The scene opens in the back stage area, with Vin being checked out by the APW physician. A look of anguish is sprawled across the face of the young wrestler. The anguish however does not come from the many bumps, bruises, lacerations, contusions, and other such injuries. This anguish is of a different nature. The tumultuous maelstrom of emotions brought about by the internal quest for an answer to a question that does not necessarily have one. Vin had lost his first match, and was not handling it well. Vin had always lived with the understanding that if someone tried something and failed that they were somehow at fault. That belief was held for so long, it became furniture in the back of his psyche. The core root of this belief was that they must have lacked one of three things, they did not prepare enough, they lacked foresight, or they just plain old did not have enough heart. This belief structure was currently crumbling under its own weight. No longer could this set of truisms hold up to the truth that he did everything that he knew how to do, in order to win that match. He however did not win that match; this tore at his brain and wrought strife through his emotions. Unbeknownst to Vin the time was at hand for an epiphany, it would just take one final realization to bring about this new reality that would quite possibly tare his fragile mental state asunder.
The medical trainer gave him a clean bill of health and sent him on his way. He walked down the hall to the vending machine to get a cold drink. He reached into his wallet to pull the monster card, just then he heard the familiar sound of The Jesus of COK, Michael Lively in the middle of one of his, soon to be, if not already famous prayers of the Kaotic.
Lively: “For Kaos is my Shepard, I shall not worry. He maketh me trample the pastures of order. He leadeth me beside raging rivers. He releseth my soul: he pushes me down the path of conquest for his names sake. Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I shall fear no peace, for Kaos is the badest mother fucker in the valley.”
He looked toward the direction his voice was resonating from and swiped his card. Nothing happened! No monster fell. He glanced quick to the card in his hand. It was not his monster card. Instead his hand held his mothers prayer card, from her wake. It read,
"The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.”
A chill ran throughout Vin’s body, raising the hair on the back of his neck, and calling forth goose bumps from his skin like blisters from a great burn. The words of Lively’s prayer and the words from the card did not jive well with each other in his heart. He knew that something was wrong. He always understood that the handling of problems should always rest on the shoulders of that individual, except in matters of God! Those cases should always be counseled with the clergy.

Vin decided to get dressed and hop a gray hound back home. Not to his house though, his first real home! Saint John’s Home for boys, in between Albany and Troy avenues in Brooklyn, this is where his first memories of caring and love came from.
05-20-2008 9:47pm
As Vin walks up to the front door of the orphanage, his mind is overwhelmed with the sights, sounds, smells and memories of his days in the home. Emotion provoking images rush through his cerebral cortex, so vivid, the lines between past and present are blurred slightly. He approaches the gigantic mahogany door with gold inlay. A rope dangles in front of the breezeway. A quick tug on the rope and the bells spring into life alerting the residents of his arrival. An elderly woman in a nun’s habit opens the door.
Vin: “Hello sister.”
Nun: “Hello my child, how may I be of service to you today?”
Vin: “Sister Mary Clarence, its me Vin E Lambardo, don’t you remember me?”
Mary Clarence: “OH, Vinny come in come in. Its so good to see you.”
The old nun escorts Vin inside. She brings him into the visiting center where prospective parents can meet the children. She offers him a seat and he accepts. He spends the next thirty or so minutes recapping everything that has gone on in his life for the last two years since he had run away from the orphanage. At the end of their catching up session the old nun turns to him and says:
Mary Clarence: “My child you must seek the help of our Lord to open your mind and heart, so that you may receive the guidance you seek. Come, let us go and seek out Father Vitorio. I will phone ahead so he knows we are coming.”
They walk several blocks to the church down the street. Father Vitorio was waiting for them at the front of the church.
Father Vitorio: “Welcome my son. The sister here has told me of your plight. Please come in and we shall discuss it in my anti chamber.”
They walk into the church. Beautiful stained glass windows adorn all the walls. The sunlight passing through them, creating a divine aura in the air. Rows and rows of pews atop red carpet fill the floor. In the distance a large marble altar draped with linen. Behind it a life size statue of the crucified Christ. They proceed down the landing to the alter. After a quick genuflect they walk behind the alter to a small door hidden from view by a statue of the virgin Mary. They small anti chamber has but one chair and a cot. They take their respective seats and they begin.
Father Vitorio: “My son it seems to me like you are having trouble discerning what in your life is truth and what is deception. You need to open your mind and your heart to the will of God. Let his love guide you and keep you safe. He will show you the way if you look for it.”
Vin: “But father how will I know when he is showing it to me if I cant tell what is truth and what is not?”
Father: “You must go to your bible, seek out the answers there. The bible is the living word of God. When you go to your bible pray first for direction. Pray for knowledge, then open your book, the answers will be there. God will leave signs for you; all you have to do is read them.
Vin: “How do I pray for knowledge father?”
Father: “I will teach you the prayer for knowledge.
Absolute and all knowing God,
Nothing is hidden from Your sight.
In the prescience since the beginning,
All knowledge existed within You.
Kindly share Your knowledge with me,
Making me aware of what is meant to be,
Permitting my soul to understand it,
And wisdom to agree with its outcome.
Provide me with the gift of discretion,
To prudently apply received knowledge,
To ensure the fulfillment of Your Will.
Your knowledge shines forth forever!
Now go my son and ask God for his divine assistance.
Vin leaves the church not feeling a whole lot better about his current predicament then he had two hours ago. However he did seem to have a slightly different perception of the problem. He makes his way back to his brownstone.
05-20-2008 11:00pm
Vin climbs the stairs to his room feeling completely drained. His mind, body, and soul ache like the hands of a ninety year old former iron worker with arthritis. He flips his TV on to a random channel and falls onto his bed. He was asleep before his head hit the pillow.
05-21-2008 3:00am
Vin is awoken by the sound of his TV. The 700 club is on an Billy Graham is in the middle of pontificating.
Vin: “What the…what is on my TV?”
Billy: “…so you must go to the word and seek knowledge…you must open your bible and seek the answers to your woes.”
Vin: “Ok this is fucking creepy.”
Vin goes over to his bible and closes his eyes. He recites the prayer that the father had taught him a day earlier. With eyes still shut he opens the book. It opens to Proverbs chapter six verse two: Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth… Vin reads on to chapter twelve verse thirteen and it says: The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.
Vin: “Oh shit, I get it now. I did this I called the kaos into existence, and the loss was just kaos doing what it does best, fucking with shit.”
Que the epiphany.
Vin: “I can’t believe that I did not see this earlier. It’s all the kaos. I must right this wrong. I was the one who sought out my brother, I was the one who invoked Kaos with that prayer. I made Kenny fall to the kaotic, and that’s why he fell from the fans. I must bring him back. Ok go so we can have what we speak right well here goes”
Vin lights a candle and turns out all the lights and draws the shades. Vin sinks into deep prayer. Several hours of prayer and meditation later and he closes with…
Vin: “The room is in near darkness now, lit only by a faint firelight. The flames are dying – no! I will not use that word! – yet you remain pale and unmoving, your only colour a faint flush of fever.
It seems I have been at your side for an eternity, holding you, calling you. I talk incessantly, until I weary of my own voice, offering you an anchor, something to cling to when you finally cease your desperate wanderings in nightmare. I try to follow you, to show you the path of return, but you are lost to me, lost in darkness. I cannot find you.
Please, my brother, hear my voice. Come back to me, to all of us, wake from your dreams of darkness and return to the light. Where are you? What evil thoughts haunt your dreams? Why do you not wake?
My fear grows that you are lost to us, and I fear for the future. I do not think I could continue alone, without you at my side, for we might not have been together all our lives – yet I know
I love you, Please do not leave me.”
The candle burns out and vin collapses to the floor from exhaustion.
05-22-2008 10:30am
Vin awakes to the sound of his cell phone ringing. He answers it with a groggy tone.
Vin: “Hello”
Koon: “Hey Vin its Sergeant Stacey Koon how the hell are ya?”
Vin: “Not bad but what are you doing calling me didn’t you get the money?”
Koon: “Yes we did but I have some great news for you. I just got off the phone with governor Shwartzeneger and he told me to give you a call. You see I kinda submitted your name to his office for sponsorship. The city has recently decided that it is going to sponsor individual athletes in the sports other than the major five. The city wants to diversify its image, so I put your name in and they chose you. It means that you get to be sponsored by the LAPD, you get to use our training facilities, and we can even train you in our judo and aikido. The only catch is once a month you have to do some form of charity work, but it pays good.”
Vin: “How good?”
Koon: “fifty K a month and it is a month to month renewable contract. So you in?”
Vin: “Fuck yeah”
Koon: “Cool so hop on the next flight out here and we will get the contracts signed.”
Vin: “Ok but I have to make a quick stop and talk to some one first, then I will shoot out there and take care of this, oh and by the way when can I start with the training?”
Koon: “As soon as the contract is signed you have full access to all of our facilities.”
Vin: “Ok I will call you when I get out there.”
Koon: “ok man later.”
Vin jumps up in joyful exuberance. He runs into the shower and out the door as quickly as his mortal feet will take him. He gets on his cell phone and calls Tony Blackwell. Tony is not thrilled to hear from him, as was expected, however he does take the time to listen to Vin.
Vin: “Ok Tony just hear me out, I am sorry for all the bullshit surrounding our match last week. I just wanted to say that the hate that filled me about what you did when you booted me in the head would never have been there if it were not for Kenny. He never told me that that was just a part of the show. As a matter of a fact he encouraged the hatred off camera. I realize now that it was all the manipulation of the kaotic. You have to know that he viewed you and your brother as a threat, and you were right about how Kenny handles people he is afraid of, he either sends his people out to end their careers or he makes them his friend. So I want to actually warn you for a second, he sent me to end your career and now that that did not work he will probably try to recruit you into the Church of Kaos. Be wary Tony, I know that I am in for it as a result of my failure, just don’t you get sucked into his manipulation as well. I am truly sorry how personal this got, and I wanted to wish you the best of luck in our match this week. I am training my ass off for it so don’t take me lightly, and I won’t be taking you so lightly this week either.”
Tony: “Listen man no problem this kinda shit happens in this business. I appreciate the heads up though.”
Vin: “And uh say hi to your brother for me, wish him my best.”
Tony: “Will do, and Vin, you had better train your ass off this week cause I’m not going to take it easy on you just cause you apologized.”
Vin: “I wouldn’t have it any other way, but listen let me go I have to fly out to California to sign a contract with the LAPD. They are going to be sponsoring me. And I get to be trained by the people who train the cops, so you better hit the gym yourself.”
They share a chuckle.
Vin: “Be good man.”
Tony: “You too.”
Vin hangs the phone up and books to the airport.
