ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — APW megastar Anthony Bailey’s newly released book entitled “Word of Promise: My Avenue to Prosperity” has been receiving rave reviews throughout the literary world. The autobiography chronicling his first year of professional success as a member of the Action Packed Wrestling roster has translated to success outside of the ring as well.
“Your hope for any project that you put your heart and soul into is for it to perform well. So my hope all along was for it to be rewarding as possible, but I had no idea that it would do this well,” said Bailey from the porch of his St. Augustine townhouse.
The two hundred and eight page book sheds light on the young man that took the wrestling world by storm in 2012. Only one year removed from receiving his degree from Flagler College in Marketing, the then unknown megastar shot to the top of ranks on Asylum, APW’s bi-weekly show that broadcasts on The Food Network, seemingly overnight.
“I wouldn’t have wanted this year to turn out any other way, but honestly, I’m still so new to this whole thing that I am still in the process of developing my own niche. A doctor or lawyer could have performed well academically, but when they get out into the real world and begin to practice medicine or law, it’s an entirely different ball game. I feel that I am just now beginning to practice my profession,” Bailey said.
The charismatic young man is often tight lipped about his personal life, but a few pages in the book reveal that the man who is loved by many dealt with serious things on his avenue to prosperity, such as almost breaking up with his girlfriend of a few years, Tasha, and wanting to physically harm rival Jason Kash outside of the squared circle. An insightful passage of the book says:
“This past summer was hell on earth for me. Not only had I unexpectantly lost the Tap Out Title, but when Jason Kash took it upon himself to invade my privacy during that weekend in June and break into my home, I literally wanted to kill him. Never had I felt so disrespected in my entire life by anybody. I had to be talked out of doing something crazy to him by my mentor Frank. Thank God for him not allowing me to throw away my entire life and my career.”
With the book surpassing his expectations, does a future as an author await The Promise after he decides to hang up his boots?
“That’s still to be decided,” Bailey laughed. “Writing is a passion of mine but wrestling is my first love. I don’t even want to think about a career after wrestling. I want to do this until I’m an old man.”
The book “Word of Promise: My Avenue to Prosperity,” published by Legacy Book Publishing, is now available at bookstores everywhere and is set to appear on the New York Times Bestseller List at the beginning of next week.
