Finally, no need to sugar it up, it is what it is, me versus Julius. For the Tap Out Title, what else is there? Oh, well, I can think of something or two too add to it.
We open the scene inside the Philly’s Gym, “The Soul of Philly” TJ’s gym. It is late in the afternoon as the October sun is setting, causing a glare through the windows at the top of the renovated warehouse. There we see TJ, dressed in jeans and a grey Sixers hoody, and Roger Gings, dressed in jeans and a plain black hoody, talking at the front desk.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ Alright so where you think is a better place to shoot?
Roger .“Raj”.Gings Your office probably, quiet, personal, the kind of setting you need to address Jules.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ You sure?
Roger .“Raj”.Gings Yea and after that what do you want to do?
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ Shit. Grab a bite to eat probably.
Roger .“Raj”.Gings Chickie’s?
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ Hell yea trying to catch the game tonight, got AJ Green tonite, and right now…
TJ pulls out his phone and opens up his fantasy football app
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ I’m down by three.
TJ’s phone begins to ring and he looks down at it, groaning.
Roger .“Raj”.Gings I swear to God, if that is Kelli, you better answer it.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ Why?
Roger .“Raj”.Gings Because she’s right behind you.
TJ turns around and sees his former love, Kelli Murray, standing there with a North Face fleece and jeans.
Kelli.Murray Hi TJ.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ Hi Kelli.
Kelli.Murray Can we talk?
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ Sure. Raj, I’ll get you when we’re done.
Roger .“Raj”.Gings Alright, I’ll be down here.
TJ leads Kelli to the door to the stairway.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ So, ah, what’s up?
Kelli.Murray Well, you haven’t called me since you found out I’m back.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ Yup.
Kelli.Murray Why?
TJ pushes the door to the stairway open and allows her to walk up the stairs.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ Because I really don’t want to.
Kelli.Murray What?
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ I haven’t found a want to call you since I saw you, hence, not calling you because I don’t really want to.
Kelli.Murray Can’t say I’m not hurt.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ Good.
They make their way to TJ’s office. He offers Kelli the chair across from his desk and he closes the blinds to the windows looking into the gym. He sits down behind his desk.
Kelli.Murray Is this about me leaving for Chicago?
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ No, this is about you not being open about it until I got sentenced. You knew for awhile, you knew you were trying to get it, why not just tell me?
Kelli.Murray I didn’t want to jinx it.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ BULLSHIT!
Kelli.Murray TJ, please let me explain.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ No, you don’t need to explain you told me why you did it. No phone calls after I got out, no phone calls whenever wrestling brought me to Chicago, no nothing. If you wanted to explain, you would have made me look for you.
Kelli.Murray You didn’t try.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ Are you kidding me? I didn’t try?! Please, explain to me how I am supposed to try when you go to Chicago to further your policing career, a big fucking city, and you left no information to anyone.
Kelli.Murray You could have asked my father.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ No, you’re father hated me, and he was happy that I was going to jail.
Kelli.Murray Look, I don’t want to talk about what happened anymore, I’ve lived with the guilt of what I did, and I came here to apologize.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ Ok.
Kelli.Murray I’m sorry.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ Fine, accepted.
He turns his back to her, stubborn is a perfect word for TJ not only when it comes to wrestling, but in life as he refuses to compassion as tears roll down Kelli’s cheeks.
Kelli.Murray TJ
He slowly turns around.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ What?
Kelli.Murray I’m sorry.
The sincerity behind this one hits TJ who breaks his stoic face and relaxes it a bit.
Kelli.Murray Really, I am, it’s the reason I took a detective job here rather than there where I was getting paid more.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ I get it. But I don’t think you understand. I went to jail, if it wasn’t for Ernie, I would have stayed there, and if it wasn’t for you, I probably wouldn’t have been there as long as I was.
Kelli.Murray You were there for eighteen months.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ EHH! Wrong number, try sixty months, five years, why? Because I couldn’t just go along with it day after day being fine with you leaving me the way you did. It’s not that you left, its how you left.
Kelli.Murray I know. I just thought if I didn’t tell you, you’d be even more angry.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ You were right, but I just thought that if you were trying to better your career, you’d tell me on a better day than the day I get sentenced to jail.
Kelli.Murray I’m sorry.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ I would be too.
Kelli.Murray Excuse me, you act all perfect. I remember you not telling me you got a tryout for ECW all those years ago.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ Oh, I waiting for you spin this. You want to try to make me look bad for taking a tryout in a promotion that took place five minutes from my apartment but you want to look good for taking a promotion in a city hours away? Great fucking logic Kelli.
Kelli.Murray No, I’m telling you that you’re a pot calling a kettle black.
TJ springs out of his seat and extends his hand.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ Hi Kettle, I’m Pot.
He sits down and throws his arms in the air.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ I’m not perfect, I never said I was. I have my flaws, but I do my damn best to make sure they don’t show. And if that isn’t enough for people, than fuck them.
Kelli.Murray TJ, that’s not what I meant.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ Then what did you mean? Because as far as I can tell, this entire thing is you trying to make me feel bad that you feel bad.
Kelli.Murray I wanted to see if there is something still there between us.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ There’s not. I don’t want there to be.
Kelli.Murray It’s because you’re wrestling, isn’t it?
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ Wow, you really have no common sense.
Kelli.Murray TJ, you’re entire life has been leading up to being a pro wrestler, and you got that, but you wanted more, you wanted to be a champion, well you got that but again you wanted more. You always want more; you never are satisfied with what you have. You’re stubborn like that
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ No, I’m not, because if you’re not looking to better yourself, you’re no doing it right.
Kelli.Murray Doing what right?
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ Whatever it is you’re bettering yourself at. I said, I know why you moved to Chicago and I understood it then and I still understand it.
Kelli.Murray You never got it TJ, and I doubt you ever will.
Kelli stands up and walks out of the office. TJ shakes his head.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ Thank god I went to jail.
TJ gets up and walks out of the office, down the stairs and back to the front desk. Raj is nowhere to be found. He turns to the girl behind the desk.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ Where’s Raj?
Girl.Behind.The.Desk He left about 10 minutes ago. Something about how you two were probably just having sex and he didn’t want to have to wait for you to clean up. Said he’d meet you at Chickie’s.
TJ chuckles to himself.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ I wish.
The scene fades as TJ heads out of the gym.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ Alright so where you think is a better place to shoot?

The scene fades as TJ heads out of the gym.
October 22th, 2012
We open the scene inside the main office of Philly’s Gym as we see TJ sitting behind his desk. He is wearing a white v-neck shirt from what we can see.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ You know I could sit here and talk about how me and Jules are different. I could talk about how I’m a blue collar man from America, from the birthplace of freedom, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and how Jules is a prim and proper man from England. I can talk about how I am ruthless, raw power where Jules is conniving, cerebral mat wrestling. I can talk about how I am loved and how he’s hated, but by now, it’s been said over and over and over. I know Julius will say how I’m rude, crude, and brutish, but that’s fine with me, because that’s who I am. I’m not perfect, I have flaws, and I try to hide them as best I can and sometimes they find ways out of hiding.
He takes a drink of water, clearing his throat.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ I’m stubborn as hell, right Raj?
Roger .“Raj”.Gings “as hell” is an understatement.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJExactly, I mean, it’s pretty obvious how stubborn I am in the ring, I wrestled with a broken ankle because I knew Julius couldn’t make me tap out, I wouldn’t allow it. Just two Asylums ago, I walked into a trap, I knew it was a trap, I didn’t need Admiral Ackbar to tell me that. So now you ask me why I did it and now I’ll tell you it was mind games, I mean, look at Julius, he thought he walked away the winner of that exchange, and to be fair, physically he did, but you don’t know what is going on in Julius head. You don’t, but I do because this isn’t the first time this has happened to me. My entire career, my entire life, people have tried to get me to quit what I love. Quit pee-wee football. Quit basketball. Quit wrestling. And every attempt has failed. Both men and women has tried, some even better in their attempts than Julius, and every time they have a moment where they realize that I don’t quit.
TJ leans into the camera.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJAnd for Jules it was having me in the Windsor Knot for a full minute and nothing. Nothing Jules has done has changed what I’m about. Julius has hit me with every he has in his arsenal. Cricket bats, cronies, lead pipes, ankle locks, Windsor Knots, everything he throws at me has hit me and done nothing. I’m living right here.
TJ points to the side of his head.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ I’ve got a nice one bedroom apartment in Julius’ head. There is nothing that I can’t take from Julius, I am something he has never faced. Not a man who is bigger, not a man who is stronger. No, I am a man who has more willpower than he. The willpower to stay who I am, what I’m about, against technical superior opponent.
He returns to sitting in his original position.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ Which is funny, to me, because between me and Julius, everything I’m about has changed him. We’ve seen sneak attack and trickery from Julius and from me we’ve seen, what, the norm? I mean, what about me has changed due to Julius? Nothing, but what has changed in Julius because of me? Everything. A well mannered, well tempered man has become uncouth and ill-tempered. A man normally confident and cunning is now desperate, because of what I have done to him. A man that defeated Anthony Bailey, the current APW World Heavyweight Champion, for the Tap Out Championship months ago. Defeated him with poise and focus nonetheless. Julius beat Anthony the same way he defeated Jason Kash. The last two World Champions bested by one man of discipline and manners. That same man has resorted to repeated attacks and ploys to keep him from getting his teeth kicked in by some schmuck from Philly.
He leans back on the chair, putting his feet on the table and he hands against the back of his head.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ You see, it all started in June when Julius had won that title. He made his way to Meltdown to flaunt his title by wrestling a bunch of guys he found outside the arena before Meltdown. He brought them into the arena to make fools of them so I gave him at true challenge and he bowed out. Then he wants to poke at the beast by trying to cost me my match, and failed. Then he hid behind lawyers until I got drafted to Asylum where he couldn’t hide behind lawyers anymore. And what happened when I got him in a match, I beat him, despite having my ankle severely sprained. And in a match where he could use whatever he wanted, a cricket bat, a tea pot, a double decker bus, it wouldn’t have mattered, there was no stopping me from beating him.
He stops leaning in the chair and stands up.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ As soon as he realized he couldn’t beat me in the ring, he took to attacking whenever he could, in the trainer’s room, in the ring after a match, hell, if he ever made the trip to Philly, I wouldn’t have put attacking me by him. He did everything he could to make sure that I wouldn’t make it to Shockwave, but I did and I forced him to tap out. Its there on the tape, the replays, everything, he tapped out in the Philly Cheeselock. But you see Jules is a conniving prick and he had a back-up plan in case what he feared most, that I wouldn’t tap out with a broken ankle, happened and that’s just what happened. He bought himself a referee who just so happen to ref our match. The ref was down just long enough to miss me making Julius tap out, but woke up very quickly to ring the bell despite my hand never tapping the mat, not only screwing me out of the title, but screwing the integrity of Reginald Schmidt.
He walks around his desk and sit on the edge.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ See, you should be thanking me Julius, the Schmidter wanted to strip you of the title for your little plan and give me what I rightfully have claim to. He wanted to right the wrong, and I told him no. I told him to keep the belt around your waist. Around your waist until One Night In Hell, where I would beat you, for the third time. That’s why you brutalized Mr. Dangerous knowing that to save him, I’d have to hit you, and while I so desired it, I knew that’s what you wanted, you wanted me to cost myself my title shot at you, because you know can’t beat me. You’re hoping I beat myself.
TJ leans into the camera again.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ I don’t beat myself. Greatness in its truest form doesn’t beat itself. Your nightmares in their physical forms don’t beat themselves. “THE SOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUULLLLLLLLLLL OF PHILLY” doesn’t beat its self. I have never and will never beat myself, but I have beaten you, I can beat you, and I will beat you Sunday. I will make you say I quit and I will be the Tap Out Champion.
The scene fades as TJ leans back and sips his water.
The.Soul.of.Philly TJ You know I could sit here and talk about how me and Jules are different.
