OOC: Sorry guys, but I just haven’t been myself lately and have been dealing with writer’s block. Hopefully this will be my last subpar RP for a while. I really need to get out of this funk that I am in.

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
{{The scene opens to the back patio of Anthony Bailey’s townhouse in St. Augustine, FL. Bailey, wearing a red and black Dying Breed T-shirt and black jeans, is seen slowly pacing back and forth holding a small stack of notecards. He is practicing a speech in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. that he is scheduled to deliver at a local high school later on today. Camera time on APW television for the last year didn’t make the task of public speaking seem too nerve-racking, but Bailey was just nervous about verbally doing the iconic figure of Dr. King justice. He glances at his notecards and begins to speak.}}
Anthony Bailey: Every year at this time of the month of January, millions of people across the nation gather to celebrate the life of a man who was limited, as we all are, but a man who was simultaneously unrestricted. They gather to celebrate the life of a man whose audible voice ceased to heard as of April 4, 1968 but whose invisible inflection lives on the inside of each of us today. Martin, who was born Michael King, Jr. on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, GA, had a dream and the measure of a man is what is he willing to endure to see that dream become a reality? That man must be relentless and his dream must be substantial. What else could possibly drive him to see it come to fruition? The bigger the dream, the more dedication it requires. Dr. King is no longer here with us in the physical form, but that doesn’t mean that he left this life with a failed dream.
Though I am light years off from doing so, I aim to imitate the commitment of Dr. King. I want to be committed to not only APW, The Dying Breed, and my girlfriend Tasha; I want to be committed in every area of my life. Now I know that Dr. King wasn’t a perfect man but his movement and what he stood for was bigger than his own modest inadequacies.
Dr. King allegedly was known for having many extramarital affairs throughout his lifetime.
I too have made mistakes, but by God’s grace, my passion and my commitment to the business of professional wrestling and to the fans that steadily support me will outshine every single deficiency on my part. I’m looking to purposefully display my measure as a man Monday night on Meltdown against M&M along with J-Hop in the city of Edmonton. Sadly, the odds are against The Dying Breed for once. With only one single loss as a tag team, I can honestly say that I haven’t quite been myself lately and it’s starting to show. It’s showing up in the gym during my training sessions and it’s even showing up here at home. Tasha has caught wind of it like I have. I can’t speak for J-Hop, though we are unified and are on the same page, because he is his own man but I can speak for me. I can’t hone in on exactly what the issue is though. I’m unsure whether or not it’s the gruesome traveling schedule of going back and forth between home, England, and Canada, or what, but I shouldn’t be so worried. A year into this business, I have experienced similar situations before…
I highly respect Logan Alexander and Aubrey J. Parker for who they are and what they have done, but do they really deserve to be the heirs to our Tag Titles? What makes them entitled for this coveted position over any other team on the APW roster?
{{Bailey pauses for a brief moment to add a bit of a dramatic effect.}}
That’s pretty much a rhetorical question since I am well aware of them being the official number one contenders for the Titles in the first place, but I dunno…something is off about them, especially you Aubrey. You take the “score a win by any means necessary” approach to a whole new level. Using a pawn like Shane Borderland or some other menacing individual looking to add an extra five minutes to their departing fifteen minutes of fame is low. Strategic, because it worked, but still low nevertheless. And as you said last week Logan, may the better team win on Meltdown. The Dying Breed has proven to be one of the best teams in APW in quite some time and we’re not saying we’re better than you two, but I know for a fact that we have what it takes to go toe to toe with you both until the death of us. And that’s a promise that can never be broken my friend…see you Monday night…
{{The scene slowly fades to black as Bailey continues to rehearse his speech.}}
