I awoke from a nap on Wednesday afternoon very confused and disoriented. I was under the impression that my life wasn’t actually a nightmare. Unfortunately, after checking APW.com and viewing the upcoming card, I guess I was mistaken. I have to wrestle in a match with three people that I could care less about. First of all I need to go against Shadow? Why? What on earth has he done? Wait, isn’t he on Meltdown still? Then I’m facing Azrael Goeren…again? I mean, talk about not even giving us time to digest the first match. I beat him one on one because he couldn’t control his own damn emotions. Finally, to top it all off, in my corner with me, on my team is, Delikado. Are you kidding me? The man that a mere month ago I put in an animal trap and left for dead? I’m going to rely on him to have my back in this match? Not a chance in hell. I must be living in some sort of nightmare.
“Get up you idiot.” Rosa yells from the other room. Idiot was becoming a favorite word of hers.
“Oh what for? I stayed out drinking last night.” I respond back, thinking that drinking too much is a good enough excuse.
“That’s no excuse!” Is she reading my mind? “You need to address this match tomorrow.”
“There will be no match tomorrow.”
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“You heard me. No match tomorrow.”
Rosa throws a notepad across the room at me and hits off my head.
“Get your ass up!”
Deciding not to mess with an angry Latina, I get myself up and into the shower.
“Alright, so here’s the deal, I have no interest in wrestling in this match tomorrow. I’m not going to partner up with Delikado for anything and I’ve already proven I can beat Azrael Goeren. Shadow is a non-factor in this. I don’t care a damn what he does. I know this may not be a popular decision, but I’ve been in this business a long, long time and I’ve never turned down a match, but this time, this time it’s just too much.”
“I’m not going to waste my talents helping out Delikado and whatever little insane plot might be going on in his head. I don’t care if him and Shadow have some sort of problem they need to work out. I’m not going to be a part of it and I’m not going to wrestle alongside him. Easy as that… not happening.”
“Now, for Azrael, he knows what I’m capable of, he knows that I can control myself better than he can and that I’m the Overdrive champion for a reason. I’m not ready to answer his challenge just yet because he hasn’t really proved himself capable of being the Overdrive Champion so I don’t know if I should even dignify him with a chance. So I have no problem not wrestling against him. I just faced him last week, I don’t need to get in the ring with him again.”
“And Shadow? Well, who gives a damn about Shadow? I remember a time when he went from Xtreme Champion securing himself a spot on Overdrive, to, uh, I don’t know? Losing everything and being demoted back to Meltdown? He’s a nobody and I couldn’t be less worried. He never made any waves on Meltdown and he isn’t going to make any waves up here on Overdrive. You can see what shit luck he has being teamed with Azrael in the first place. But who knows, maybe he’ll pick up a win here when I don’t show up to the ring.”
“So, Johnny Rebel, this has nothing to do with you, I think you’re doing a damn fine job. But I’m not wrestling aside Delikado and I’m not doing a repeat match against Azrael Goeren. So I’ll see all of you fans tomorrow, I apologize you won’t see much wrestling out of me.”
“You’re an asshole.” Rosa says.
“If the shoe fits.”
