Hey guys! So, I just posted my first RP for an Overdrive show EVER, and I'd really love some feedback on that, or any other of my RPs you'd like to comment on. I do have a few questions for you guys too, if you don't mind answering them....
1) Do you prefer I do my blog post-RPs, first person, or third person RPs? I'd like to get opinions on that. 2) What's the ideal balance of doing colors as opposed to bold/italics/underlines for coding around here on RPs? I haven't quite grasped it yet...

I can't BELIEVE nobody has replied to this yet.
I'll get more in depth when I have more time but for now.....
First, I thought it was your best roleplay to date...by far. You put a little something extra in that and showed that you belonged on Overdrive.
to answer your questions.
1. I wasn't really a fan of the "blog" rps.... In fact I'm almost never a fan of those. I thought the third person RP flowed better. But in all honesty, this is up to you. It depends on what gets you excited and helps you to write better.
2. I've found that in coding, less is more. Too many bold/italics/underlines distracts from the reading. Color coding is good, but really distinct colors are only needed for dialogue and you only really need color for main characters....not every tom dick and harry that makes an appearence. I'm not saying you do this, just giving you my general opinion on the subject.
Again, I'll have a fuller feedback later, and hopefully somebody else gets in on this.

Jumping in here.
1. Do you prefer I do my blog post-RPs, first person, or third person RPs?
I actually prefer promos that have a ‘novelty value’. What does that mean? Something that stands out. Something that’s different. Yeah, ok, someone might come and point out that all of the ‘top’ names here do pretty much the same style, but that shouldn’t be a reason to not do something different. I mean, at the end of the day, you’re probably going to be saying 99% of the same things. Why not say it in a memorable way? In a way that lets you communicate what you want to say in a much more ‘effective’ way?
With that said, there’s a risk in this blog approach. You risk falling into the whole thing just turning into an unstructured ‘ramble’. Where you ask yourself a good question and then just go on about this. Then that. Then this. Then that. And then you’ve not taken it to the opponent or anything. I’m definitely not saying you’re doing that, just something to be mindful of. Also, a style like this (fan asks question, you answer), it can really handicap your creative thinking. I know that there was a time when I was efedding (before APW) when I just lost all motivation and didn’t have the guts to take a break. What did I do? I just had all my promos have a fan ask me a question and Sally answer. Then a different fan, different question, and Sally answer. After a while, I lost any skill I had at writing a natural setting, a natural conversation, a logical development, an extended promo (I could only write, like, 500 words and throw on 2-300 more of description and ‘top and tail’ before I ran out of ideas and motivation). So all I saying here is that keep your own promos fresh and step outside of the style every now and then, at least to test yourself.
I noticed that you didn’t post blog-style last time (I think?) in Set to Disappoint. I will say this: Your blog style is more unique than the style you applied in Set to Disappoint. In this latest one ... it was bland (the style, not the content). It stands out more than that last style. If it’s a choice between the two - stick with the blog style. You can get more in and you can be more creative and personally expressive (as in Roy can express his inner feelings and ideas better).
2. What's the ideal balance of doing colors as opposed to bold/italics/underlines for coding around here on RPs?
I think Roy should have a speech colour, any major NPC’s have their own colour, and any contributing megastars have their own. Anyone else, just have normal, non-italicized speech. For actions, all actions, I have it as italics. And I’d suggest having the italics for actions to distinguish them from the speech that will be not coloured. That’s just the way I do it, and it seems to work.
