***We see a woman walking alone, its a cloudy day outside. She's wearing jeans with holes ripped in the knee's on purpose, she also has a white tanktop with the phrase 'Nobody's Angel, Nobody's Devil' inscribed in Dark Red letters. She has a black and white pair of Chuck Taylor's on her feet. We then get a close-up of the young woman's face to reveal her trademark earring that is connected to her nose piercing, her black hair blowing as she walks.***
Shanell: "My future, starts here and now. My past? Well, it hasn't been pretty. You know what its like to come home from school, after fighting every single day, to cheese and bread in the house to eat? Not the good cheese either, I'm talking government cheese. Not pleasant. Tap water to drink, and to wash the scrapes off that were on my face from the fighting. Yeah, life hasn't always been easy, but, I'm used to struggle. I embrace it. I live it."
***Shanell is walking still, we see fenced in single houses, dogs can be heard barking in the background. Shanell is unfazed, this is home for her.***
"My opponents for my very first match in APW, what do they know about struggle? What do they know about not knowing what to expect from day to day? Honestly, I don't know. I don't judge people, but I've also never been lazy. I do my research, and what I found out is a little shocking.
Mr.Dangerous...this guy sounds like a joke. I guarantee I've beaten up boys tougher than him in 9th grade. You rarely win matches, you fall on your face on the way to the ring, and you look like a grade A certified nerd."
***Shanell laughs, only temporarily and she even cracks a smile. We see her beautiful smile, teeth and all, and you see the pain filled eyes brighten up, amused even. She comes across a bench on the side of the road, its a bench people sit on to wait for the transit bus. She takes a seat.***
"But, I know what its like to be bullied. I've been different my entire life. I've never fit in. So, I'm not going to make fun of you. What I'm going to do is give you a warning. You see, I've busted my butt to get a chance to wrestle in order to pay the bills. This is all I've wanted, ever since I was a little girl. I just wanted to wrestle. The fact that it could help me and my family tremendously is a huge bonus and motivator for me as well.
I remember watching Lita, she was such a bad ass. She was in there with the boys. Doing moonsaults, and flips all over the place. But, not only that, she was mixing it up with the guys and winning. But, she could take a beating too. But she never quit. She got back up, and the very next week did the same stuff. She made me see that a strong woman, could be just as successful as a male if she was willing to work for it. She proved that limits are only something put on yourself when looking for excuses, because in reality, there ARE NO EXCUSES OR LIMITS"
***Cars are passing by, Shanell again is unfazed. She looks down at her hands. Her nails painted black and begins figeting around some. Not nervous, just ready.***
She wasn't my only hero growing up. I looked up to some of the guys as well. Rey Mysterio, a guy who I saw fighting giants. His heart was incredible. Shawn Michaels. Same thing, he was fighting guys twice his size, and he wasn't just a winner, he was dominant. Impeccable. And his attitude is something else I admired. He looked authority in the face and said SCREW YOU, I'm doing this MY WAY! I've picked up bits and pieces from all of my favorites and all of my inspirations, and I'm ready to showcase all of ME to the APW audience.
I was kicked out of school at 15, and when I was, I went right to work. I worked at Rusty's Supermarket 6 days a week, 7 when they would let me, just to be able to help my mom provide for us. There was no man in the house to do it, so I stepped up. But, while it was mostly to help my mother, part of it was to help myself too. As I said my dream was to always be a wrestler, and my mom couldn't afford to send me to wrestling school to train, so, I worked and saved every little bit that wasn't needed for bills to pay for my schooling.
I didn't have the newest sneakers, or the hottest fashions, I didn't need them. But, at age 17, I was able to start training. And, once I got a taste of what it was like to be in the ring, I knew I could never look back. That this was the job for me. This was my destiny. And destiny is upon me finally. Its took 4 years, but, after training I had to go back to work to keep us from getting evicted.
I made enough money to not only keep a roof over my mothers head, but I even made enough to get myself a small one bedroom apartment. And now, the door to my dream is open. I'm here. I'm FINALLY here."
***She again smiles and is looking down at the ground, still trying to get the feeling of being signed to sink in. This is what she's always wanted.***
"I do have another opponent besides Mr.Dangerous though. That other opponent is "The New Black" James Noir. Here is someone, that didn't even recognize me as his opponent. He obviously doesn't respect me as a strong woman, because if he did, he would have noticed I was one of his opponents as well. But, I'll give him the respect he deserves. He's bigger than me, and, he's probably full of himself, I mean he is from New York City. I heard about him being unhappy about having to be in this match, he thinks he deserves better right off the bat, but he'll see that he more than has his hands full with me and Mr.Dangerous.
You see James, I don't know if you were raised with a silver spoon in your mouth, or if you were raised just as I was, but I do know one thing, in life, in REAL LIFE as an adult, NOTHING is handed to you. If you want to make it to the top, you have to earn it. Just like I do. Just as anyone does. If you expect to be put on TV right away, against people that have been here for years, well you may want to go home now. I guarantee you, even though our match won't be televised, I will give you the FIGHT OF YOUR LIFE at Meltdown. This is what I"ve wanted since I was a little girl, this is what I NEED in order to survive, this is all that I have. This is my life. And if you want my life, you better be ready to work for it and be willing to take it from me because I PROMISE I will NOT be handing it to you!"
***A bus pulls up and Shanell doesn't get on it, as others around her board the bus, she's still sitting on the bench. Its getting darker out as day is turning to night.***
Meltdown, Boise Idaho, September 24th, is where it all begins for me. The life that I've always longed for, is now within reach. I know it won't be easy, but I don't want it to be. I'm used to fighting, so this is a comfort zone for me. I respect both of my opponents, but I won't give them the satisfaction of giving me a loss in my first match. You only get one chance to make a first impression. This is my thanks to the people in upper management that saw something in a girl from Anaheim California. I promise I won't make you regret giving me this platform to do what I love. Winning isn't an option, its a MUST. Trust me, Shanell is here to stay, and after Meltdown, James Noir and Mr.Dangerous will see that first hand. Their first impression to the fans will be one of dissapointment, but their impression of me will be filled with pain, fear, and new found respect."
***She stands up and begins walking away***
"APW...My time is now. I appreciate the opportunity, and now I prove why I'm worth it."
*FADE TO BLACK.*
