All week the questions have spewed out Why Twister? Why did you beat the hell out of Jeff. Why did you leave him with in an inch of his life... Why didnt you finish the job? Maybe today we'll get an answer.
Our scene opens in a seedy bar deep with in chicago. The man of the hour is perched near the bar, a fair sized grace area is given to a man not exactly known for his being kind to strangers. The bartender approaches cautiously.
Anything ya need?
Yeah another bottle.
You already downed one, are you sure.
Twister scoffs at the bartenders notion that he's had too much to drink and slams down a couple crisp canadian hundreds on the table.
Thats Canadian money.
Yeah, our economy's better than yours.
But.
Twister slams another bill on the table.
Get me the fucking bottle.
With Twister obvously aggitated the barkeep sweeps up the money and does as he's told. Twister turns to the crowd which is now all eyes on him. Twister adjusts his shirt and stands up taking a step towards the mass.
What? The hell you all looking at?
A resounding silence answers the man. Finally one younger man steps forward and begins clapping. A woman beside him nods in approval and also begins to clap and the trend continues until the entire capacity of the bar are applauding the APW star. Twister steps back a smirk creeps across his face.
Finally some respect.
The bartender comes behing Twister and plants the bottle on the bar. Twister turns and acknowledges the bartender.
So why'd ya do it Twister. The busiest time in APW history, and I mean obviously the entire roster had to have thought about it, but no one would have actually taken Jeff out.
He needed to come back down to earth.
What did he do to you?
Nothing. Jeff gave me my breaks. Couldnt be more grateful for that... but.
Twister takes a swig out of the fresh bottle and lets out a groan.
He'd changed. He stopped caring about the people that got him here, changed his focus... The time had come.... He needed to know that we werent going to take it anymore.
We?
Thats not important.
But.
No. Let it go. Look Jeff used to be all about apeasing the fans, more importantly about looking out for his stars. Now look at him, cutting corners, bringing in fresh talent? Sure thats great, Im all for it, but when they start being given all the breaks, its time to make a change.
Maybe they're just better than you guys.
No... They're not. You know not of which you speak man... Look... In the long run it doesnt matter about new guys or anything else. It delves deeper than that. Me and Jeff, we go way back.
Jeff and I.
No Me and Jeff, what do you have to do with it?
No I mean.
Twister arches an eyebrow and the bartender immediately backs off and lets Twister continue.
We go way back, been up and down the block so many times it makes our cities prostitutes look outta sorts. We've been partners together in the past, we've been rivals in the past, we've been as even as two stars at the top of their game have ever been. Jeff changed though man, lost focus. I guess its what happens when you bury yourself in an office. Jeff runs the business as well as anyone dont misunderstand... I respect everything he does in the office, but he kept putting himself in the ring and making his stars put him over, and for what. To stroke that massive ego that he has, so that everyone could be conned into believing that he was still a force in the ring and out. President Jeff shoulda stayed in the office... but he had to try to steal the spotlight, so because of that I was put in the position to do what I had to do.
Being?
Remember when I came here, I said I had to save APW... And I did. I saved it from the poisons that were trying to take over. Lambardo, gone. Phate, gone... Then Jeff started making mistakes... Let too many talents go in the rush of trying to push himself to the top of the game again. I stepped in, I took him OUT! Look how smoothly things went since then. Things just have the right way of workng themselves out when you let the inmates run the asylum.
Wow.
Yeah, its deep.
You think your ready to go toe to toe with Jeff now, I mean even you yourslf were off for almost a month.
Yeah, I was. I had my own things I had to get done, then I got back intime to rid APW of another plague. The misfits who tried to take over... Where are they now... who's left?
Well your opponent this week was one of them carl Cage.
Didnt he quit?
Well yeah. But then he came back.
So he quit, to get out of the main event at Carnage and then decided he'd come back.
That seems about right.
What a loser. Carl, your obviously allergic to success, clearly your brain has taken one too many chair shots. Let me say this, I feel talking too much about you while drinking is a waste of time. You should have stayed gone. Quit. Do the world a favor, dont show up Tuesday. Your nothing cage. You knew you couldnt hang with us, nothings changed, cept now you dont have people with talent to carry your sorry freeloading ass. Hell even the ultimate loser Jason Royce gave up hope on you. Doesnt that tell you something Cage. You had your chance... You wasted it on nobodies and made yourself one in the process. Tuesday, you WILL fear Twister's Rage.
Confident.
Always.
Well... No matter why you do what you do, thank you. Just make sure you finish the job.
Always.
Twister grabs the rapidly emptying bottle off the bar and salutes the bar keep as he heads through the crowd towards the exit.
