Yeah that is true when it's someone helpless. Somethings just best left to be debated and that's one of those things where people of logic must say "Ooookaaayyy...?"

I think you forget that he wasn't ever a TRUE face in the sense of Hogan or Cena. He wasn't meant to be a role model, nor was Austin, instead, he was a vehicle for them to live vicariously through, both him and Austin. Austin did what they wanted to do: flip off the boss, hit him with a chair, etc. Rock said what they wanted to say, "Cole, you're a nerd." "Who in the blue hell are you?"
You also forget that Rock and Austin were both during the Attitude Era, a different time in America when being edgy was the norm, being bad was cool. Being politically correct wasn't something that was on the minds of anyone. I mean, look at kid's products now a days. When i was a kid, sugary cereals and the such were marketed towards us as cool. Chester Cheetah was a skate boarding cheetah that ate Cheetos. The Trix Rabbit was trying to get sugary cereal, but was told "Trix is for kids!" and other products that are no longer around why? Because people got all upset that everything bad for kids was getting advertised. Now, I don't see Trix commercials as much, lucky charms and fruity pebbles as well. I'd walk up the cereal aisle at work and the amount of parents telling kids that if they ate the sugary cereals they'll be short all their lives and I was like, ah, no I grew up on these cereals and I'm 6'3''
But on top to bullies in wrestling and what not, if it wasn't for BAStar, this would be nothing to talk about because Hogan was a bully, picking on Heenan whenever he could get him in the ring, faces have been bullies, it's just now there is BAStar and its moronic when THE FACE OF THE COMPANY is stripping a scrawny announcer to his underwear and dumping bbq sauce on him and making fun of him on live TV and in front of thousands in attendance for entertainment...ALL BECAUSE THE GUY SAID HE CRITICIZED HIM! That's the only reason why. And then Sheamus, the guy who gets shown on all the BAStar, steals a car for no reason, destroys it and makes fun of a guy by mocking his own language.
Now I love it, why? Because I'm an asshole. I like when a big pale dude mocks a little hispanic fellow.

It sends sort of a mixed message, but at the same time, its fake... their not actually doing those things, its scripted. and its extremely entertaining.

Fans living vicariously through Austin I can get and appreciate. Anyone who has had a douche for a boss will appreciate Stone Cold flipping off McMahon and whatnot because the Mr. McMahon character was built to be something so loathsome that there was a justification. (Although one has to take it all with a big pinch of irony when you think a corporate company like WWE was using 'the villainous corporate prick' as a means to rake it on off their fans).
As for The Rock, I still disagree. He's just a jock picking on a nerd; it's not cool and nor was it ever entertaining. With hindsight people might say 'Cole is a douche, he deserved it', but back then Cole had no heel heat for being a lame heel commentator, he was just some non-wrestling guy backstage The Rock picked on to make himself feel better and to make all those moronic jocks in the crowd get a cheap thrill out of some asshole picking on a nerd.
Even when he comes back all he talks about his penis, joke about banging Cena's mother, make quasi-homosexual jibes, and be a general lame-o. His return was good for business for WWE, but I hardly thought it enhanced the product.

did anybody else notice the fan jumping in the ring during the 1 of the matches? the ref was able to keep him out of "the atch" while security dragged him out while the dudes hat was left behind in the ring.
