Not Just Another APW Jobber
Pride? Is this really what it’s all about? Well, maybe it is for Michael Lively. Maybe it means something for him and his Hired Gunz teammates to make an impact since beating Level One and co. at Carnage. That isn’t at stake for me though. APW is the ultimate in sports entertainment today. Being that I am at the top of APW’s talented roster, I don’t think I have much to worry about Hired Gunz’s Highflying Legend anymore. Everyone will make their predictions about which one of us is the better superstar since he beat me a few weeks back. In the end, the best man will stand in the center of the ring with enough pride to flick off each other. There may be a couple of variables to be dealt with but when all is said and done, it will be John Green rising to the occasion and taking out Hired Gunz’s shining Womanizing Bad-boy. It won’t be the last time either…
~Scene~
Green: What the hell are you looking at?
A rather fat man holding a camera on his shoulder turns away. John shudders as he sees the gash made upon his face in the mirror. As he tends to the wound the camera man pans around to let the audience know the surroundings. Seemingly, he is still inside an APW arena. John turns back to the man.
Green: Are you here for a reason? Is that sister coming to meet me?
The man shakes his head.
Green: What good are you then? I suppose you’re looking for an interview. Ok… Well?
The man nods and walks over.
Green: Well… You’re not getting one from me! Why don’t you go see what this Michael Lively character has to say. Because as of now, he seems to be avoiding his current situation as he would rather ride motorcycles then get to the point in our match. What? Don’t get mad at me! I told you to bring me that damn sister!
John walks back into his locker room smiling. He goes over to his duffle bag with everything already packed inside and lifts it up onto his shoulder. He opens the door and makes his way back outside. The camera man is still standing but John just flashes a smirk and continues on. Just as he is about to leave the arena, the very well known friend of John, Chris, comes up to him.
Chris: What's Up, John? Everything is set up right? It’s happening this week?
Green: Uh…yeah. I need to keep this on the down low. Besides, I have to keep my focus on this week.
Chris nods and walks back off while John just shakes his head. Noticing his car, he walks up to it, and gets in. He throws his bags in the back and starts it up.
~Now in his car, on the way to Wisconsin~
John looks outside his window to the darkness of the night before he drives under a street light which once again illuminates the area for a few short seconds. He slightly squints with his eyes and stares out into the empty highway. In the solemn feeling of the evening, you can see past the usual John Green. Once in a while the calm side of him shows through, making him a much nicer guy. The asshole only comes out during times when he feels the need to be cocky and show people that confidence is not a trait he lacks. Sometimes, John just feels like he’s got something to prove. Maybe that’s because he is still a much underrated superstar. Even after appearing in World title matches here in APW, he still feels the need to improve and get better in everything he does. Now he faces a different sort of obstacle though meeting the man in the ring before. Suddenly, John has been thrown into this Main Event match to prove APW is the more dominant federation. His opinion is that Hired Gunz superstars shouldn’t grace the same ring as talented wrestlers like himself. However, it seems this stable is very much alive and running strong. If John is the man they need, he will stick behind APW until its dying day.
John Green: The funny thing about these Hired Gunz guys is they honestly think they’ve got the better chance in this thing they got going on in APW. They feel they’ve got the upper hand here. Maybe they have so far, but that’s only because of the talent they’ve gone up against. To face the lower ranks like Jason Royce and win isn’t much of an accomplishment. Frankly, you’re lucky to be in the ring with me Michael… Jeff figured that if you're World Heavyweight Champion for Hired Gunz, it would bring great ratings to put you in a match with APW’s Mr. Mondat Night in the Main Event again. We’ve yet to see if that’s worked. Even if it does, the main reason for it will be yours truly gracing the world with his presence yet again. So how’s life treating you Michael? You seem to have a nice little family there… I wonder what that your nast whorish mother thinks about your “womanizing” lifestyle. Or your "hardcore-highflying" lifestyle? Does she like it when you do something sadistic enough to kill a man? Or does she like it when you go Chris Brown on women and beat them violently because of their gender. Your life seems very tainted. How could you live both lives? Me? Well, I’m not even ready for that kind of thing yet. I’m still living life to the fullest. You know the deal… Clubs, parties, booze... All that good stuff. I bet if you could you would give it all back to have one night from my life. Well, it’s too bad you never will live the great life of John Green. No one will, but me, and that’s what intrigues me each and every week. I, the APW's next World Heavyweight Champion am larger than life, baby!
John grins from ear to ear as he continues to cruise along the highway.
~At a rest stop on the way~
Green: Do you have any alcohol here?
A man stands behind the counter looking to be a drunken red neck.
Man: What do you think buddy?
John smiles and nods to him. Walking towards the alcoholic beverage aisle, he eyes a 6 pack of Budweiser’s but then stops and goes to the energy drinks. He takes out one of the licensed energy drinks and shakes his head. While he walks to the counter the man behind it looks confused.
Man: The alcohol is right over there.
Green: Got to stay in shape, though.
Man: For what?
John grins and throws a five dollar bill on the counter. He leaves the store and stands outside for a moment embracing the cool breeze during the summer night’s warmth.
Green: You know Michael; you are far unlike any opponent I’ve ever been dealt with. First off, you’ve got the hates for women… Not too many people do in APW or in any wrestling organization. It’s a lot for one man to have all on one plate. It gets pretty tough and I realized that when I saw you without a loving family on television the other day. You seem drained and in a daze sometimes. You’re a decent talent, that’s a given, but what is going on around you takes something away from you. A piece of you is missing, my friend… You’re like an unfinished puzzle just waiting to be put back to regular form. Call me crazy, but with the way you are situated, I think at times you lose a lot of your focus to to getting a family started though you despise women. On top of that you wrestle in two or three different organizations. Now that you are in the big leagues, and you are with Action Packed Wrestling, things get tougher and it’s a lot more to swallow. You may have been able to do it with your other federations, but when you agreed to an APW contract, your walls began to close in.
He takes a deep breath and smiles as he hangs his head.
John Green: You may not think so when facing off against the likes of Jason Royce, Carl Cage and the rest of the jobbers, but once you get to bigger and better guys, you’ll realize you can’t pass through here looking for success without being completely dedicated. Well, wait! You aren’t dedicated to APW… You’re Hired Gunz scum. You live, breathe, and sleep Hired Gunz. Well, you’re going to have to accept the fact sooner or later that you were bought out to APW, and you can either take it by storm, or you continue to face these jobbers with that rebel attitude. Which is basically why you have been forced to tell those meaningless other men in your life to “fuck off.” Good for you… Look, I’m glad you find fun in doing other things with your life other than APW, but the fact is this, Michael. I am an APW Superstar. I am proud of my company and was overjoyed to hear I was going up against Hired Gunz’s top gun. You said it yourself, you're the JESUS here in APW and no one can stop you, but that is only because of the lackluster talent you had for you and against you. You are Hired Gunz’s diamond in the rough, and with that, I’ll be proud to take you out and show the world what a real APW Superstar can do.
John busts open the cap of his energy drink and takes a long gulp, feeling the vibe running through him. He goes over to his car and gets in sticking in his keys and immediately clicking the AC button. He pushes the air waves toward him and lets his head rest on his shoulders for a few minutes. He takes another sip of the drink as he closes his eyes and has numerous thoughts swipe through his mind. He wakes up from his trance and looks around him wondering what happened. He rubs at his eyes trying to relieve himself from how tired he has become.
Green: I’m going to need this shit to kick in or you’ll find your next World Heavyweight Champion in a ditch next to the road.
John laughs as he takes another sip and then proceeds to back out and return to the highway.
~At a hotel in Wisconsin~
John walks towards the counter with his bag and energy drink. Tossing the can into a nearby garbage disposal, he sees the woman behind the counter out of the corner of his eye. His head quickly shifts over to her and a wide smile appears on his face.
Green: Uh, I’m going to need a room. I was wondering if you could give it to me or something…
John nods and leans against the table still showing off his toothy grin.
Woman: I can certainly get you a room.
Green: I don’t think you understand… I want you in my room.
John grins but the Woman throws a key toward the elevator.
Woman: You’re on floor 11 pervert!
Green: What was that for!? I only asked for a nice little evening…
The woman can’t help but grin as he goes to grab his key. He comes back and throws her the money and goes towards the elevator.
~In his suite…~
John Green is lying back on his bed watching television. Suddenly a split screen is shown on the APW 24/7 Channel. Level One is on the left and John Green is on the right. You can see by the expression on his face that he isn’t happy. He stands up and goes to the T.V. to watch as many different clips are shown from John’s elimination at the rumble to his loss at Carnage last Sunday. His anger disappears as he slowly lets a cocky smirk come over him. He takes a look around his spacious suite and decides to just lie back down and watch…
Green: I’ve got nothing more to say to you Level... I have a man dead-set on bringing APW down and holding onto me while he does so. As of now, he is my first priority, but as you already know, once I you other impulse takes over. I become a different man, wanting only to destroy you and everything around you. Call me crazy, but you took what was mine. I want it yo be even, but it doesn’t seem that way. Something…is missing.
John sighs and flicks the channel to the sport section. He checks the Brave's game’s score and is dissatisfied with the 4-5 defeat.
John Green: The damn Braves… They can win 5 for you, and then lose ten… Anyway, I should close out the night with some ending words for my little JESUS friend. I’ve yet to hear anything from Michael as of late besides his little motorcycle rantering, but I feel like he will have some words with me after what I said earlier today. Just so you know Michael, I’m not in character right now… Everything I said is truly what I feel and I don’t regret any of it. I don’t give a shit if you are the JESUS of APW or APW World Champ. You can be the prince of china and I wouldn’t pay any attention to you. Put it this way, you’re from Hired Gunz… That’s why you haven’t got any respect from me nor no one else. The only reward you’ve been given is to be given the chance to walk around with the World Championship to see what it is like. You barely even beat Trevor Blackwell that good to get it. He’s cocky, angry, and can back up all the words he spits out. You… Well, you call yourself JESUS. But I already have learned your weakness only by watching some of your promos. And I don’t plan on being nice when I open up that doorway. I am a young, talented, APW superstar and I have nothing holding me back. I know wrestling is your life. But dou you really have to join every new promotion that hits the streets. The grass is certainly greener on this side of the wrestling world, and I think you will find that out on Tuesday night.
John doesn’t smile… He sits there on top of his bed with a straight face deep in thought. He lies back and shuts off the television. The lights go out and a deep sigh is heard.
The Fade to Black.
Pt.1 End
More and more, it seems that Michael Lively has been avoiding and resisting the fact that he is going up against an amazing talent in John Green. More and more he seems unable to decipher the reason why he was was the APW WOrld Heavyweight Champion and why he is APW’s rising superstar. If it is all an act, it is being played well. However, if he truly thinks that John is just another one of the APW jobbers, he has something coming to him. For two months since returning John has tried to prove all of APW wrong. He was doubted his whole time here after being the bright spot and the “next big thing” for the federation. And now, after making all the noise he has been lately, a man who knows nothing about him, decides to go ahead and bring back what has become almost no-existent in Action Packed Wrestling. Why must he go back down this path of no prevail? Only because he is dealing with a man who knows completely nothing about the history and the foundation that is APW. He only knows what he has been dealt to know about; therefore, making assumptions about things that he can hardly understand is very unnecessary and should not be taken lightly. If more people want to go ahead and doubt his ways, let them, but after the final roadblocks are finally knocked down, the only way to go will be on the path to greatness…Where he has always deserved to be.
Green: I said, let me in you fucking gorilla.
A man very large in size stands in front of a nicely dressed John Green, guarding the backstage entrance.
Security Guard: Look, I said you’re not on the list.
Green: Oh, fuck this; I’m the best World Champion APW has ever had… Please just let me in…
Security Guard: Wait, you mean you are Michael Lively!?
Green: Uh, yeah, sure!
Security Guard: OH! Ok, right this way…
John frowns as he kicks open the door. The guard gives him a stern look but John just ignores it and continues on. Many APW Superstars stand around outside their locker rooms as Overdrive is only a few hours away now. A group of very attractive groupies eye the former World Champ from head to toe. John continues on proudly watching all of low carders discussing strategy.
Suddenly, nasty obese lady working backstage waddles around a hallway smiling munching down on a donut. John shudders as the fat from her stomach folds out from under her shirt and bounces around like a tub of jelly. She gives him a faint smile and then turns her head as he walks by, obviously checking out his behind… John turns around quickly and finds her eyes trailing up from his mid-section to his eyes.
Green: UGH! PLEASE! GO AWAY!!
She looks disgusted as she walks away while John turns and lets out a similar face to hers. He can’t help but laugh as he finally finds a door with his name written on display. John puts in his key and lets the door slowly open. He walks inside to a comfortable looking lounge treated only for TRUE APW Champions.
Green: You see this? This is quality only great champions deserve.
John laughs and throws his keys on a nearby counter. After a long drive from Minnesota to Wisconsin, he quickly feels the urge to wash off and get himself calm before he goes into his match.
~Later on in the night, an hour from Overdrive~
Green: Are we ready to go?
A camera man stands next to his tripod counting down from five. John sits down next to the wrestling equipment in full attire as the man’s count reaches one. Obviously everything from now on has become scripted.
~On the Air~
The scene switches over to the arena where the titantron lights up focused on John Green’s face. He is very focused and not in a joking mood. The camera pans around the audience just beginning to file in while the overflowing noise of cheers surrounds them. More and more people kick in with cheers as John Green sits on a stool, delicately taping up his wrists. A woman wearing a nice red dress walks over next to him and holds a microphone close to her mouth.
Interviewer: I’m here with the Retribution Killer just an hour away from his much awaited Main Event rematch against Michael Lively. Hopefully we can hear his last words before facing off with the hardcore, highflying expert in Michael Lively…
Green: Wait a second… Last words? I’ve been hearing this shit all week and it’s about time I addressed it. The media and the superstars in the back have doubted me all week, something that hasn’t happened since I dropped the ball at last years Rasslemania. Not that I mind the superstars in the back… They can kiss Lively’s ass all they want. You see, people hype things up all the time. It’s just another thing that goes along with the fame and fortune of being an APW main eventer… What makes me tick in this situation is that Michael Lively is a man who has twisted ways of doing things. What I mean by that is, he has a lot of holes in his life. Which is why I am confused about why those assholes of superstars can’t find a better story than counting out a proven star.
Interviewer: So you’re saying that the media should be invading Lively rather than you…?
Green: You heard me right the first time. I hate it when those idiots act like themselves. Please, just try and look smart for your own sake.
John finishes off the taping of his left wrist and starts on the right. The crowd erupts into cheers once again. The woman looks confused and intruded but shakes it off and brings the microphone back to her own lips.
Interviewer: Well then… In a recent televised promo, Lively released a statement that you're no threat to him and the fact that he has to fight you again is a joke. Your thoughts?
Green: There are none. He can do and say whatever the hell he wants but before he he can actually start yapping his mouth about this match being easy, he has to win this one. It doesn’t matter to me where this man goes in life after we’re through. I’ve had enough of Lively in one week, there’s no need to push this meaningless match any farther… Unless I'm beating his ass for the World title that is.
Interviewer: So this match is meaningless to you?
Green: Once again, yes that is what I said… Is that a fucking shock? It shouldn’t be… I have better things to do with my life then dwell on Hired Gunz team members.
Interviewer: Lively also stated that he isn't really worried about superstars like you. He just wants to show his true power against Level One.
Green: Yeah, I heard… You know what, I don’t think it matters whether he thinks he's Jesus or not. Either way Level One's going to take that title strap from around his waist then I'm taking it from his. End of story.
Interviewer: So then why di—
John cuts her off…
Green: You know what; I can do this by myself. Get this chick out of here.
The woman leaves aggravated. A door is heard shutting fairly hard. This comes as a delight to John Green as he takes a microphone near the wires and lifts it up to his mouth.
Green: Now I can direct my words to Michael Lively and Michael Lively alone… He talked about me like I was a pile of shit so I plan to treat him the same way in the ring. Throughout his whole speech I found myself pondering upon the reason he would even think about me in such a way he has. I found out why in a matter of seconds however. It is because he is a confident, cocky, womanizing asshole who has no meaning in his words. Every single one flies out with no moderation at all. What hit me most was the fact that you said I was under you and in the same rate as Jason Royce. You just keep proving my point right, Michael… You’re words are never thought, only spit out with a meaningless effort. You’ve been nothing compared to me though others would disagree. But I figured what the hell; let me point out to everyone that what you said was complete bullshit so that they wouldn’t have to waste time doing it themselves.
John finishes up taping his wrists and stands right in the lens of the camera.
John Green: You can continue to tell yourself how great you are and that you're "JESUS". Tonight you will have to live up to your own words. When the walls close in on you which will have been a long time coming, I will love the fact that I will be staring right into your face as it happens. I need to see that expression when you are beaten by John “The Jobber” John. Then for once this week, it will be you having to overcome the adversity of being beaten since you are the World Champ. You’ve kept your words harsh and hard so now when I personally feed them back to you it’s going to be a lot to chew on. Maybe with this win, it will be enough for reality to finally set in with that thick head of yours. Just maybe, I can help you out a little bit here, and set your sights back to where they should be. One thing that I can do is for sure, though. As you look up at the lights with that final tap of the mat, you can think to yourself… Maybe this kid isn’t so bad. Maybe John Green actually is great. Maybe he can actually back his own words up! An amazing thought indeed! But then, the bittersweet felling of hate will run through as you realize that you were just another to fallen victim to me. But in the end, it won’t mean shit. You’re just another brick in the road, another obstacle to pass in my pursuit of perfection. With this fight, the only thing I can get out of it is the simplicity of defeat. No lesson will be learned and no good will come out of it. Only bad can come out of it. And after thinking about it, pride will be a factor. With the mountain of words you’ve built up, crashing it down will be the most pride I’ve experienced in days. Just remember after this night that you counted me out… You thought of me as just another APW peasant… You figured I was just another wannabe piece of shit. Fuck the thoughts and fuck the media. Everyone… Including Michael Lively… Were wrong.
John Green takes his ear piece out with one hand and drops the microphone with the other. He gets up and makes his way out of the locker room. The camera man raises his equipment off of the tripod and follows John. He runs through the door and makes a turn towards the left. The scene of John Green walking out into the distance is the last thing before the camera cuts out.
“I can do this”
“It will be done”
“It has to be done”
John stands in front of a large titanium set of bars and waits… Overdrive hits the air and with that, the scene comes to a close.
The Fade to Black.
