::It was one of the most unusual friendships in the now-defunct American Championship Wrestling organization. It started when Amy Zing, who was making her debut, offered “Gothic Hot” Dahlia, the reigning ACW Women’s Champion and her tag team partner for her debut match, her hand in friendship. It was unexpected as Amy was new and Dahlia was going through a trouble timed, forced to serve the company‘s top heel, Snake, to try and protect her boyfriend, Carnage. Dahlia somewhat shyly and awkwardly responded with a half eaten box of cookies and a stuffed bear. From that, the friendship was born. To this day, Amy Zing still owns that stuffed bear. It is the same stuffed bear that has been seen on her bed.::
::It was during the middle of 2011 when Dahlia started up an organization that helps young victims of sexual abuse with counseling and various other means of aid. The mission was a personal issue for Dahlia. One of the first people to join and start making appearances for the organization was her friend, current APW Meltdown megastar, “the Hong Kong Sensation” Amy Zing.::
::Though never a victim herself, Amy began appearing at these events to help support her friend’s cause and because she herself believes in the cause. It is an organization she still makes appearances for.::
::One such appearance is in Denver, Colorado, where “the Hong Kong Sensation” is sitting in a green room before her appearance. Her hair is down. She is dressed in jeans and a nice blouse. The room is nice with two wooden couches with green cushions and a black coffee table that looks to be mahogany or something similar in color and a small mini-fridge. A bowl of chips, a bowl of M&Ms, and a veggie platter with dip sitting on the table.::
“Last week at Meltdown was rather…therapeutic.”
::She smiles a bit, looking very satisfied by her actions.::
“I had a good back and forth, competitive match with Warren Peace that I was able to somehow win with a Fenghuang Kick out of nowhere. But the best part was just getting to beat the bloody hell out of Uncle Charlie.”
“I am, however, surprised that everyone is acting like it was an unprovoked attack with no warning at all.”
::She looks to be a little confused and somewhat frustrated, like she really didn’t expect her actions to be met with such surprise. The frustration is audible in her voice. She sets the water bottle down.::
“I mean honestly, I was not out in the middle of a field digging graves, planting markers and shedding my blood on them just for exercise and theatricality of it all. I warned you, Young Mannie, and your Uncle Charlie that I would be coming for payback. You two insulted me, mocked my dream, told me to become a whore, attacked me, threw money at me and then attacked me again. What did you think was going to happen? Did you think your words and actions would spark an epiphany, and that I would into Alexander Duvall’s office right after Meltdown, tell him you were right and quit? Was I to just shrug it all off and accept what happened with gentle good humor? How were my words about revenge and restoring my honor, my digging of graves and that I cut my hand open on a sword, thus bleeding on the graves, not a clue that I would retaliate?”
“Honestly Mannie? What did you expect to happen?"
::She sighs and shakes her head.::
“So your justification for attacking me has changed from your girlfriend being attacked, which somehow, despite my not being in the APW at the time is my fault, to hating what I stand for?”
::She runs her hands through her hair, leaning her head back as she does so and sighs out of frustration again.::
“You realize that only makes just a bit more sense than your previous reasoning? Serious, Mannie, pick a story and stick with it.”
::Her tone changes as she speaks. She sounds angry and insulted. She gets up off the couch and starts to pace around the room, looking rather exasperated as she does so.::
“Honestly, you do not even know me, so how exactly can you judge my morals and ethics? What exactly is it I stand for that you hate?”
“Is it that I was born in China, legally moved to the United States and earned my US citizenship, thus making me a legal citizen of the United States of America who can vote, hold public office and serve jury duty? I really find myself unable to comprehend just how and why you somehow seem unable to understand the fact that China and Japan are two different countries. It shouldn’t be that hard to understand.”
“Was there something I did in my early career when I started in Mexico, Canada and various regions of the United States?”
“Maybe you don’t like that I enjoy being on Meltdown, because while the leadership of Alexander Duvall and Sienna Harrison may be questionable, it is something of a melting pot. Meltdown is something of a revolving door, with new talent constantly coming in. It is seeing the revival of the tag team division and serves as a launching point for the rest of the APW. It is not the inferior brand.”
“I believe in honor, sportsmanship, hard work, humility, dedication and never giving up.”
“I do charity work for my friend Dahlia’s charity to help victims of sexual abuse, and other such organizations. I support anti-drug programs, literacy programs, the Salvation Army, anti-bullying campaigns, the Jimmy Fund, the World Wildlife Fund, charities that feed, educate, clothe and provide AIDS medication for those in Africa that need them, the Make a Wish Foundation, and St Jude’s Children‘s Hospital either by making appearances for them or with money.”
::She turns to face the camera, looking into it, as if looking at Young Mannie face-to-face.::
“So which of my values or causes that I support so offends you Young Mannie?!”
::“The Hong Kong Sensation” takes a seat back on the couch a bit harder than she should and exhales in frustration.::
"I honestly did not get it. I mean it just made absolutely no sense at all to me.”
::She leans her head back.::
“Then I actually started thinking about it.”
::She leans her head down and smiles, looking rather amused. It is almost scary how cold her voice sounds, like she really does not care at all about Young Mannie, which she probably does not.::
“I think what you hate most about me is that I literally just walked into the APW, with no real hype, and the people completely embraced me and cheered for me. Here you are, “the Main Attraction” and “the best athlete in the APW period” and no one is cheering. However, as soon as I walked in, they were cheering and it just vexes you. I may not be as good a wrestler as you, but the fans like me more because I respect them and appreciate them. They know everything I do, I do for myself and for them. You do this just for you and don‘t care about them. Even if you win, they will not cheer you or respect you. I could lose every match I wrestle this year and they will still cheer for me. That digs at you like a knife.”
::The coldness leaves her voice, and she starts to sound like the Amy Zing the fans know and love, but with a bit of intensity in her voice.::
“My fans know how much I care about them. They know I will never give up on my goals, myself and them. They know I will never quit as long as I could fight. And that is something I sense goes for you as well, Niobe Martin, as well.”
::Amy pauses for a moment and picks up the water bottle. She takes a drink from the bottle, sitting there in thought for a moment. The intensity that was audible in her voice disappears. Her voice sounds like it usual does, that polite, calm way of speaking she has.::
“It’s almost ironic your nickname is “Nightmare” because it seems like that is what APW is turning into for you. I have no idea what you did to so anger Sienna Harrison, but clearly you did it well as she does not seem particularly fond of you and she decided to use Robina Hood as her weapon. Not sure if I should wish you luck on being in APW or feel sorry because our assistant general manager dislikes you. It’s a bit of a conundrum.”
::She shrugs a bit and smiles. There is a bit of excitement in her eyes and a bit of it in her voice. It is the eagerness of facing a new challenge.::
“But honestly, I don’t think the Sienna Harrison’s personal issues with you or her need for Robina Hood to try and take you out are going to detour you from trying to make it in the APW. No, you strike me as a fighter, someone who is not willing to give up on her goals and her dreams because of the hardships she faces. If you were, you’d have been out the door after that unfair and uncalled for handicap match last week. But no, you went to the ring with the odds against you, and fought and nearly won. I respect that a lot.”
“Truth be told, I was cheering for you in the back. I thought you had it more than a few times that night. Still, I have to admire the effort you put forth. Yeah, sure, you lost the match. Given it was a handicap match, a loss was not exactly an unexpected outcome. However, you didn’t lay down and accept the inevitable. You went out there and fought. You still tried to win despite the odds.”
“I am definitely looking forward to getting into the ring with you Niobe. We both came up in somewhat similar circles in California. Your reputation precedes you Niobe. However, as important as that was, it has been what I have seen in your last two matches that really make me want to face you. You lost to Robina Hood and then to Robina Hood and Young Mannie, but it was the effort you put out that impressed me more. You’re a fighter. I respect that. I like that. It is an admirable quality in a competitor.”
“Now, usually I follow that with saying something like just because I respect your ability does not mean I will take it easy on you in the ring. However, this is a different situation Niobe. This is a Beat the Clock challenge. So it is not so much about whether or not you can win, but about how fast you can do it.”
::Amy pause a bit, looking downward and off to the side a bit as if confused or in thought over some difficult problem.::
“Does anyone else find it odd our match is the only Beat the Clock challenge match that is not just a one-on-one match? I do. It just seems rather odd to me.”
::She shrugs and looks up again. She picks up a celery slice and dips it and then eats it. She rubs the back of her neck a little, then lowers her hand.::
“That however is not the point. No, see I find myself torn in this match. On one hand, I would love to somehow win this match with the best time and go on to face Logan Alexander at Survive and Conquer. I don’t see it happening though. I am not saying I can’t do it. Nor am I saying neither of you can either. Winning a one-on-one Beat the Clock with the best time is hard enough. But this is a triple threat match, which means there’s someone else to break a pin or submission. So yes, while any three of us can get the victory, I doubt it will be in the best time.”
“We have the bad luck of being in the middle of the night, as well as a triple threat match. The triple threat match is not an easy match to win as usually when you think you have the victory, the other person involved breaks up the pin or submission. Now granted, they should because not doing would definitely be counter-productive to winning. But that does not help in a Beat the Clock Challenge. Even if we somehow manage to get the best time, there are two more matches after, which are both one-on-one matches.”
::Amy smiles a bit, looking just a bit excited.::
“Still, I have to admit, I like the challenge. It will definitely be an interesting night.”
::Once again, Amy takes a drink from the bottle. She loses that look of excitement. Looking as if she is in thought. She runs her free hand through her long hair.::
“I find myself sort of conflicted in this match, I really do. It would be so easy to just forget about trying to beat the clock, get the best time and just spend the match beating you up Young Mannie. I am almost certain I could talk Niobe Martin into joining the assault and make it some sort of a handicap match. However, I cannot deny that the chance to earn a title opportunity at Survive and Conquer is tempting. I most certainly want another chance to become North American Champion. Though, truth be told, it is probably fair to say everyone on Meltdown wants that opportunity. Regardless, it will only go to one.”
::There is an intensity in her eyes and in her voice, a determination that has seemingly defined her career. Through every lose, every challenge, every obstacle, she remains determined and unwilling to give up.::
“Now while only one of us may be able to win, and possibly beat the clock, I think Niobe and I both agree that neither of want it to be you Mannie. I am going to try and prevent you from winning Young Mannie. Whether or not Niobe or I manage to win or even beat the clock is not the issue. Neither of us want to see you win, and I will make sure it doesn’t happen. Then again, considering you have spent the last two weeks pulling things from your ass, a victory up there would not be so surprising.”
“But even if you manage to win Mannie, I really don’t see you beating the clock. I did not just lay down and die after you attacked me twice. I am damn sure as bloody hell not going to do so this time. No Mannie, I am going to fight. Each time you knock me down Mannie, I am going to get back up.”
“Niobe, the same goes for you. I may have respect for your abilities and really want to face you, but I really want to kick Young Mannie’s head off. It would be in your best interest to just stay out of my way. Or, better yet, just help me accomplish that goal, then you and I can square off.”
::She gets up off the couch, pacing around the room a bit.::
“This is not about showing the world that I am simply Amy Zing. This is not the North American Championship title shot. This is not even about beating some sort of clock. This is not about Mannie’s insecurity over the fans not cheering him or even Niobe proving she’s a nightmare. What this is, at least for me, is a shot to get you, Young Mannie, in the ring and kick your stupid, arrogant, smug head off. This is all about a shot at revenge.”
“All three of us I think want it. Niobe probably wants to avenge her loss to Hood and Mannie. Mannie, I’m fairly certain you want a chance to get back at me for your poor dear Uncle Charlie who I laid out last week. You know I want to get my revenge. I fully intend to take advantage of this opportunity and take it.”
::“The Hong Kong Sensation” smiles. It is not her usually friendly, happy smile. It is a cold, almost cruel smile. That same look is in her eyes. That coldness returns to her voice as she speaks. It is actually a little disturbing, because it is so unlike her.::
“Do you want to know the best part about it Young Mannie? When either I or Niobe Martin get that revenge, if I manage to kick your stupid, smug head off be it a roundhouse or even the Fenghuang Kick, or if Niobe manages to hit some high risk move and pins you, each and every person in attendance in the Confederation Arena in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and watching Meltdown all around the world will be cheering for it. They will be cheering for me, not you.”
::There is a knock on the door. Amy closes her eyes and takes a deep breath, exhaling slowly to calm herself. When she opens her eyes, it is as if she is back to normal. There is another knock on the door.::
Amy: “Come in.”
::A young male gofer sticks his head in. He looks to be in his early twenties, with dark hair, wearing a headset.::
Attendant: “Miss? Five seconds until they are ready for you.”
Amy: “Thanks, I’ll be right there.”
::The gofer closes the door behind him. Amy turns to the camera.::
Amy: “Mannie, Niobe, good luck at Meltdown. Especially you Mannie, because you are certainly going to need it most of all. See you both there.”
::Amy takes another drink of water and then sets the bottle down on the coffee table and opens the door. The door closes behind her as the scene fades to black.::
::It was during the middle of 2011 when Dahlia started up an organization that helps young victims of sexual abuse with counseling and various other means of aid.
