::The holiday break the APW took for Christmas and New Years is over. Now it is time to get back to work, and that means that the APW is back on the road and on tour. This time, that tour takes several Meltdown stars to the Great White North of Canada. With Meltdown in Winnipeg, many APW wrestlers have been booked around Canada. One such wrestler is waiting at a counter in a car rental facility in an airport.::
::Amy Zing leans against the counter . Her travel bag is by her jeans-covered legs and low-heeled shoes. Her gym bag, containing her wrestling gear, is over her right shoulder. She is wearing a white blouse under a leather jacket. Her hair is hanging loose. In her free hand is her cellphone, which she is talking on.::
Amy: “No, the flight was fine. I am just waiting for a car. No, there’s no problem. It’s cold up here, but then again, I am in Canada. It would be really weird if I came to Canada and it was something like 80 or 90 degrees. I get to be in the main event this week Meltdown in Winnipeg. I’m wrestling Tuhoa Valo. Yes, “the Finnish Phenom” guy. Finnish as in Finland. I agree, it would be odd if it was finish with one “n”. Wouldn’t make much sense, would it now? Well, I really can‘t say if he‘s big in Finland. Mom, I don‘t even know if I’m all that big in Hong Kong. Yeah, they call me “the Hong Kong Sensation”, but it’s just a name. He and I were in that five-pack challenge a few weeks ago, so that might be why it sounds familiar. Okay Mom, I‘ll drive carefully. Give Dad my love. I’ll call you later, yes after my match. Okay. Bye.”
::Amy ends the call and slips the phone into her pocket. The desk clerk hands “the Hong Kong Sensation” keys and a sheet of paper and receives thanks from her in return. Amy turns to the lot and stops, waving to someone.::
::Hannah Storm, the backstage announcer for Meltdown, enters the rental place. Hannah is dressed in a pantsuit, a long coat, hat and gloves. She is dragging her bag behind her. She looks up from her phone, seeing “the Hong Kong Sensation”.::
Hannah: “Hey Amy.”
Amy: “Hello. How are you?”
Hannah: “I’m good. Just got to get a car.”
Amy: “I just got one.”
::Amy snpas her fingers like she had an idea.::
Amy: “Hey! Want to share mine?”
Hannah: “You don’t mind?”
Amy: “Not at all.”
Hannah: “Well, if you don’t mind.”
Amy: “Great.”
::Amy and Hannah head to the parking lot to get a car. It is getting dark out as the sun is setting. Their breaths are visible as they walk. Amy looks at the paper in her hand and at the various vehicles the place has.::
Amy: “How were your Christmas and New Years?”
Hannah: “They were good. Did Christmas with my family. I was in bed early though on New Years. Having a family will do that.”
Amy: “Well I’m glad you had good times. Mine were good too.”
Hannah: “Wait, aren’t you Buddhist?”
Amy: “Yeah, so? I can celebrate Christmas. I mean, Buddhists have something close in Vesak, which is the commemoration of the birth, enlightenment and passing of Buddha. We celebrate by going to temples, making offerings and giving to the poor. We don’t have a tree or carols or specials. No talking skeletons are beating down the door to take over Buddhist holidays, you know? So really don‘t see a good reason as to why I can‘t celebrate Christmas.”
Hannah: “Okay, fair enough.”
Amy: “My New Years was good too. Of course I have to do another one on February 10th, for the Chinese New Years. Yeah, I know China did New Years with the rest of the world, but they got this whole lunar calendar going on. It’s going to be something like year 4710, give or take.”
Hannah: “That’s a lot.”
Amy: “I know, right?”
::The two eventually find a silver Honda Civic in the parking lot. Amy nods and unlocks the car. Slipping into the driver’s seat, she starts the car up to get the heat going and looks for the trunk release. Finding it, she pulls the lever and pops the trunk. Stepping out, Amy loads her bags in the trunk as Hannah does the same with hers.::
::Amy gets back into the car and unlocks the passenger side for Hannah, who closes the door behind her. Amy takes a moment to get warmed up inside the car. Hannah takes her hat off and fixes her hair a bit.::
Amy: “So you make any New Years Resolutions?”
Hannah: “A few. The usual stuff, lose some weight, spent more time with the family. Stuff like that. What about you?”
Amy: “No, not really. I never keep them anyway. I try to set goals for the year.”
::Hannah seems confused by this statement.::
Hannah: “How is that different than a resolution?”
Amy: “A goal is something to work your way towards. A resolution is like something you say you will do, but never seem to. Though really, you may be right in that they really are not too different.”
Hannah: “So what goals did you set?”
::Amy spares a brief moment to glance at Hannah. “The Hong Kong Sensation smirks.::
Amy: “Why does it feel like you are interviewing me?”
Hannah: “Force of habit. Should I wait until after you’ve wrestled?”
Amy: “Sure. I wrestle tonight. But since you asked, my goal for this year is to try and win a championship. Then again, I set that one for myself last year and it did not work out as well as I hoped it would.”
Hannah: “Well, maybe you can get a one-on-one title match sometime soon.”
Amy: “That would be nice, but I am not really worried about it. I got Tuhoa Valo this week. I really need to worry about him first. I mean say what you want about him, but that guy can definitely knows what he is doing in the ring. I don’t really know how much of a phenom he is in Finland or actually is, but he’s not a slacker between those ropes. Either way, I’ve never wrestled him before in a one-on-one encounter, so I am really looking forward to this. I do like a challenge.”
::Hannah blinks a bit.::
Hannah: “Well, hopefully you get it.”
Amy: “Well thanks. It would be nice to get a great match.”

::The crowd is cheering for APW action. Amy Zing is competing in the ring in the middle of a match. With her opponent is down, Amy takes advantage and goes for her Phoenixsault. She runs towards the ropes, spring boarding off and corkscrewing as she flies back. At the last moment, her opponent lifts the knees and Amy hits right on the midsection.::
::Rolling to the mat with her body somewhat curled up while she is face down, Amy holds her midsection. This allows her opponent to get up off the mat and try to take the advantage. Amy gets lifted off the mat and almost whipped, but gets blasted with a short arm clothesline. Her opponent keeps the pressure on with a pinfall attempt. Amy channels that phoenix-line resilience of hers and manages to kick out at two and a half.::
::Once more, Amy is lifted off the mat by her opponent who hoists her up in a suplex position. “The Hong Kong Sensation” manages to slide out, landing behind her opponent. She goes for an Irish whip, but it gets reversed. Ducking the clothesline attempt, Amy manages to stop herself and connect with her devastating finisher, the Fenghuang Kick, right to the head of her opponent. She quickly goes for a cover, hooking the leg. The crowd chants along as the referee counts the three and gives Amy the win.::
::Amy rolls off her opponent, who rolls out of the ring. The ring announcer announces her as the winner of the match while Rihanna’s “Wait Your Turn” begins to play. Slowly she gets to her feet. The referee raises her arm in victory.::
::The crowd cheers as Amy climbs the nearest turnbuckle, striking her signature pose, bowing down a bit with her fingers pointing down and rising with her arms forward, index fingers touching and then spreads them out to her sides, pointing towards the crowd. She climbs down and goes to the opposite corner, doing the same again at that end. As Amy poses for the crowd, Hannah Storm enters the ring. Amy stops celebrating and stands in the ring with her hands on her hips, trying to catch her breath. Her music stops playing.::
Hannah: “Amy Zing, the Meltdown Supershow didn’t go as you had hoped, but this is a new year. What are your hopes for 2013?”
Amy: “You know Hannah, I think my goal for 2013 is the same as it was in 2012. I am going into 2013 to give my fans the best I can. I enter this new year still trying to prove I am worthy of the moniker “the Hong Kong Sensation”, because while it sells t-shirts, I want to actually prove I deserve it. In 2012, I joined the APW to show everyone why I am simply Amy Zing and plan to continue to do so in 2013.”
::The crowd cheers for Amy Zing’s declaration. She pulls the ribbon from her hair, letting her ponytail come undone.::
Hannah: “You start 2013 facing “the Finnish Phenom” Tuhoa Valo in the year’s first Meltdown in Winnipeg. How are you going to overcome that challenge?”
Amy: “Well personally, I’m just glad we somehow ranked the main event. Hannah, you said it yourself, this is the first Meltdown of 2013 and I going out there to try and make it a memorable one. I will say, that while no one really seems to know if what Tuhoa Valo claims he has done in the past while in Finland is true, I can tell you from experience he’s definitely capable in the ring.”
Amy: “This is a new year and a new chance for beginnings. Tuhoa Valo and I are both looking to make an impact in 2013. The five-pack challenge did not go the way either of us really hoped for, so right now, both of us would love to get back into the title hunt as they call it. Right now, Logan Alexander still holds the North American Championship. I know I would love another opportunity at that championship and I think it is safe to say “the Finnish Phenom” would want an opportunity of his own. I’m not going to take anything away from him. His past may be questionable, but his ability in the ring is not. He may have size and strength over me, but that is really nothing new for me. I am pretty sure a vast majority of my opponents have had a size and strength advantage over me. That does not really matter to me.”
::Amy looks over the crowd for a moment. Hannah Storm is still standing there in the ring with her.::
Amy: “I really do not care if my opponent is bigger than me. I do not care if they are stronger than I am. It does not matter if they have more experience than I do. I want the challenge. I welcome the challenge. I did not get into this business because I wanted something easy to do. Nothing in this line of work is easy. I want the challenge. As they say, it is not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog. Size and power do not always guarantee a victory. One mistake, one missed advantage and even the biggest, most powerful opponent can be beaten.”
::The crowd cheers a bit for Amy. “The Hong Kong Sensation” glances towards the entrance way, toward the backstage area. Hannah Storm moves the mic a bit, so Amy can still speak into it.::
Amy: “Tuhoa Valo, I like to think that I am more than capable of giving someone a pretty good fight. At the very least, I know I will not quit as long as I still have any fight at all still left in. You can think of yourself as a god among men, but even gods can fall.”
Amy: “You have built yourself up as this seemingly legendary wrestler. You have a past no one can either confirm or deny. Now I am not going to stand here and question that past. As I said, no one can confirm or deny any accomplishment you may or may not have. I, however, do not live in the past. I will be the first to admit I have only a few big victories even worth bragging about, not that I would. Those victories are all I have to my name. I have no title history. I have no outstanding, enduring records that may last for years or become a matter of trivia.”
::Amy closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. She exhales slowly while the crowd cheers a bit. Amy opens her eyes, still looking at the entrance way.::
Amy: “And yet, Tuhoa Valo, I am a little okay with that. Why? Because while I would love to have a past with all kinds of championship reigns, outstanding accomplishments and more big victories than I presently have, I feel that not having that makes me stronger. Not having that past means I am still hungry. It give me something to look forward to. It gives me a goal, something to work for. One day, I know will win a championship or accomplish something big. I have complete confidence in my ability and the belief that one day I will accomplish my dreams. And most importantly, I know my fans believe in me.”
::The crowd cheers as Amy Zing points out towards them. She smiles at the cheering masses. She switches hands, pointing towards the other side of the arena and the fans. She lowers her arm a bit, brushing a lose strand of hair from her face as she waits for the crowd to die down.::
Amy: “Like I said Tuhoa Valo, this is a new year. That means it is a new beginning and full of new opportunities. I do not know about you, but I personally plan to try and take that opportunity. However, to do so, I have to get passed you this week at Meltdown. I have no delusions that this is going to be easy, and neither should you. We have never met one-on-one, so let me tell you a little about me. I will never give up. I will never quit. I will keep on fighting for as long as I am still able. Why? Because I am simply Amy Zing.”
::As Amy delivers to signature line of “I am simply Amy Zing”, the crowd yells out the “simply Amy Zing” part along with her. She stops speaking for a moment and smiles, looking out to the crowd again. She nods a bit, then turns her attention back to Hannah Storm, who has been standing there with the mic near Amy the whole time.::
Amy: “Tuhao Valo, I will wish you luck at Meltdown because I think it is safe to say both of us are coming to try and win this match. I will see you Monday night in Winnipeg.”
::Rihanna’s “Wait Your Turn” begins to replay over the arena as Amy Zing shakes hands with Hannah Storm and begins to exit the ring.::
Hannah: “Alright! You heard it ladies and gentlemen, this week on Monday Night Mayhem, “The Hong Kong Sensation” Amy Zing takes on “the Finish Phenom” Tuhoa Valo!”
::Amy walks along the apron and stands at the top of the stairs for a moment. She descends down the stairs and, smiling, she high fives a few of the fans at ringisde. Turning away from the ringside barricade, Amy walks up the ramp. She stops a few times to high five some fans or sign something or pose for a picture or such things.::
::“The Hong Kong Sensation” Amy Zing stops at the end of the entrance ramp and turns around. She bows down, touching her toes with her index fingers. Slowly, she rises up with arms forward and index fingers touching. She spreads her arms out to her sides as the crowd cheers for her.::
::Lowering her arms, Amy Zing gives one last wave to the Canadian crowd in the area before going through the curtain and into the backstage area.::
::Amy Zing leans against the counter . Her travel bag is by her jeans-covered legs and low-heeled shoes. Her gym bag, containing her wrestling gear, is over her right shoulder.
