A rather casually dressed Donald Deruty pushes the door to his suit at the Harrisburg Hilton in Pennsylvania. Then ascending his way down the hallway and into the third floor elevator awaiting for his presence. Although a new superstar in the mega hit federation APW, Donald illuminates himself as a normal civilian in the streets of Harrisburg. Lifting his finger up to the ivory button that is labeled “L”. After pushing in the ivory button Donald leans back with his arms crossed in a rather arrogant fashion. In a fluid motion, the doors smoothly retract to their position within the elevator shaft welcoming Donald to the main lobby of the inn. The waxy silver tiling of the lobby invites any individual back from their nice cozy sweet. Sounds of squeaks come from the bottom of his his highly branded sneakers. Politely the doorman of the Hilton opens the exit door to the casually dressed individual.
As the news reel the disastrous effects of hurricane Sandy, the world around him does not meet the criteria of the environment that is surrounding. Even though the weather is rather moderate, the streets are bare with no one in sight of miles. Reaching within his pocket, he pulls out a pair of sun glasses before placing them on the roof of his nostril. The black frames and lens reflect the brightness of the sunlight that beams across his face.
Donald Deruty: Meltdown was such a great example of what happens when you don't work with the skills I have to offer. Zak Warner made that mistake and look at the result. He was the one that was looking up at the lights with his shoulders laying on the mat for the 1...2...3. One little mistake that he made was the downfall for the young fellow Action Packed Wrestling newcomer. That little un-orthodox tag caused us the win against the Sons of the South. One little move, one little tag became the reason of a loss that should have never been placed upon my new resume here in Action Packed Wrestling. That match left a foul taste in my mouth, yet it just intensifies the hunger within me to reach my first win here in Action Packed Wrestling.
That inflaming hunger in my gut, will do nothing but force myself to do even more than I believe will allow me to achieve my first win here in Action Packed Wrestling. Although my first win is the just the beginning of my legacy that I will leave here in the APW. The beginning of it all, all of the championships, all of the winnings, all of the accolades, and all of the cheering fans chanting my name at the top of their lungs. From ages of barely starting to walk, to ages of barely being able to walk, they will chant my name in every sold out arena that we will air in. Although some may think that tag teaming isn't within my expertise, and those individuals are correct, but I have had success when I am with a fellow superstar that strives for the success that I hunger for. I believe that I have found that partner within a man that has been apart of my history. A man that has been in that same place for all of the accolades and achievements that I have put forth in my four year length of a career. This individual has indeed had some achievements and accomplishments within his career as well, and that individual is “The Silver Lining”.
Walking here alone, is usually the trip that I take within a company, but it seems I have been put in the tag team division for a special reason that is unknown to myself. No matter, I will still do the same in the four sided circle with a man in my corner. Now to my understanding “The Silver Lining” and myself have been placed in a tag team tournament to find the next #1 Contenders for the Tag Team Championships. Along the way is several competitors that will be in the way of “The Silver Lining” and myself chance to both make names for ourselves here in a new company. Although first in our way is the likes of two individuals that are coming off of huge wins just weeks ago. Of course I speak of the new Xtreme Champion, Nick Watson, a man that has already gotten his foot within the door of his time here, almost seven months to be exact. As well as his partner, the former Playboy Cover Girl, the “Hong Kong Sensation”, Amy Zing. A woman with such potential, plus with the momentum of coming off a win from last weeks Meltdown. Unfortunately for the team of Nick Watson and Amy Zing, they have to face two opponents such as “The Silver Lining” and myself.
With such a chemistry that “The Silver Lining” and myself have, we most certainly going to be one of the toughest, if not the toughest tag team in the tournament. Who am I kidding? Of course we will be the toughest team within the confides of the tag team tournament. So how has the simple key ingredient called team work? Donald Deruty.
Deruty continues to ascend down the freshly paved concrete of the sidewalk. Looking up towards the billboards and ads that surround him on the bus seats and buildings. He then proceeds until he reaches a gold door that reads the sign of “Postcards”. He pushes the wooden door open and is found gazing into a room filled with several cards, envelopes, and stamps. They completely engulf the building as the clerk can barely be seen behind the collage of different holiday cards. After moments of taking a look around the store, he finally takes the first steps into the maze of holiday cards that sit perked up on their bottom corners.
Skimming through the cards, undecided, as his fingers move and feel every card for the very best in which he is searching for in his mind. His fingers pass through sections of Thanksgiving, Halloween, Christmas, New Years, and the celebratory section. After moments of testing all of the “Celebration” cards, Donald lifts up one card that seems to be speaking to him. Gold is the color of the card, written in black ink is the simple yet detailed word “Congratulations!”. Moments pass after looking through the card in and out, Deruty turns and makes his way towards the clerk hidden behind the stack of stamps.
Clerk: Hello sir, did you find everything okay this evening?
Donald Deruty: Indeed I did. The card will be all.
The clerk hits the keys of the register much like a rhythm of a catchy tune.
Clerk: That will be $4.50 sir.
Donald Deruty: Alright, sounds good. Just a moment.
Donald reaches into the breast pocket of his blazer and pulls out a wallet that contains his items of choice. He pulls out a five dollar bill and places it in the hand of the clerk.
Clerk: Alright sir, thank you for your business. Is there anything else I can do for you.
Donald Deruty: Not at all, thank you for the card.
Deruty gathers his items inside of the bag that the clerk provided him with. Pushing the door of the store he exits back into the deserted street. With a bag in hand, he continues to make his way in the direction of the Hilton. Entering the doors with the assistance of the bell boy, and once again using the third floor elevator towards his room.
Once again pulling open his wooden door and entering his suite. Throwing the card on the computer desk horizontal to the little twenty inch television he was provided with. Pulling out a nice ball point pin out of his blazer pocket and proceeds to toss that on the desk as well. Following is Donald removing his blazer from his back and placing it on the right of the two twin sized beds that lay before him. Pulling the computer chair out from under the desk, he places himself on the seat of the cushion and proceeds to reach for the pen. “Click” is the sound that the pen made when Donald unleashed the ball point out of the ink and onto an awaiting card. Deruty takes the card and opens it, reading the words that headline the card before proceeding to press the ball point pin to the card.

Dear Donald Deruty,
Congratulations Mr. Deruty. I felt obligated to send you this congratulatory letter after hearing of your new success in Action Packed Wrestling. After viewing your skills in the ring first hand, I would like to congratulate yourself upon winning the title of Tag Team #1 Contenders. Mr. Speede and yourself went through hell and back to be able to challenge the current and reining Tag Team Champions.
To earn that Tag Team Championship shot, you had to go through the likes of Nick Watson, Evan Envi, Johnny Knuckles and your debut opponents the Sons of the South. As you already know, there is no limit in which you can achieve here in the APW. Crawling yourself to the top of Overdrive and capturing the Undisputed Championship, or establishing yourself as a megastar in Asylum and capturing the World Heavyweight Championship. The options are endless. Continue within the tag team division, or move on to singles competition. No matter the choices you make, I know that it will be with the best interest of yourself and your career.
From Your #1 Fan,
Donald Deruty
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After signing the card, he places the ball point pin within inches of the card itself. Standing up from the computer chair and clutching the card in his hand. Moments pass as he reaches into his breast pocket within his blazer, and retracts a newly printed envelope from the clutches of his grip. He then places the card within the confines of the envelope. Donald then licks the back of the envelope, setting it closed from the environment around it.
Donald then continues to make his way back through the suite, but towards the elevator, and back into the lobby of the Hilton. Step after step passes as he makes his way towards the lobby desk after exiting the elevator doors onto the shimmering tile. Echoing of the sneakers can be heard as he reaches the woman behind the lobby desk. Donald places the envelope with the card within it on the desk. He then informs the woman in which where he would like to mail the letter of congratulations.
Donald Deruty: I would like you to mail this to this address please.
Mr. Deruty then places a small folded piece of paper on the wooden desk of the clerk.
Front Desk Clerk: Of course sir, I will send it in the mail first thing in the morning. Is there anything else I can do for you?
Donald Deruty: No mama, the stay has been quite enjoyable. No complains here.
The clerk then places the envelope behind the desk as Donald proceeds to make his way back up the elevator and into his hotel suite. Sliding his key card to unlock the door as he makes his way towards the mini refrigerator that sits within his room. Pulling the door handle towards him to unleash the cool air that suspends itself inside it. Looking in the small fridge he sees the very casual sign with small words reminding the customer anything missing will be charged to their bill. Ignoring the small remembering card Donald reaches in and clinches one of the sodas that sit on the top shelf. He opens the top of it and takes a swig before sitting it on the desk in front of him. Laying back onto the bed, with his feet swaying high in the air as he struggles to release the grasp his shoes have on his feet. His shoes hit the floor as he closes his eyes for a few moments before firing them back open like a bullet.
Donald Deruty: As I lay here in complete silence I cant help but to think about this week. The opportunity that I have been given to make a name for myself here in the APW. Contenders with names such as Johnny Knuckles and Nick Watson is just what I am looking for. Men that have the skill set to allow myself to have a challenge. As always I am looked at as the underdog of my matches and my entire career. Although some may thing it is negative, I look at the critics and reviews as nothing but momentum to prove them wrong. If an individual says I have no chance in hell, I make it my duty to prove them wrong. All of my career I have won matches on that same scenario, time after time, now it is time for me to prove people wrong in a different company.
In my past companies, I am no longer seen as the underdog. I am looked as the veteran that has finally proved himself to everyone. Unfortunately that is not the case here in the APW, consisting of the mediocre performance from my partner last week that gave me my first loss here in Action Packed Wrestling. I am not here to pussy foot around, I am not here to just get my feet wet here in the APW; I am here to swim within my soon to be success here in Action Packed Wrestling, and this week I will prove it by advancing into the second round of the Tag Team Tournament. Already “The Silver Lining” and myself are seen as the underdogs. We are both newcomers that have not yet been given a chance to prove our abilities and potential here in the APW. With the likes of Knuckles, and Watson we are clearly over looked, although that will turn foolish for our competitors.
Already we are faced with a road block here in the APW, and that road block's name is Nick Watson, the current Xtreme Champion. An individual that was more concerned on where his tissues were than his opponent last week. Unfortunately my opponent this week wasn't very well last week, I sympathize with him. Everyone has a hard week, and everyone gets sick, but unfortunately for yourself Nick. The flu has stuck at a very wrong time. Last week's sickness was nothing compared to what you will feel this week in the four sided circle. Your little sore throat, and inflated nose is a walk in the park to what pain you will have to endure this week.
The little gold belt that sits upon your shoulders doesn't threaten me one bit. You see Nick, no matter what accolades you accomplish. No matter who you have or claim you will defeat, has no effect upon myself. Nick I have defeated men that are of much higher stature than yourself. I have made a man, who went three complete years of continuous competition without being pinned or submitted, tap out to my own Justice Lock. So if you are looking to get a little momentum or psychological advantage over me then you are mistaken. Many different competitors have played that card upon myself, and they have all ended up the same way, with their shoulders on the mat for the three count, and unfortunately for yourself, you will not be any different.
Donald blinks before continuing on about his opponents during the first round of the tag team tournament.
Next we have the individual that will be in the same corner as “The Sensational One”, Ms. Amy Zing. A woman that is riding into this week off of a win last week at Meltdown. Although she will need much more than just momentum to end out on top of myself and “The Silver Lining”. Amy, are both newcomers here within Action Packed Wrestling. Although you ooze of beauty, it will not be a factor within this weeks match.
Of course you don't expect it to be a factor, but just simply your skills within the ring will not get the job done. You almost remind myself of another female competitor that I had a rivalry with earlier on in my career when I was nothing but a young man. Month after month, week after week, I was defeated by the likes of her, although I finally go the win when it counted. Unfortunately for yourself, it wont take me those many times to defeat yourself.
It is as simple as this Amy and Nick, “The Silver Lining” and myself has a chemistry that no other competitors in this tournament has. We have been the worst of rivals and we have been the best of allies, although this is the first time we have been put together as a tag team. With our history we know each others thoughts and moves inside and out, we will be on the same page. Instead of worrying about your opponents, you two need to be thinking about if you will be on the same page with each other. Using my match last week as an example, Zak decided to not follow my lead and cooperate with myself, and he paid dearly by earning us our first loss. Fortunately for myself, I will be on the other end of the spectrum this week. Good luck, you two will need it.
The eyes of Donald shut immediately after speaking his final words. Anticipating his first round match in the tag team tournament, he lays there imagining the exact ending to the first round match. The scene fades to complete and utter darkness, as silence hit like a brick wall.
