::Light trickles in through the windows of a gymnasium in San Francisco, California. There is a ring in the center of the gym. Various parts of the floor are matted. Along the walls are weight sets and other such type of training equipment like the butterfly or treadmills. Punching bags hang from the ceiling.::
::There is someone at one of the bags. The person, however, is not punching the bag. She is instead kicking it. The woman appears to be Chinese, in her mid-twenties with her long hair tied back in a ponytail. She is dressed in a pair of shorts, a tank top with a long sleeved shirt underneath and a pair of sneakers.::
::She stops kicking the bag and sits down to catch her breath. She picks up a towel and wipes her face, draping it over her shoulder. Next to her is a large bottle of water which she picks up and takes a drink.::
“Oh hello.”
::Her English is flawless, with a slight English accent due to having grown up in Hong Kong, China during final years of Britain’s rule of the island.::
“For those who do not know, which I believe would be most of you, my name is Amy Zing and I am one of the newest members of the APW roster.”
“It has been about a year or so since the last time I appeared on television and I think longer than I was one a pay-per-view. Now I am here in the APW, ready to make my debut on the One Night In Hell pay-per-view in a Japanese deathmatch battle royal.”
::She seems to appear somewhat confused by that concept.::
“I know what a battle royal is. I do not quite understand why they specified over the top rope. I doubt very much a Japanese deathmatch reverse battle royal be anything less than a more violent catastrophe of a match than a regualr reverse battle royal which never made sense to me as a concept. I know what a Japanese deathmatch is. It is like a street fight in that it has no rules and can only end in the ring, but much more violent. I just don’t really get how a combination of the two works. I have a vague idea, like a really violent battle royal with weapons and various items not being used for their original intentions, unless of course they were weapons.”
::Amy takes another drink. She still looks a bit confused.::
“Anyway, knowing how both a Japanese deathmatch and a battle royal work, I have maybe the vaguest of ideas as to how a combination of the two would work. I am under the assumption that it would be a really violent battle royal involving explosives and various items most definitely not being uses as intended, unless of course they are weapons to begin with, then they would be used for their actual purpose. I’m a bit nervous about entering a match like this to be honest. I mean I can wrestle a battle royal pretty well, or at least as well as anyone in a battle royal can wrestle such a match. It is more the Japanese deathmatch aspect of the match that has me nervous as I do not have a lot of experience in such matches. Okay, I don’t have any experience in matches like that really. And I am not a violent person. I mean, sure, I am a wrestler and it is competitive physical sport, but I didn’t get into this because I am a violent person. Sure, I use a lot of kicks, often times to the head of my opponent, but that is different than using a chair or a table or thumbtacks or an iron skillet or some other such item. That takes a different kind of mentality. I’m not a win at all cost or do whatever it takes or by any means necessary type of wrestler. Yes, I use a lot of high risk offense, but that’s not the same as just bludgeoning a person to gin a victory or doing something like placing one’s feet on the ropes or the hooking of tights. I do not go out to the ring in order to hurt my opponent and gain the victory. While I may not be entirely comfortable with a hardcore environment, I will still go out into that ring at One Night In Hell and give it absolutely everything I have. Every single time I go out into that ring, I give everything I have because I honestly believe I owe my fans, my opponent and myself that much. I keep fighting until I have nothing left. I fight with everything I have and I never give up because my fans will never give up on me, so I cannot quit on them. I accept nothing less from myself and bloody hell I am rambling.”
::Amy sighs and leans her head back, looking up at the ceiling. She takes another sigh and lowers her head.::
“Sorry, I tend to do that. Some people tell me it is a charming quirk. Other people seem to think it makes me seem silly. I really don’t even notice I am doing it until I really get going. Anyway, what was I talking about?”
::Realization dawns on her face as the former Playboy cover girl regains her train of thought.::
“Oh yes, the Japanese deathmatch battle royal at One Night In Hell. Quite a way to make a debut in the APW I must say. It is not a match I can guarantee victory in, although I never do guarantee victory. I never have. Suppose I spent all week talking about how great I am, how dominating I am, not that I am dominating at my size, and how superior I am to my opponent and then I get to the match and my opponent wins. I would look rather silly. And look at the people in this match. There is not way I could assure victory even if I was the type to do so.”
“There are two tag teams involved in this match, Comikaze and Educated Money and I would expect that both teams are going to try to work together to win this thing.”
“Personally, I do like the name Comikaze. It is clever. I will admit that I do like Red Crow’s costume a bit more than the Snake Boy’s, not that you have a bad costume Snake Boy, just Red Crow’s seems a bit more stylish. Not totally sure if you are a team up or a hero and sidekick thing. Then again, I heard that you two are not very popular with the fans, so can you really qualify as superheroes? .”
::“The Hong Kong Sensation shrugs , then takes another drink of water.::
“Then there is the team of Ashton Daniels and Jerome Dubois, Educated Money. You two have youth, talent and more than enough ego to back it all up. Personally, I never saw much use for arrogance because there is usually always someone better out there. That being said, I have confidence in my ability. Do not think for a minute that I underestimate my skill or will sell myself short. Arrogance tends to destroy rather than build and costs one much. I know my limitations. Do you?”
::Smiling a bit, Amy shakes her head, then looks towards the camera.::
“Probably not.”
::She inhales deep and exhales slowly.::
“There are so many other people in this match that I do not know. Actually just about all of them really.”
::Taking another drink form the water bottle, she sets it down. She slides the towel off her shoulder and places next to the water bottle. She slides She unties her shoes, retying them to get them tight. She gets back to feet. She resumes her stance in front of the bag::
“An example would be you, William D. Williams Jr. Part of me is wondering if that is your real name. I cannot see how your being a ladies man helps in this match as Terra Bryant is a lesbian and I doubt neither Kaylyn Evans James or I joined the APW to find Mr. Right. I am guessing that is true for Kaylyn, but it is true for me. I will admit, Williams D. Williams Jr., that you have a definite size and strength advantage over me, but I have never let that stop me before and I have no plan to do so now. I can imagine that you are a favorite to win this, but I hope you will excuse me if I try to win instead.”
::With surprising speed and even more surprising power, Amy hit’s a roundhouse kick to the back, resulting in a loud thud noise from the impact.::
“I do imagine that there are others favored to win.”
“John Dionysus, you are a former champion and have had a storied career. You are arguably among the best in the APW, and that makes me definitely looking forward to Sunday. You seem like a good person. I respect that you are trying to look out for your brother and redeem yourself by conquering or moving passed your demons and past mistakes. That cannot be easy. I would like to wish you luck, but that does not that I will not be trying to win the match myself.”
“You cannot have a name like Johnny Knuckles and not be a fighter. You are known as a violent brawler type of fighter. How can this match not favor you? All you need to do is beat people with weapons, be as violent as you like and then toss them over the top rope. You do not even need to pin anyone or make them submit. I do not mean to be rude, but this match should be a proverbial playground for you. I will tell you this, you may win, but I have no intention to make it easy on you.”
“Johnny Knuckles is not the only brawler in this match, there is also you Yarmouth. You have the size, which may not entirely help in a battle royal, but I doubt it will be that much of a hindrance to you. You have the reputation for being tough brawler type of guy. I am told you have that nice mix of size, strength and surprising speed for a guy your size. Maybe that helps you and maybe it does not. As I said, I have never backed down from bigger and stronger and I will not start now.”
“That would also apply to you Deviticus. “the Destroyer”. That, I will admit, does have a nice ring to it. It is memorable. But your name is not a concern of mine. It is what you can do in the ring that concerns me. You may be big and strong, but you have to catch me first. You may live up to the name “the Destroyer”, but a phoenix cannot be destroyed. We are crash and die in flames only to be reborn. So you can try, but I will continue to come back, unless of course you dump me over the top at which point I am out, but until then, I am going to fight.”
::Amy delivers another quick and powerful kick to the bag.::
“Stefan Raab, you and I are fighters. You built a reputation as a hard hitting, catch as catch can fighter. I can imagine a match where the only rule is to throw your opponent over the top is right up your alley. Raab, you have built your reputation and I am looking forward to seeing how true it is. I am not talking about your status as the most hated man in the APW. No, I want to see how tough of a fighter you are. I may not be able to guarantee a victory at One Night In Hell, but I will be able to guarantee I can kick as hard as you can punch.”
“I hope that at least some see me as a dark horse to win this match, but I know I am not the only one viewed as such.”
::Amy delivers a series of rapid fire kicks to the punching bag. The bag sways from the impacts of her kicks. Amy spins around, hitting it with a fast reverse roundhouse kick::
“Mr. Dangerous, you may have no actual wrestling ability or talent or have any real business being inside a ring to begin with, but you could score an upset in this match. A battle royal, especially in one with weapons, you do not need ability, talent or skill. You just need to be lucky with a weapon swing or be at the right place at the right time and dump a few people over the top.”
::Despite her words, she doesn’t look entirely confident in a Mr. Dangerous victory.::
“I could happen. You never know. You cannot know unless you try.”
::She shrugs, then resumes kicking the bag. Her foot connects with a solid roundhouse kick high on the bag.::
“Terra Bryant, I would like to say that I think it is great that you are out. That takes courage and strength. However, I am really hoping you are not one of those types of people who makes something like that quite literally the only thing that defines them. That being said, I do wish you luck. I know you have not had an accomplished career, but this is, much like for myself, a fresh start.”
“And speaking of fresh starts for people, that would bring me to the only person in this match I do know, Kaylyn Evan James.”
::Amy smiles.::
“Kaylyn, I respect you for your ability and everything you have accomplished in your career. You are one of the toughest people I have ever wrestled. . You are one of the best. I beat you once, and only once. I have enough confidence in my ability to believe I can do it a second time. However, believing I can do something is no proof that I actually can. I would love to get back into the ring with you and I am defiantly looking forward to the chance to do so in Tokyo.”
::Amy looks at the punching bag she has been kicking for quite some time.::
“I cannot guarantee a victory. I already said I do not do that. I will only guarantee two things. The first thing is that I will go out to that ring and give everything I have to try and win. The second is that I will try to kick someone’s head off. Why?”
::With sudden speed, Amy nails the bag the reverse 540 kick she has dubbed the Fenghuang Kick. She manages to land on her feet, looking into the camera with a smile.::
“Because I am simply Amy Zing.”
::The scene fades to black.::
