The following Roleplay takes place in a APW house show in Atlanta.
Foreword
What’s the difference between an ‘icon’ and a ‘legend’? An icon can be defined as someone at the pinnacle of their chosen profession, unmatched in popularity and an instantly recognizable face. Icons exist in all walks of life; in sport you have Tiger Woods; in music you have U2; in cinema you have Tom Hanks or Brad Pitt; and in wrestling - John Green. A man who is the epitome of the word and who on the 9th June 2008, is going to define clearly the difference between an icon and a legend. You see in John's mind, a legend is a thing of the past, a figure of yesteryear and what used to be. In John's mind - Kaos is a thing of the past. In John's mind - Kaos should be dead. Kaos is without doubt a legend, but even legends have a place, and that place is nowhere else but on the tattered pages of the history books.
Legends are not timeless figures who can re-appear when they so desire, but a hindrance to the stars of today, a parasite clinging to the coat-tails of an ever evolving industry. Despite both leaving a legacy on the wrestling industry, despite both having left a mark on the past, there is still a clear difference between John Green and Kenny Lambardo; a difference that John Green fully intends to make clear - the Retribution Killer still has something to offer to the modern era, still capable of revolutionizing wrestling. On the other hand, Kaos is outdated. The Kenny of today is merely a poorly recycled version of the Kenny of the past. And even in his prime, Lambardo was never greater than John Green
Never.
Now Green must fight through countless superstars to get back what's his.
(In white arial letters over a black screen is shown the "Parental Advisory" as 'The Following Content contains Scenes of Sexuality and Violence, Parental Discretion is advised' is played as a monotone voice reads out the letters. After a short pause, the screen switches to the sound of "Between Angels and Insects" by Papa Roach which fills the speakers while a video package the Retribution Killer is shown. The video ends with the face of John Green which switches to the "APW " logo. once the video comes to an end, and the APW logo flashes quickly in and out of the camera shot, the fans in the arena witness a stunning display of pyrotechnics that rise up from the stage and shoot down from the tron, nearly lighting up the entire arena with its bright effects. The pyrotechnics display finishes off with a few cool blue illuminations shooting up into the air, followed by one final explosion of silver pyro, capping off the pyro display! The fans here in the arena are electric as they chant the initials of Action Packed Wrestling repeatedly, as well as scream out loud for their favourite Overdrive Superstars and Ladies. Some amazing shots of overhead views of the fans continue to take up television sets, making fans watching at home wish they were at the arena this evening. Some may have to travel far, because as seen by the small graphic, the show is coming to us Live from Atlanta, Georgia! As we view many home-made signs being raised up into the air by the fans, we hear the familiar voices of APW's well-know commentators, Darren Harvey and Johnny Chase.)
Chase: Welcome ladies and Gentlemen to this APW house show!
Harvey: And tonight it is said that we could be hearing from the newly returning, JOHN GREEN her tonight.
(Without ant more time for the announcers to speak "Between Angels and Insect's hit the P.A system and the crowd gets on their feet as John Green steps from behind the curtain wearing a black suit and holding a mic in his hand. John walks down the entrance way and slaps a couple hands of the fans on his way to the ring. Green runs and slides into the ring and hops onto a turnbuckle and does his trademark "Retribution" taunt. He hops down and smiles as he brings the mic up to his mouth.)
Green: Three months and I'm back baby. The icon only known as The Retribution Killer returns.
(The crownd cheers and quiets down as he begans to talk.)
Green: I know I'm always the guy that never does his promo in the ring but I'm back and I gotta get a couple of things off my chest. Without any hesatation I'm going to get to the point because I gotta lot of stuff to say and it needs to be heard.
I have been given an opportunity to compete in the Test 4 The Best tournament. That means I’ve been handed the chance at Test 4 The Best to prove I not only deserve that APW World Heavyweight Title, but to make sure everyone in the tournament, all the new guys or the ones that have forgotten, especially Tony Blackwell, Victor Brander, Dr. Phate, that they should respect all that I have accomplished. And when victory comes my way, they will see that there is much more to come my way in the APW again. You guys also ask about those that haven’t had the honor or the privilege of running the APW as the World Heavyweight Champion. Well where do I start? How about Tony Blackwell? Our Xtreme Champion. The fearless Powerful superstar known to put on 5 star matches. Well either those 5 star matches led you to this point or they didn’t have anyone left the throw into the tournament, but regardless the reason you are trapped inside the ring with a former World Champion and two other idiots you are gonna have two choices.
(John raises his hand close to his face and shows two of his fingers.)
Green: On one hand you will have 2 other superstars trying to beat you till there is nothing left and you eventually fail. On the other hand you have victims that will fall flat on there backs and leave with another loss to there record as you stand the next man that can be #1 contender for the World Heavyweight Title. Not many choices but that is what it narrows down to, and the choice is yours. Either you win or you lose Tony, there is no happy medium in this. You are with the best, and you want to make a name, then here is a 5 star match that will sure as hell give the fans a name to talk about. Is it going to be, “Tony Blackwell, what do you think about being the new number one contender?” or are people going to say, “Hmm, Tony Blackwell? ? Sorry you must be confused, the APW doesn’t have an Tony Blackwell, must have been a rookie nobody.”? What will they say? What do you do? How does the tourney fall in your favor?I'll tell you how it will. It won't Tony. You see you had your chance to shine but you blew it last week. If it wasn't for me coming back Ton you'd be shit out of luck my friend. Tony all you are is just another mid carder looking for his shot to the big time. But you will never make it big Tony. You see the main event are for the ruthless son's of bitches that will do anything for the richest prize in the buisiness. Tony you're better with the rookies my friend. So take ny advice if you get in my way in the match I will obliterate you.
(Green starts to walk around the ring.)
Green: You know let’s not focus on just one superstar in this match, there are plenty more to go around and Tony is just one hoping to reach his hand in the jar and take that last cookie from everyone else. Katrina Olivetti you're just like Tony a waste of the APW lockerrom. You lost your chance at the tourney but you are getting a second chance. Katrina you are just like the other Blackwell sister. A couple of months back I beat that bitch so bad she never wanted a match with me again. It will be juswt the same with you Katrina. You see you are just a card filler Katrina. Jeff has you signed but doesn't know what to do with you. How much preparation do you have? How prepared are you at all? These things should be going through your mind Katrina. You will never be able to top me Katrina. All you're thinking about is winning the title when you should be concentrating me. But Katrina since you are and will always be a nobody I'm going to go to my next and final competitor in the match, Austin Danilens.
(Green looks around the arena and smiles as he raises the mc up to his mouth.)
Green: Austin first of all you aren't even in my league. I don't even know when or why you even got here. Austin I'm not even going to waste my time with you man. To tell the truth I don't even think you have a chance in this match as mutch as much as FLavor Flav has a chance of actually keeping on one of his girls.
(The fans laugh as Green also chuckles at the joke.)
Green: So here I am asswipes, got any other wise sayings? Anymore words to that will waste precious mental and physical preparation time? What else can you say that will gain my attention before I continue preparing myself for probably one of the biggest matches in my career? I’ll have the television on… Don’t hold back guys… I’m ready for you all.
(John drops the mic and does his trademark "Retribution" taunt as the scene fades away.)
