Recently
The scene opens up Woodbridge, VA. Marble floors and matching pillars, past through a long hallway filled with doors. The hallway ends with one big doorway and on it a large iron handle used for knocking, behind this doorway is Young Mannie playing a game of chess with Uncle Charlie. The game seems to be at a stand still as Mannie is has made a move that Uncle Charlie can’t impossibly come back from or can’t he?
“Looks like I got you, how about we just call this a game and play again.”
“Now see nephew you think since I gotten that old, I can’t beat you or maybe you think I taught you everything I know. But let me tell you something nephew, Uncle Charlie always has a trick up his sleeve. See I may have taught you everything you know but I never gave up all my knowledge, Now if I taught you anything…It was that The Game is too be Sold and not Told!”
Just as Mannie nods in agreement, Uncle Charlie surprises Mannie with his knight and takes checkmate. Mannie laughs because he didn’t see it coming and Uncle Charlie shrugs as if was nothing. They stop playing as Uncle Charlie can tell there is something on Mannie’s mind.
“What’s wrong nephew? Now before you say nothing, I know you so just tell me.”
“Well it’s just that, I don’t want to be associated with my hi-jinx of the past. I want to more than what I have been known for, I want truly want to be the “Face” of APW. The only way this can happen is if I step it up, I have to display everything I been bragging about since my suspension. I have to bring that difference and change to APW. The only way I can do is that is by backing up my words with real motions. I have to show them all what I mean.”
“Well I’m with you nephew, Let’s do it.”
“Look Uncle I love you in all but I can’t be associated with the pimping, I mean it’s going to reflect on what I’m trying to build. I just can have all the negativity from it.”
“Well Mannie if you feel that way, I will do whatever you need me too. Listen if it means less cursing, well damn it I can learn. If I have to stop this pimping cold turkey I will, I will no longer use my skills for the streets but I will in-turn use in the world of wrestling. I mean with my knowledge of promotion & business accounting. We can take this company by storm.”
“Now that’s sound like a plan Uncle, Now I need know something?”
“Now what nephew?”
“I just need to know how the hell you did you beat me.”
“Haha oh that…Well nephew…A true player never tell”
The scene fades as Mannie collects their numbers and heads back to his car and onward too his hotel
The scene opens as “The Main Attraction” along with Uncle Charlie are standing in the front yard of his new Virginian estate, Enjoying the breeze and open space. Mannie scales the area as Uncle Charlie stands proudly. Mannie pauses as gazes into the video camera that’s set across from him, Mannie smiles before starting his opening statement.
“APW oh how I missed thee! It’s funny you know how time plays a factor in someone’s changing themselves, I mean having to sit home idly and watch other Megastar’s perform was hurtful and humbling. See while others like Jason Kash love the time off and losing a daily handle on their craft and what’s really important, I was on the other hand gaining more knowledge and stepping up my game. I was at home watching tapes and hitting the gym, I refused to let that suspension be the reason I fall off in APW. See now I’m back and I’m better than ever. Now while I made my return to APW last year it was and has been an uphill battle. It seems every time I take 10 steps up, I get knocked 5 ones back. It’s not easy returning to a whole new landscape and trying to fit in, And that’s exactly what I tried to do. I tried to be everyone’s friend, and that was my problem. I was trying to do the right things and make everyone happy, But what did it get me? It got my ex-girlfriend nearly crippled, Countless lost title shots, and being stuck on the C-Brand.”
“Right nephew, you should’ve stopped a long time ago but that’s why I am here to steer you back on track. See trying to make everyone happy was the problem, now it’s about making you happy and getting everyone on board. See “The Main Attraction” is not going to cater to any of you anymore, “The Main Attraction” is going to help everyone of your realize that it’s time to change things. It’s time to stop buying into what APW been feeding and starting taking a daily dose of the truth. See my nephew, is the only reason to watch to tune in APW anymore. My nephew is the only reason to still have hope in the product of wrestling.”
“Right Uncle Charlie, see the wrestling product nowadays is atrocious, It’s nothing violence, over-sexual images, and cheesy characters. I really took a second the other day and I said myself, OMG. See that’s slang for “Oh My Gosh”. I said OMG is this what my life & love has been degraded too? I can’t imagine it going on for another 10 years based on what it’s become. So that’s when it hit, I knew I had to take that front-seat and drive APW of out the hole it dug itself in. APW needed me and I was more than happy to respond, See APW right now you’re not seeing the big picture but trust and believe you will.”
“The big picture my nephew is referring to is going to take a lot of work but it’s going to be done, So where exactly do you start on such a strenuous task?”
“I’m glad you asked Uncle Charlie! You see the first place I need to start is with Meltdown it’s self, See it’s too many new faces. There are so many useless people coming and going and taking up valuable TV time and title shots. The time of every viewer is being wasted, as long as mines. So we have to cut off the dead weight. Now some of your are thing Hmmm “Main Attraction” who is the dead weight your talking about? Well I’m glad you asked! It’s people like Niobe Martin, Donald Deruty, and especially you Amy Zing. You’re not worth the TV time, the spots on the cards, or ever good enough to stay on the rosters. But the fact you all are still here befalls me. Now going back a little bit on what I was saying about Characters, speaking of which…I have to tag with someone named Robina Hood?”
"Who the hell is that?"
“Okay so I guess anyone can now put on leggings, have a flat chest, and aim arrows can be a pro-wrestler. Prime example people, I don’t want to and I can’t make this up. People like Robina Hood will never fit in nor will they ever really be accepted. You tend to have a sense of entitlement, You can’t get the job done in other career fields or you done all you could, So you turn on the TV one day and land on APW. You start talking to yourself and say things like “Hey I can do that!” and “That’s easy”, That’s fake” Well guess what? It’s not, You think because you had a few matches you’re hot? No Robina, you’re going to be In the ring with a real wrestler who could and will embarrass you. I will not apologize for taking my craft seriously and honestly if you keep showing that disrespect of it like you been doing lately, I will make sure it’s the last time you near a ring let along thinking of one. APW is not a joke or a last minute career choice, You better wise up…Once I’m in that ring, I will do what I’m known for that’s being “The Main Attraction” I will entertain everyone so damn much, that it will take on the rollercoaster of their lives and just before the match ends; I will bring everyone right back down with a victory.”
“Amy Zing, I think you got the point last week. You bit off more than you could chew and you ended up falling out of the spotlight. So I suggest you stay there before we put you of the sport for good. Robina Hood I suggest you do your research before you make assumptions. I can’t stress how you out of your league you are, “The Main Attraction” is one of the best period and you’re just a spectator who gets a ringside seat, So do me favor and take a seat. I’m a tell you this though, double crossing my nephew is not in your best interest, See if you was to do a thing like that…I would have no choice but to make an example of you, And I don’ think you would like that very much. So I suggest Robina that you tread softly. Now as for Niobe you ain’t been a threat and you will not interfere in any of affairs so be a doll and don’t even show up, it’s not like anyone would care or miss you. I hope when “The Main Attraction” outshines you only like he can, you will be humble enough to graciously kiss his feet, rub his back, and hold his jockstrap because he will own you from bell to bell. So it’s only right he would have you under his will after doing so, maybe after you done with his tasks, I will have plenty more for you to do for myself as well. Remember Niobe you can fight, scratch, and claw but it won’t make a difference. When “The Main Attraction” wrestles with you…You might as well lay flat on your back because he will just be toying with you, I can guess how you feel knowing that you have to fight him. If I were you I would beg him for mercy, I would ask him to take it easy on me, now that’s just me. I know how much you want to prove yourself but you choose the wrong person to do it against because I promise you, this man is going out victorious on Monday. So here’s what I want you to do, Go to APW.com check the archives, hell go to Youtube, it doesn’t matter find all the matches you can and prepare yourself for an athlete like no other. “The Main Attraction” is coming Niobe…So my last bit of advice is “Prepare for the best.”
Scene fades as “The Main Attraction” and Uncle Charlie begin to laugh as they head back towards to the high.
