We open up with a recap of what happened at Christmas Chaos. That video fades out to the Overdrive intro video
The video ends and pyro shoots from the stage as the APW Faithful from PEI Canada jump to their feet, waving their signs as the camera pans though the audience as the camera stops on our commentators, Darren Harvey and Johnny Chase
Chase: Welcome everyone to the first Overdrive of 2009!
Harvey: Happy New Years everyone. And we are glad to be back. A big night we have tonight. We have a huge six person tag match for our main event tonight.
Chase: And the big thing everyone is talking about is, Who is the New General Manager going to be.
Harvey: President Jeff was found unconscious at Christmas Chaos, and is forced to not attend any events for the next little while. So a General Manager was assigned to Overdrive and we find out tonight just who it is.
Chase: I have no idea who it could be or if this person is even here yet.
Harvey: We will fight out tonight. Lets get right to the action. Kicking off 2009 is a huge match, a Submission Steel Cage match between Trevor Blackwell and Link.
Chase: These two been having problems with one another last month and it no secret that they hate each other.
An ominous Steel Cage looms over the ring as Nicky Paige, Overdrive's newest Ring Announcer helps us ring in the new year.
Nicky Paige: Ladies And Gentlemen... Welcome to the first Monday Night Overdrive of the New Year... This match is scheduled to be Submission Only and is a Cage Match with No Time Limit...
The sound of a woman’s scream is heard followed by the chorus of "Elite". Link comes out from the back standing at the top of the ramp. He looks around briefly before stretching his arms out to his side with his hands in a fist. This pose is what he has always called the sign of the Elite.
Nicky Paige: On his way to the ring first... weighing in at 220 lbs... from San Jose, California... He is Link!!!
He walks down the ramp and into the ring going to the front right turnbuckle (camera view) and again posing the sign of Elite. He goes to the opposite turnbuckle and just stands on the 2nd rope staring out into the crowd not giving any signs of Elite or any facial expression. He steps down but stays next to the turnbuckle to wait for his opponent, unable to help himself from glancing up at the Steel Cage in anticipation.
Harvey: What a way to kick off the new year... This may be the grudge match of all grudge matches... a possible early Match of The Year candidate as Link faces the dangerous Career Killer in a Steel Cage...
Chase: Link's hoping to start the new year with a victory I'm sure... but has his mouth gotten him in over his head this time? Link isn't exactly known as the World's Greatest Submission Wrestler or anything...
Just then, "Revolution Is My Name" by Pantera assaults the loudspeakers as the lights go down and blue and white strobe lights illuminate the stage. Everybody's Hero, The King of Hardcore, "The Career Killer" Trevor Blackwell appears, his Singapore Cane clutched in his hand, his arms outstretched in the Trademark Blackwell Crucifix Pose as gouts of blue ghost flame erupt from the stage on either side of him, the crowd exploding to a deafening roar and the red and blue strobes spread out across the arena. A slender, yet toned arm slips over his shoulder, sharp nails digging into his neck for a moment before Tabitha Crowley slinks around him. She lifts a knee to his chest and leans in close with a sly smile. One of Trevor's arms raises his Singapore Cane above his head as the other wraps around Tabitha's back, leaning her back and kissing her deeply before letting her up as the two look out over the APW Faithful, another gout of ghost flames erupting on either side of the couple.
Nicky Paige: And his opponent... accompanied to the ring by Tabitha Crowley... he hails from Long Island, New York... and weighs in at 293 lbs... he is The King of Hardcore... The Excellence of Extreme... "The Career Killer" Trevor Blackwell!!!
The Hardcore Icon struts down the aisle, going back and forth from one side of the runway to the other, slapping hands and pounding fists with his rabidly loyal fans, Tabitha on his arm with her eyes focused on the squared circle He reaches the ring and stops as Ms. Crowley takes his leather jacket from his shoulders before he slides under the bottom rope to scale each turnbuckle respectively, striking his Crucifix pose for every facet of the crowd before stepping into the middle of the ring and raising his Singapore Cane over his head, one more gout of ghost flame erupting from each of the four posts. Tabitha smiles up at him, a fellow predator as he hands her his Singapore Cane. The cage slowly starts to lower around the two gladiators, cutting Trevor off from Tabitha for the duration.
Harvey: For all of his Hardcoreness, Trevor Blackwell hasn't had the greatest success rate in the past with Steel Cage matches and he also isn't really known for his technical acumen... though he's surprised us in the past. I think his anger and hatred for Link might make all the difference tonight.
Chase: And for the first time in months, having Tabitha Crowley at ringside won't give him an advantage. She won't be able to help him with that 20 ft Steel Cage in the way. This one comes down to one on one. Skill will be the only deciding factor here tonight.
The fans shower Link with boos as he high tails it from the ring. He gives Tabitha the finger as he entrance music plays. The camera fading to commercial on Tabitha Crowley helping her man to his feet.

SUBMISSION STEEL CAGE MATCH
Link Vs Trevor Blackwell
The bell rings as the Steel Cage locks securely in place around the ring apron. An official eyes Tabitha Crowley warily as he chains and locks the door closed. She paces back and forth at ringside with her man's Singapore Cane in hand like the predator that she is, maybe looking for an opening to make her mark. The APW Faithful break into their usual unnerving chant of, "TREVOR'S GONNA KILL YOU!!! TREVOR'S GONNA KILL YOU!!!" Inside the ring, Trevor Blackwell and Link are circling each other, both looking for the ring opportunity, being cautious despite how badly they just want to rip into each other. Trevor reaches out for the usual Collar and Elbow Tie up but Link decides to go low with a Freestyle Wrestling Double Leg Takedown. Blackwell lands flat on his back and Link floats over into a Side Headlock, raining down repeated rights on The Career Killer's face. Link runs the ropes but Trevor spins onto his hands and knees. When Link returns, Blackwell bursts out of his position like a missile, colliding head first with Link's testicles. Stopped dead in his tracks, Link doubles over, holding his crotch in obvious pain as Trevor Blackwell shows off uncharacteristic agility and spins around to drop to the mat and catch Links legs, bringing him face first into the unforgiving Steel Cage with a Drop Toehold. Link falls back, holding his face in pain as he rolls around on the mat. Using this opportunity, Trevor hops up to sit on a top turnbuckle and leaps off with a Flying Knee drop that finds its mark across the bridge of Link's nose. Like a shark smelling blood on the water, Blackwell hops up to his feet and brings his steel toed boot down on Link's face with repeated stomps. The King of Hardcore can't help but turn his back on Link and strike a Crucifix Pose for the crowd as they shower him with love. Link, however, doesn't echo the Faithful's sentiments as he hops to his feet, blood running down his face from Trevor's repeated stomps and launches into a beautifully executed Dropkick that nails the posing Blackwell in the back and sends him into the cage.
Harvey: Trevor Blackwell's love for the fans may have just cost him his momentum here tonight.
Chase: Never let it be said that Link isn't an opportunist.
The fans' cheers turn to boos as Link drops down and grabs the stunned Hardcore Icon, rolling him up in a School Boy. But instead of going for the pin (which would be useless in this match), he wraps up Trevor's legs in a Figure Four Leg lock, possibly trying to weaken him for the Chained Link. Blackwell slams the mat with both arms in pain as Link cranks back on the hold. The referee drops down into position to see if Trevor Blackwell wants to submit but The King of Hardcore defiantly growls back a negative. Instead, he goes for the oldest reversal in the book. Trevor shifts his weight and flips both he and Link onto their stomachs, reversing the pressure so that Link screams in pain now.
Harvey: That's nothing new. Sting used to do that reversal to Ric Flair all the time back in he old days.
Chase: Maybe Link didn't expect Trevor Blackwell to have such a knowledge of technical wrestling... apparently his training with Tabitha Crowley has paid off...
Link is forced to release the hold and that's exactly what Blackwell was waiting for. Again, showing surprising speed, The Hardcore Icon spins around and grabs up both of Link's legs while he's still on his stomach. Trevor wraps both legs painfully around his arms as he gets back to a vertical base, elevating the lower half of Link's body and locking in an agonizing Gorilla Hold. Link flails and screams in pain, giving Blackwell and the APW Faithful exactly what they want to hear. He reaches desperately for the ropes but The Excellence of Extreme stays firmly planted where he is. Link looks as if he's going to tap but finally launches into a forward roll, tossing Trevor halfway across the ring. Link hops to his feet and looks as if he's going to take off but his left ankle gives out. He drops down to one knee and gets back to his feet just in time for Blackwell to try to take his head off with a vicious Running Clothesline that nearly folds Link in half as he hits the mat. Riding on adrenaline, Link shakes off his possible concussion and jumps back to his feet but The Career Killer is back on him like a wet t-shirt. He wraps an arm around Link's head in a front Headlock (DDT style) and hops up, wrapping his legs around Links, waist and dropping onto his back with a King Crab Hold. The APW Faithful are nearly silent throughout all this, watching Trevor and Link put on a wrestling clinic here tonight.
Harvey: Wow... Trevor Blackwell's training with Tabitha is turning out to be a real difference maker in this match. He sure learned a lot.
Chase: That's a King Crab Hold! Tabitha learned that hold from Jun Akiyama! These are all Japanese Submission Holds that Trevor Blackwell is using. Many of these have never been seen in America before...
Tabitha Crowley cheers her man on from ringside as Link panics at first, flailing wildly and screaming in shock and pain and frustration. But he finally gets his bearings, focusing on an escape as his neck is wrenched horribly and Blackwell's powerful legs squeeze the oxygen from him. Summoning all of the strength that he can, Link plants his feet and staggers to an upright position, holding Trevor Blackwell up before charging straight into the Steel Cage! He knocks the wind out of The King of Hardcore as Trevor's body is crushed against the unforgiving steel and the back of his head bounces painfully off the cage. In the process Link, smashes the top of his own head against the steel, nearly knocking himself out as they both crumble to the mat, Link's bleeding face now gushing into a Crimson Mask. The APW Faithful break their silence and launch into the first, "HOLY SHIT!" chant of 2009.
Harvey: What a desperation move by Link! This looks like a train wreck!
Chase: Who wins if neither man gets up?
But Link is the first to stagger to his feet, shaking off the cobwebs, his vision doubling. Trevor Blackwell is still laying face down, holding the back of his head. Link sees a chance to end this and seizes his opening. He runs up on Trevor while he's laying there and locks both of the man's arms behind his back in a painful Butterfly Lock. Then Link suddenly flips over him, planting his feet and arching his back in an excruciating move that ROH's Bryan Danielson calls the Cattle Mutilation. Blackwell kicks his feet and lets out his own cries of pain. The referee is low down to the mat, looking for The Hardcore Icon's submission but Trevor grits his teeth and fights the pain, admittedly having nowhere to go though. Just then, Tabitha Crowley snakes one of her small arms through one of the large steel squares of the cage, Singapore Cane in hand! She raises her arm up to the unanimous approval of the crowd and brings the weapon down hard across Link's abs. A vocal expulsion of air is heard as Link collapses onto his back, releasing Blackwel from the hold. Miss Crowley innocently goes back to what she was doing before the referee can notice her.
Harvey: Even a Steel Cage can't stop Tabitha Crowley from helping her man out! This is fucking ridiculous! And the fans love her for it!
Chase: I think Tabitha Crowley may have just saved Trevor's ass here! Lets see what he can do with it.
Finding him flat on his back, Trevor Blackwell appears at Link's feet, the fans chanting, "MAKE HIM TAP!!! MAKE HIM TAP!!!" as he wraps his opponents leg like he was setting up for a Figure Four but Trevor drops down to his knees as Link rears up in pain. He wraps both legs tightly and flips Link over onto his stomach, twisting around and grabbing him by the jaw, Camel Clutch-style, locking in a vicious Grapevine STF. Link howls and tries to push up on his arms but The Excellence of Extreme's weight is just too much for Link's exhausted body. He finally breaks the hold after what seems like an eternity by bringing his head sharply back into Trevor's face, shattering his nose in an explosion of blood and bone. Blackwell falls back on his ass, holding his bleeding sniffer but Link is back to his feet, he hops up on his weakened ankles and brings a knee into the side of Trevor Blackwell's face, sending him to his back with a Crimson Mask that now matches his own.
Harvey: What a brutal match! Neither man wants to give the other any bragging rights!
Chase: What a way to start off 2009!
With The Career Killer on his back now, Link grabs both of his legs. He spins him onto his stomach in an elevated crab position but drops a knee into Trevor's spine, twisting violently in the other direction with the hold that WWE is afraid to let Chris Jericho use, The Lion Tamer! The APW Faithful are in an uproar as Blackwell struggles for the ropes, not able to make it and almost tapping out. Fearing that this won't work, Link ups the ante a notch, he twists both legs into a Sharpshooter that he calls the Chained Link. Trevor still refuses to tap, his strains making the blood flow freely. The fans chant for him but to no avail as Trevor Blackwell officially loses consciousness and passes out in the hold. The referee lifts his arm three times as it falls to the mat and he calls for the bell.
Winner: Link
