Insider Source: GOP Panic at Callahan China Visit.
With APW's Asylum brand looking to have the penultimate show of its annual tour of Asia in the Chinese capital of Beijing, an insider at the GOP has described the epidemic of terror at the potential harm the outspoken Republican wrestler Michael Callahan could possibly do with a microphone in what has been allegedly described by a RNC member as "a potentially fatal blow to America's foreign relations".
Our source reports that several urgent phone calls have been made in a desperate attempt to prevent Callahan being flown out to the home of the 2008 Olympics. Callahan himself who holds an honours degree in Political Theory from Yale as well as a number of accolades from the Department of Economics at New York University has apparently refused to answer e-mails or take calls for the duration of his journey and has been unable to be reached for comment.
Although it remains to be seen whether or not Callahan will follow party lines and stay his tongue, the Washington born stridant advocate of democracy's criticisms of China and its' human rights record have been well documented. Even as early as 2004 when he was a member of Yale University's prestigious debate team he was believed to have said in a motion about encouraging US market relations with China; "In this country we have vans driven by maniacs, members of the public who'll offer you a puppy while failing to mention you might nto be seen again. Over there they have vans run by the state that'll strap you up, pump you up full of drugs and sell your organs on the black market. It's a despicable place and we as civilised Americans should not cooperate with such an uncivilised, brutal nation on economic levels until we can do so on a human level."
Ultimately though the GOP's hysteria around Callahan's visit to China may be all for nought and the panic and attempts to control the double careered young man may be more damaging than what Callahan may do which may simply be nothing at all. All in all Callahan although zealotic and somewhat Draconian in his ideas is a through and through patriot and would (hopefully for the GOP) silence himself in the interest of what is best for the country.
