*The pirated video feed of Pure Innovation's Personal Cameraman, Emrys statics into life. There is no elaborate scene set up. What comes up on the screen is very simple. It can be defined in one word.... Dominance.
Walking down the backstage hallway on the way to the ring is an image that will be seen repeatedly over 2009. Taking the lead of this new Supergroup is "The Career Killer" Trevor Blackwell. For all intents and purposes, he is the current APW World Heavyweight Champion... the belt displayed proudly over his left shoulder. Tonight will be the second episode of what has really become the "Trevor Blackwell Show." APW Monday Night Overdrive pretty much revolved around him for most of 2008. He was voted APW Superstar of The Year by the Faithful. He headlined more Pay Per Views then any other competitor throughout Action Packed Wrestling's brutal calender of events. And he is an incredibley controversial figure coming into the new year. He has a lot of questions to answer, and he's on his way to the ring right now to address the fans. But this isn't just about him... when have you ever known The King of Hardcore to travel alone?
Beside him treads the equally (or possibly even more) controversial Tabitha Crowley. She stepped into APW and Trevor Blackwell's life relatively recent and has already left a deep impact. She carries a razor sharp Bowie Knife in her suprisingly delicate hands. That's the same knife that rid APW of the pretender Champion, Sabur. That is just one of many bones they have to pick here tonight.
Behind them towers Carl Cage. He's only been in Action Packed Wrestling for a short time but he's already one of the most talked about competitors of the year... declared THE Rising Star by the people that pack the arenas night in and night out. He is another monster rookie who's hitched his trailer to the Blackwell Caravan. And we've all seen what Trevor Blackwell can do with a young powerhouse...
Trailing behind is "The Iceman" Jason Royce. Trevor has known him almost as long as he's been in this business. He's met him in the ring countless times. Many say that he was integral in The Hardcore Icon's career. He helped Trevor bring about a resurgence of Extreme and he's one of the hardest working men in the business. Pure Innovation could be his chance to finally get noticed.
They approach the Gorilla Position at the time already prearranged with APW's Programming Director and "Crush 'Em" by Megadeth starts to echo from the other side of the curtain... silencing the hungry crowd... making them scream at the concept of getting this intimate time with Pure Innovation. The fans in attendance now have something to rub in the faces of their coworkers Tuesday Morning. They were there for history in the making...
The lights go down and blue and white strobe lights illuminate the stage. Everybody's Hero, The King of Hardcore, "The Career Killer" Trevor Blackwell appears, the APW World Heavyweight Championship over his shoulder, his Singapore Cane clutched in his hand, his arms outstretched in the Trademark Blackwell Crucifix Pose as gouts of blue ghost flame erupt from the stage on either side of him, the crowd exploding to a deafening roar and the red and blue strobes spread out across the arena. A slender, yet toned arm slips over his shoulder, sharp nails digging into his neck for a moment before Tabitha Crowley slinks around him. She lifts a knee to his chest and leans in close with a sly smile. One of Trevor's arms raises his Singapore Cane above his head as the other wraps around Tabitha's back, leaning her back and kissing her deeply before letting her up as the two look out over the APW Faithful, another gout of ghost flames erupting on either side of the couple. Behind him appears Carl Cage. The mountain of talent stands behind them, raising his fist and soaking in the adulation of the fans, the sick smile that he couldn't stop if he wanted to is illuminated by the ghost flames. "The Iceman" Jason Royce appears beside Carl Cage, striking a Crucifix Pose and enjoying the best reception of his career. The Hardcore Icon struts down the aisle, staring out over the crowd but not feeling nearly as affectionate, Tabitha on his arm with her eyes focused on the squared circle. The rest of Pure Innovation follow in his wake, feeling much of the same sentiments, confusing the APW Faithful. He reaches the ring and stops as Ms. Crowley takes his leather jacket from his shoulders before he slides under the bottom rope to scale each turnbuckle respectively, striking his Crucifix pose for every facet of the crowd before stepping into the middle of the ring and raising his Sinapore Cane over his head, one more gout of ghost flame erupting from each of the four posts. Carl Cage follows suit but shows off his size, stepping over the top rope like his forefathers. Jason Royce sits down on the middle rope but Tabitha looks at him strangely. She climbs in on the other side of the ring and the Iceman quickly takes a turnbuckle that isn't occupied by The King of Hardcore, taking his chance to experience the cheers. Let them cheer... this very well may be the last time..*
Emrys tosses The Career Killer a microphone and gets better positioning in the ring. Trevor leans out over the ropes and smiles.*
Trevor: So here we are... I'm here to keep my promise. I told every last person watching that 2009 would be a new era. And you're witnessing it now. Pure Innovation. Remember it. Fuck Michael Lively, this is really the hottest shit going. I don't suggest getting in our way.
*The crowd pops predictably. The King of Hardcore feels quite sadistic as he looks out over his Faithful... staring into the eyes of a child in the third row... realizing that the kid has no clue that his hero is about to break his heart.*
Trevor: I am here, fulfilling the prophecy that I laid out. I swore that I would start 2009 with the APW World Heavyweight Championship over my shoulder and I made good on my words. But everywhere I look tonight... I see the same question in the eyes of every last one of you... Its the same question that's been asked of me over and over for the last week. Why? Why did you turn your back on your friend? Why did you take it to that level? Why did you and Tabitha end Sabur's career? How could you be so cold-blooded?
*He steps away from the ropes, pacing now, weaving in and out of the other three demons surrounding him.*
Trevor: You all cheered me as loud as ever but I couldn't help but hear the silent accusations... Like anyone who's been in a deep, long relationship, I can read you all like a book. But don't look to me to place your blame. This is all Sabur's fault. The blame could even be handed to the referee. It was his bad call that started all this... It was my "best friend"'s cowardice that brought out Tabitha's blade. The Man-Cow's own self-centered pride. I am the true APW World Heavyweight Champion. Sabur's arm was raised on a bad call from the referee. Watch the tapes of Christmas Chaos. Watch that breath-taking Main Event again. I know you've all downloaded it off actionpackedwrestling.com. You voted it Match of The Year for gods' sake. Hit the freeze frame button because underneath that pile of carnage and broken bodies that was left in the aftermath of the Long Island Deathmatch, I had Sabur's shoulders pinned. But it was Sabur's arm that was raised. He was the fraud that walked out with MY title around his waist.
*He turns towards the camera again.*
Trevor: We gave my old "buddy" a full week to correct the mistake. We gave him every chance to own up to the fact that I was screwed... that he was a fake champion... but he kept his silence. So Tabitha and I set the record straight for him. We had to make a statement. We had to show that we were done being screwed by incompetant management and officials. We had to show that we wouldn't sit there and be bullied. We had to cut deep into the consciousness of the public. If Sabur is really the monster that I've made him out to be, he'll be back in no time. This is all about answering questions and making statements. Its all I've heard since walking into APW. The closest to me have asked time and again why I don't just focus on what's important. My brother, Tony wanted to know why I keep trying to earn the people's love. Kristina always wanted to know why I cared. Tabitha keeps asking me why I take the high road. And finally I've had enough. I'm sick of being held back. I'm sick of being Everybody's Hero. I'm sick of being The Champion of The People. I'm sick of producing one five star match after another and not getting the recognition of APW's Championship Comittee. They don't want to see me be World Champion. They never did. They want someone with a more corporate friendly image... someone they can control. A Twister... a Dr. Phate... a Sabur... But no more. Now I'm taking my spot. I'm shoving it down Jeff's throat and I hope to hell that he chokesl.
*The Career Killer looks down at Tabitha with a smile before continuing his pacing.*
Trevor: So now I get to sell out another New Year's Retribution. This is the crew that I should've had with me last year. We are Pure Innovation and APW just isn't prepared for this. They're not prepared for the stunning brutality of Tabitha Crowley. They're not prepared for lockdown that Carl Cage and Jason Royce are going to put the tag team division on tonight. They're not prepared for the Era of Hardcore. And Rick "The Dick" Stevens gets to be the first example. He will be a hapless victim of this steamroller just like the "so-called" Tag Team Champions. The is the worst time for Rick to try to mount a comeback. I'm about to kill his career before it even starts. He's just in the wrong match at the wrong time. And by Tuesday morning, this will all just be a blur. All he'll have to show for it is another loss and the bruises left by his brush with greatness. Monday night the takeover begins. May the gods have mercy on your souls.
*"Crush 'Em" by Megadeth echoes across the arena and the cheers are gone. The Faithful are silent. What does this mean? Are they supposed to support this? Did Trevor just say he didn't need them?*
