One's scramble
The Sindicate was a family in a family environment. They partied together, they laughed together and they laughed while other people cried, together. They were as American as apple pie with a hint of maple syrup imported from Canada. They were a family to be revered by all even in a nation filled with orphans and miserable bastards.

These were the letters Lester had laid out on the scrabble board. The LeWinter sisters sat at a table across from him and while Kia was hardly surprised by his choice of words the soft spoken Violet was rather appalled by it.
''Are you still sour about what went down at Christmas Chaos? Come on, Lester. It was like three weeks ago it's about time you get your head on straight and let it go.''
''IT'S STILL REAL TO ME DAMN IT!''
Lester cried before he caught himself in the act. He recoiled upon the delivery of his words and shook his head side to side.
''Sorry, Andrew always wanted me to drop that line in a promo of mine. It's a real shame he'll probably never get to see it.''
''How's he doing by the way?'' Violet asked.
''As well as a guy in a goddamned coma could be doing, I guess.'' Lester sighed. ''Last time I heard they wanted to pull the plug on him but his mother wouldn't have any of it. Then again, we're talking about a women who still does his laundry and insists that he wears a helmet while using the internet...''
''Well, back in high school an ex boyfriend of mine did sprain his wrist while watching Jenna Jameson fornicate with a cue cumber...'' Kia noted in a rather timely fashion.
''Alright spare me the fucking details will you?'' Lester groaned. ''Point is, I am a little shaken up about how things have been going as of late and the rest of the Sindicate would too if Terry Marvin wasn’t the chosen one.’’
‘’L-O-Y-A-L-T-Y’’
Violet had laid this word out on the scrabble board with her eyes locked on Lester as she placed each letter down.
‘’Damn, how many points is that worth?’’ Lester asked.
’A lot.’’ Violet nodded. ‘’Lester, it’s what winners like us are made of. You may have lost at Christmas Chaos but the Sindicate remains in control. As long as we are loyal to each other everything else will fall into place.’’
‘’I agree but what if I’m not the weak link here?’’ Lester questioned which garnished subsequent eye rolls from the twins.
‘’I assure you Lester that Terry Marvin is dedicated to our cause. After all you two have been through up until now, I think he’d be rather upset that you’d question him like this.’’ Kia scolded him.
‘’I’m not talking about Terry, I am talking about Felipe.’’ Lester clarified which only made the situation that much more uncomfortable. ‘’You two see how he is around Terry and to make matters worse he hasn’t spoken with me since Christmas Chaos went down. I can’t help but believe that he’s lost all faith in me.’’
‘’Well, I don’t think he’s lost all faith in you just yet.’’ Kia said in between an arrogant tone of laugher. ‘’However, a loss to AC Smith this week would certainly justify a lack of belief in you. I mean, AC Smith and his trash can isn’t exactly thee finest definition of championship material.’’
‘’W-I-N’’
Kia placed the third letter word down on the table and shrugged her shoulders - it wouldn’t score her much points but it was the best she had.
Violet’s eyes narrowed. [color=Violet’I wouldn’t exactly say that. AC Smith does hold a notable victory over CJ Gates, remember?’’

Violet’s eyes narrowed. [color=Violet’I wouldn’t exactly say that. AC Smith does hold a notable victory over CJ Gates, remember?’’
‘’Yeah, well who doesn’t these days.’’ Lester sarcastically chimed in. ‘’Kia is right - if I can’t beat AC Smith then maybe I deserve to be treated like a second rate citizen but until then the only difference between me and Terry Marvin is the twelve pound slab of gold we both have had our names on.’’
’So how could I be of a service to you?’’ Violet asked before she dully noted -
Lester glanced at Kia whom smiled back at him devilishly.
‘’Thanks but no thanks. I got this entire under control.’’ Lester assured the sisters. ‘’Trust me!’’
‘’The last time you said that myself and Terry were drugged - Kia took Andrew’s virginity - Felipe was tied up in a bathroom and nearly was castrated and your best friend was stabbed in the chest and is currently in a friggin’ coma so please - excuse me if I hold any reservations to your claims!’’
’Wait, sex with Andrew!? Does that count?’’ Kia asked scratching her head. ’Oh boy, one hundred and twenty five seconds sure go by rather quick…’’
‘’You were counting?’’
‘’It was that bad?’’
‘’Yes and yes!’’ Kia said shrugging her shoulders. ‘’I guess?’’
‘’Look ladies, I appreciate the concern but maybe I need to talk to Felipe face to face - man to man - to figure all this out. You know… for the Sindicate’s sake?’’
‘’No problem, Les. After all that is our job.’’ Kia flatly noted. Violet nudged her in the arm hard while Level-One quickly took offence to the statement.
‘’Your job?’’ Lester hissed. ‘’What do you mean by your job?’’
Violet laughed uncomfortably as she tried to diffuse the situation. Meanwhile, Kia looked on oblivious to why he was so upset.
‘’What she meant by that is…’’ It is at this point Violet takes a pause. ‘’Our job as friends to cheer another friend up in a time of need!’’
‘’Bullshit.’’ Lester declared. ‘’Felipe DeLoren put you two up to this, didn’t he? He sent you out here to keep me under control while he swoons over Terry, isn’t that right!?’’
‘’Yes.’’
‘’No!’’
Both sisters said with their timing being synchronized exactly on point. Violet closed her eyes and shook her head.
‘’Okay, he did but that’s not why we’re here Lester. We are here because you are the backbone of the Sindicate and we wouldn’t want to be hanging out here and playing scrabble with anyone else.’’
‘’Except Brad Pitt.’’ Kia added.
Lester snarled at the two as he laid his next word down. Each block slammed down with force that shakes the entire board and table.
‘’C-U-N-T-S’’
‘’That’s just un called for!’’ Violet cried.
‘’Who are you calling a cunt!?’’ Kia snapped as she rose to her feet. ‘’I hope that cop kicks the living piss out of you this week and you know how much I HATE cops!’’
‘’She didn’t actually mean that!’’ Violet pleaded. ‘’She really hates cops!’’
‘’Whatever, guys.’’ Lester said before flipping the table over sending the scramble pieces onto the floor. ‘’I’m at a loss for words. Hopefully when you guys are done picking up all these pieces you can still spell the word Sindicate.’’
Lester walked away leaving Violet and Kia LeWinter to clean up the mess he had made - in more ways than one.

A week earlier LIVE! @ Thursday Night Overdrive
Backstage Level-One and Terry Marvin shared the biggest locker room in the building - designated specifically for Sindicate member’s only.
‘’Pretty big announcement by Johnny Rebel out there tonight.’’ Terry Marvin said half impressed as he applied tape to his hands. ‘’I’m sure you’ll jump at the opportunity to eliminate him.’’
‘’I don’t think so Terry - not this year.’’ Lester said resigned to the fact. ‘’This year, it’s going to be all you my friend.’’
’'What?’’ Terry Marvin said with his jaw touching the ground. ‘’Man every year you come out for survive and conquer and hey… second place doesn’t sound too bad does it?’’
‘’Yeah, well it’s a new year Terry…’’ Lester said leaning back in his chair. ‘’It’s the year of change. You know - thee change.’’
He thought about his last encounter with Felipe DeLoren moments after Christmas Chaos when he was defeated by CJ Gates.
‘’Lester, I’m not going to pretend I am not disappointed in the end result last night but it’s not the end for the Sindicate by any means.’’ Felipe bragged. ‘’Terry Marvin has just beat Biggs and he’ll be in the main event at Rasslemania and I expect you to be in his corner supporting him in any way you possibly can.’’
‘’You don’t worry about that.’’ Lester confirmed. ‘’As far as I’m concerned my Rasslemania dreams are still alive, I still have the opportunity to main event with Terry provided I cash my billion dollar case that night.’’
‘’Yeah about that…’’ Felipe said holding a finger up in the air. ‘’I don’t think cashing that in after Terry Marvin has beaten CJ Gates is my definition of a unit working as one.’’
‘’Well, you’re making quite an assumption that CJ Gates actually makes it to Rasslemania in one piece. I can see through to it that he doesn’t. I can make sure he’s out of the picture entirely.’’
Felipe closed his eyes and scratched his head.
‘’Look Lester, I don’t know how exactly I should put this without offending you or stepping on your toes but you lost your opportunity out there tonight. You made a promise that you wouldn’t use that brief case on Terry Marvin and the Sindicate expects that you live up to your word, Lester.’’
‘’I won this brief case fair and square, Felipe.’’ Lester said alarmed as he inched closer to Felipe’s face.
‘’It is an order not a request, Lester.’’ Felipe said standing firm on his grounds. ‘’Also, I would rethink your entry into the survive and conquer match entirely this year.’’
‘’Yeah and why the fuck is that?’’
Felipe pointed at Level-One’s bruised and batter face.
‘’If you can’t beat one man when it counts the most then how do you expect to defeat 99 of them?’’
He snapped out of his recollection and watched Terry Marvin as he propped the undisputed title up onto his shoulder.
‘’Seriously though you should probably consider entering the survive and conquer match this year. I’ll be a marked man out there and the extra help wouldn’t hurt. We could really clean up the ring together.’’
‘’I’ll think about it.’’ He lied. Terry Marvin didn’t know what it was already a done deal. ‘’Regardless, I wish you the best of luck.’’
‘’Luck?’’ Terry Marvin repeated off handily. ‘’You’d be hard pressed to fine any one of those shmucks that stands a better shot of winning this thing than me. And with you out of the picture, I don’t even have to worry about you getting lucky again this year.’’
‘’Hell, ain’t that the truth.’’ Level-One said with a smile on his face. In his hand he held a cellphone with an image on it. It was of a girl - no older then 23.
Her name was Vannah White.
I've had enough of the upsets... now I am just pissed off!
About three weeks ago, I was on the top of the world! The Sindicate had just executed the greatest swerve in pro wrestling history and I was one win away from main eventing Rasslemania for the fourth time in my illustrious career! However, in the span of three weeks this was ALL stolen from me by a low life with two initials for a first name! As a result, I have now been regulated to tussling it out with the likes of AC Smith who would STILL be better served planting drugs on the inner city black youth then inside a wrestling ring with me.
I don't care how many times you've been shot or stabbed you, Piglet! By the time I am finished rolling over your lifeless body like Buckson Gooch does land on a tractor trailer you're going to wish you were still on the streets taking pay offs and stealing drug money! As corrupt as you are piglet, I'm surprised you haven't been given a job backstage! Though, I wouldn't doubt you were on the shortlist for Overdrive General Manager - right behind butt kissing Biggs but I guess neither of you wanted to give up on your dreadful careers. Well, here's hoping I can end it for the both of you!
You know there's only THREE things in the world I hate more than cops. These are in no particular order - rapists, murderers and Biggs. Shit, you can probably throw my ex girlfriend in there right now but she does give a mean blow job... I digress. The point is, I don't like your kind and while wrestling may have been a viable option for you in the past those cool moves you learned at the police academy isn't going to cut it around here. Truth be told, you're just another one of those self absorbed outsiders that have come into the APW with your bolstered resumes in some shit wrestling promotion most of us have never even heard of - I don't even think that resume could score you a job serving frankenstien burgers at a local fast food restaurant.
I mean excuse me for my ignorance but are you not the guy who spent several weeks sedating us with your shitty promotional vids of past matches in some other fruity promotion you used to get your rocks off at? After the first week, I'd hope you'd get the memo that nobody gave a fuck but apparently you are as observant as a four year old in knuckles candy shop... WELL WAKE THE FUCK UP KID - HIS THREE INCHED CHUB IS OUT ON THE CHECK OUT COUNTER!
Goddamn... I knew you'd be a pretty big flop once I had to sit through all that. And I was right. So, you haven't done that bad for yourself - you hold a notable victory over CJ Gates and stand before me as the current APW xtreme champion. While it isn't much it's still something which couldn't be said for several men who unrightfully occupy a spot on their roster. However, it's a flop in an essence because you misled the fans into believing you were something more. You lied to us, dirty piglet.
We all were told look out for AC Smith the former ACW world champion who's bound to take the APW by storm - only to walk outside and find a bright sunny day. Sure, those days are nice. Relaxing. It's real fucking cute! However, it's those harsh storms - a rarity in it's approach - that strikes fear into the hearts men and have everyone underneath it's grey clouds ducking for cover like the cowards they are!
So, even while you hold a recent victory over the current number one contender CJ Gates I treat you as if you were a non threat. Am I supposed to believe the CJ Gates that beat me at my worst is even the same CJ Gates you yourself beat? No, of course not. See, CJ Gates is an inconsistent - non dependable - opportunist scam artist who managed the squirm his way into the Rasslemania main event where he will be obliterated by Terry Marvin provided he shows up prepared and on his A+ game. Period. CJ Gates like you does not have what it takes to beat guys like me and Terry on our good nights - which tends to be 364 days of the year. CJ Gates caught me on a bad night and he needs to consider it a privilege that will NOT be afforded to the likes of you.
Last week Micheal Lively was rewarded with the victory last week and I say rewarded because CJ Gates laid down like he was smooth talked into spreading his legs wide open by Williams D. Williams. Though, a Micheal Lively win was exactly what the APW needed. The APW needed to see how unworthy of a contender he was and Micheal Lively proved just that. Sure, I could've pinned CJ Gates just as easily as I have already done so several times before but that wouldn't prove anything. The outcome of last weeks match really opened up the eyes of many and are now looking at Christmas Chaos in a different light. The point is - don't let the past two weeks give you a false sense of security with a little dash of hope, any chances you stood will be lying flat on it's back as I toss another carcass back into the win column or body count total... which ever you prefer.
Furthermore last week you were on the losing end of a match with Mark Mania. A man whom has played his part in granting me victory in several matches with him. The Mark Mania you lost to last week is the Mark Mania I can be credited with creating. See, he took my words and he held on to them and he used it to motivate himself and reinvent his image and modify his wrestling style. In a sense - it’s as if I already beat you last week! Though if there is anything to take from all that is that you too can use this loss against me as an opportunity to improve and to grow. That’s how good I am. I give boys like you beatings and humiliate them to the point that they will never want to experience that helpless feeling again and work twice as hard as a means to avoid it in the future. Please - spare me the thank you.
As great as Terry Marvin is - I don’t think he instils that into people. Perhaps, it’s because while he is the hottest thing in the now we have seen plenty of men in his situation come and go but nobody has showed the lasting power I have or have repeatedly won the undisputed title year after year and has evolved with the growth of the company. My success didn’t come over night and I am the furthest example you could fine from a flash in the pan. My consistency and my ability to perform at the highest levels of this business night in and night out is why I am held in such high regards! Those who can’t understand this are men whom come out to play on a bi - weekly basis winning matches they should’ve lost but losing matches they should’ve won! These men will only be remembered in the right here unless they can match their hype with some consistency.
At the end of the night when it’s all said and done you’re going to realize the difference between a four time APW Undisputed champion from the schmucks you used to beat up over in that shit hole, ACW. And dare I say by the end of it - you’ll never mention a damn thing you’ve done someplace else again. There’s no way better to show brand superiority then crushing a former world champion like a can and then letting the bookers sort the rest out - struggling to determine where exactly in the lower card they belong. I won’t say you haven’t shown any promise at all but virtually every chance you have received to break out of the pack, you couldn’t capitalize on it. You’re capable of catching CJ Gates on a bad night perhaps but you stood no viable shot against the likes of Terry Marvin and I don’t see why it would be any different for me.
There is not a doubt in my mind you aren’t intimidated by me in the least. No, not because you say so but because as a former piglet cop it’s your job to approach danger with a brave face even if it means risking your life and that’s exactly what you’re doing when you decide to step into the ring with me, AC. The only difference is we are playing in MY world not yours, Piggy. Here - in my world - assault is not only illegal but encouraged and assault with the intent to commit bodily harm is rewarded to the point where they even create a title in its name - a title in which you distastefully choose to call yours.
For someone who appears to have an extensive background in both amateur and professional wrestling it’s slightly disheartening to see that you have sold yourself out like the hooker in the back of your squad car playing with your.. Ahem… baton? After losing to Mark Mania last week, I suppose you’ll be more than content with calling yourself and APW Xtreme champ but if you accomplished anything at Christmas Chaos is that you gave Nick Watson a new lease on life while gladly accepting to wear the chains you helped free him from.
It wasn’t too long ago that I sat down with the APW officials after my loss against CJ Gates where they proceeded to try to shut me up by offering me a match with Watson at the biggest show of the year and while I can’t legally detail these discussions without being sued - the point is the fact that they offered me this match meant that they felt Nick Watson was ready to move UP the ladder in life and perhaps break into the main stream. He had been given a bigger opportunity then you could ever imagine because you got caught holding a title that is resigned to lowest part of the totem pole around here. Between me and you? I rather never call myself a champion a day in my life ever again - if it doesn’t start with the word ‘’Undisputed’’ because now that I have set a golden standard aiming for anything below it can and should be accepted as nothing more then failure.
And I will not fail again.
