave champion with the few challenges her did have. I can’t crap on him for that but I don’t exactly agree with the way he has managed to win. Not to mention tonight there isn’t much of a way for him to escape or do things underhanded.
He is going to have to actually get his hands dirty and he is actually gonna have to give it his best if he wants to leave with the title. But here’s the thing with that, Mikey has had that title for far too long and he has pretty much defaced it. He has ruined everything that it was meant to stand for, and I for one am all about honor and respect when it comes to championships. That’s why I am personally going to see to it that I knock Mikey off his little throne and be the person that takes over. Homie can try to stop me, but in the end he’ll fail like all the rest.
Much like everyone else, Sykes had his few choice words for the Pro-Life Champion. It likely wouldn’t matter to Callahan, but regardless the champ actually had to step up and defend that belt. Not many seen it being a success. With that being said Sykes had a final message to deliver.
Johnny Sykes: Tonight is my one spot. It is my one opportunity and I’m not going to miss my chance to blow. This opportunity only comes once in a lifetime and one way or another. No matter what I got to do or what I got to go through. I am leaving here tonight as the brand spanking new Pro-Life Champion!
On that note Sykes proceeded to turn his attention right back to lacing up his boots. Here is where the cameras started to zoom out just a little bit. Sykes had gotten everything that he needed to across, well at least all that he could when it came to the talking aspect of things. All that was left now was for him to get in the ring and backing up everything that he said. It wasn’t an easy task but he could do it. just then the cameras faded on out to static.
