I went to a Balloon and Music Festival down in Mastic, Long Island, New York a couple of days ago. I got two free tickets in the mail so I took my girlfriend, Dev (once known to the APW Faithful as "The Hardcora Luchadora" Katrina "Arcadia" Olivetti) with me to check it out. Besides a cool car show and a really good Queen cover-band, the only real highlight of the day was a show done by a local Indy Wrestling Fed called Pro Wrestling Revolution (PWR).
I didn't even know that the show was gonna be a part of the festival due to them being rather low budget and the fact that they did absolutely zero advertisement but it was a lot of fun nonetheless.
There were three former WWE/WCW/ECW stars signing autographs and were charging $10 apiece but this month was kinda rough financially and we didn't even know this was going to be going on so we really only brought enough money with us to eat lunch. So I bypassed the autographs and just settle for shaking hands with Heidenreich (I think that's how you spell his name. He was the big guy in WWE who was doing a new version of the Legion of Doom with Animal not too long ago), Dawn Marie (that ditzy chick who was managing The Impact Players in the old ECW and got married to Torrie Wilson's Dad in WWE), and Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake (a legend by WWE's standards).
Heidenreich and Dawn Marie were really cool and had 15 minute conversations with me despite the fact that I was broke. Beefcake immediately became cold to me and put on an arrogant "Why are you talking to me?" kinda vibe the moment he found out I wasn't paying him $10.
Now, I admit "The Barber" is a legend. I remember being eight years old and watching him defend the WWF Tag Team Championships alongside Greg "The Hammer" Valentine in The Dream Team... that was 1988... I remember when Shawn Michaels superkicked Marty Jannetty through the window of The Barber Shop (a cheesy interview segment Brutus hosted in the WWE during the early 90's) when The Rockers broke up... I remember when he Tag Teamed with Hulk Hogan against "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase and Irwin R. Schyster in a losing bid for the tag titles at Wrestlemania IX...
But the man hasn't done anything relevant in at least 14 years!!!
Why did he have such a huge ego?
Maybe he was bitter that he's gone from WWF and WCW to a Balloon and Music Festival...
Dawn Marie was fucking smoky and totally flirted with my girlfriend more then she did with me...
That was really hot...
