This is shamelessly stolen from the EFK boards, but I thought I'd try and get something similar started here.
It's simple, just write a few sentences about the last film you watched (cinema, on tv, dvd, whatever).
The Human Centipede
This was recommended by a an old student of mine about 3 years ago. I noticed it was on SyFy last night so I Sky+ it. Utterly terrible movie. Awful concept, plot as thin as that cheap ham supermarkets sell, a complete lack of suspense or tension from a horror movie, acting performances that give you absolutely no reason to have sympathy with the characters - who are so superficially portrayed anyway, and just fodder for abuse. The villain was performed okay, but the corny links to Nazism were cringing. The only standout moment in the film was the shit-eating scene, but even that was tamer than I expected. Why this film was commissioned is anyone's guess.

Les Miserables
I fully expected to hate this movie and after the first 30 minutes I thought my expectations would come true, but to my surprise the movie finally hooked me in. What I expected to be a movie where a bunch of people sang about lovey doves garbage, turned out to be a movie where people sand about retribution, revolution, and revenge. The musical concept where all the movie's dialogue is in song is a strange one to me, but I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Should that make me feel like less of a man?

Sucker Punch
From the very start of the movie I could tell it was going to be a lot darker to the movies I'm used to watching (seeing as how my favorites include, but are not limited to, The Waterboy and Finding Nemo...). It really drew me in, however, and the writing for it was brilliant. It really took a lot of thought to capture the full idea behind the plot in which the main character is sent to an insane asylum because of her abusive father, who bribes the guy in charge to call in a doctor for a lobotomy. She retreats into a fantasy world in which the asylum is a brothel, and it really goes in depth about how she's such a significant part of the plot, but it transitions into even more alternate realities through her imagination and she becomes some sort of ninja warrior with a sword and a few SMGs (sub-machine guns, not Sarah Michelle Gellar...). The fight scenes feature some rather impressive special effects, and the ending was definitely a shocker for me. Overall, a great movie, but still one of those that bothers me just a little bit mentally... Would I watch it again? Yeah. Emily Browning is f*cking gorgeous, as are her co-stars Abbie Cornish, Jena Malone, Jamie Chung, and Vanessa Hudgens.

Skyfall.
Aside from being a 007 fan, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Extremely entertaining from beginning to end. I can't talk about without spoiling it, so for those who haven't seen it yet, I recommend that you do. For those who have, you know how good of a movie it is.

Gangster Squad
Pretty good movie. Josh Brolin is totally believable and likeable as the lead cop, but the ensemble cast makes the movie, especially the character modeled after an Old West gunfighter. For an intense movie, it's also got some laughs scattered around.
I wasn't expecting to totally buy Sean Penn as Mickey Cohen, the mob boss from Chicago who's perilously close to taking over Los Angeles. Admittedly, for the first hour or so, I wasn't completely sold. Without giving too much away, though, a scene near the end of the movie makes the previous hour and a half of not totally buying it worth it.
All in all, a fun movie, good cast, and good action.
***1/2 out of five stars.
