::Monday Night Meltdown's tour of Canada continues as it makes its way to Rasslemania in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This week, Meltdown stops in Quebec, Canada at the Quebec City arena::
::Inside the Quebec City Arena, Meltdown is hours away. The ring and set have been built. The lighting and pyrotechnics are all in place. Except for wrestlers, APW personnel, arena staff and police, the building is empty.::
::Backstage is alive with last minute preparations. Outside one of the locker rooms, Lui Zhao is outside on his phone. Inside the locker room is Amy Zing. Even though she does not have a contract, and yet somehow has a match, and even though Monday Night Meltdown is hours away, she is already dressed to compete. Her wrestling attire consisting of boots, knee pads and a backless outfit comes up from the V-shaped back, up over her chest and around her neck, similar to Kitana/Jade/Melina in Mortal Kombat. The ribbon she wears in her hair is in her hands.::
::She is seated in a chair in the locker room. Unlike her usual prematch ritual, she is not reading or trying to meditate. She is tapping her foot on the floor, looking off to the side and leaning forward in the chair.::
“There are two questions everyone has been asking me for the past week. It is all I have been hearing from people.”
“The first question they all ask me is why I attacked Nathaniel Havok at Monday Night Meltdown?”
“The second question is why would I even try to rejoin Action Packed Wrestling and be part of Monday Night Meltdown again?”
“Those are fair questions. They are not really the most important questions surrounding me if you think about it, but they are still good questions to ask.”
::She fiddles with the ribbon in her hands.::
“Now I will admit that it seems only the fans have embraced me since I came here. I find myself alone with no real friends in the locker room and someone has stolen my catchphrase, which is really a bit vexing, but I have my fans. I have hardly had the best relationship with Sienna Harrison, and personally do not feel I will lose any sleep at all if she and Alexander Duvall lose their jobs. And personally, I would love to just kick Sienna Harrison’s head clean off. I mean of all the stupid moves, they allow the only champion on Meltdown to be drafted. That is just stupid. I mean really now? How the bloody hell is that good for business? And yes, there have been all the issues with Young Mannie, but still! I am not to about to just walk away when I still have things to attend to. That’s not who I am. That is not what I do.”
::Amy closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. She exhales slowly, trying to calm herself down after just starting to ramble. She opens her eyes and moves her head towards the camera.::
“I still have a score to settle with Young Mannie and I will be damned if I am going to let anyone else be the one to take him out. All I need is one chance where Sienna isn’t trying to protect him by sending Kaylyn to the ring or her constant need to protect him, thus really sort of leading to believe that there is something rather inappropriate going on between the two of them with her constant need to protect him. No, I am taking the golden boy down. I don’t care if I beat him for the title or not, as long as I get to be the one to kick his smug, stupid head off and get him off Meltdown.”
“And that is also why I attacked Nathaniel Havok last week at Meltdown. He was going to announce that he is somehow getting another title shot at the North American Championship after so many attempts and so many failures. He couldn’t get it done with the mask on as Tuhao Valo, and he had several shots without any outside interference. I doubt not wearing the mask will somehow make him exponential better. Young Mannie is mine. I will finish what he started as soon as Harrison stops protecting her boytoy. I would have beaten him three weeks ago if Kaylyn hadn’t interfered.”
::She catches herself, looking a bit sheepish like she said something wrong and quickly holds up her hands, like she is trying to block something or ward something off.::
“I am not trying to make excuses. I mean I know that is what it sounds like. I am just saying.”
::She lowerws her hands. There is a determination in her voice and in her eyes, like she has a goal she needs to achieve.::
“I will get another opportunity at Mannie, I know I will. The next time, and there will be a next one, win, lose or draw, I am taking his head off. So Havok, I am not going to apologize. I am just letting you Mannie is mine. My attacking you at Meltdown was not personal, only business. What I am going to do to Mannie, now that will indeed be personal.”
::She sits back in the chair, resting her hands on her legs. The ribbon is in her left hand. She sighs and looks upwards to the ceiling.::
“But there are a bigger questions I think than why I came back to Action Packed Wrestling and Monday Night Meltdown or why I attacked Nathaniel Havok. Granted, they are valid questions and they should be asked, and I should try to answer them.”
“Am I ready to comeback after what happened?”
“Can I overcome what has happened and focus on what I need to do in order to move on with my life and my career?”
“Can I still prove to everyone that I am simply Amy Zing?”
::She runs her right hand through her hair and sighs again.::
“Those are the more important questions. Those are the questions I feel I need to focus on. It is those questions that I feel deep down inside, I need to answer. I know my fans have been asking them and more. More than I need to answer all the questions they have for them, I need to answer them for myself.”
::Amy leans forward. She rests her head in her hands.::
“I did crash and burn and like a phoenix I have risen from the ashes to be reborn. I am going to make my return to the APW and to Monday Night Meltdown and one more time I am going to soar. This time however, I am going to do my best to soar higher than I have before.”
::She looks up, running her hands through her hair. There is a confidence in her voice.::
“That soaring to the top will start this week. I am going to meet Sienna Harrison or Alexander Duvall, whichever one of them shows up, out in the middle of the ring and sign my contract. Then, it is going to be phoenix versus Phoenix as I face Cid Phoenix.”
::Bringing her hands together, she rests her chin on them, looking forward.::
“Cid Phoenix, you and I have met before, remember? Now granted, it was in that six-person tag team match at Struggle for Supremacy, but that still has to count for something. While my team won and I scored the pinfall, it was not on you. I suppose technically, that means I have not actually beaten you.”
::She sits up ad bit and shrugs.::
“I mean, yes, the tag team match counts as a victory, but it’s not really a win over you, is it now? I don’t really know if that is making any sense. I mean, I have the tag team win, but I didn’t pin you, so it counts as a win, but not actual proof I can beat you.”
“Now you have had a fantastic career in this business, certainly a lot more successful than mine has been so far. You have even had a few good runs here in Action Packed Wrestling, but have yet to capture championship glory. Like a phoenix, you burn bright for awhile, vanish and return. Cid Phoenix, you are a legend in this business and I respect you.”
“I am looking forward to this match. This is the kind of match I love to wrestle. This is a match with nothing on the line, no reason for Harrison to get involved because she is protecting my opponent or anything. It is just some young talent stepping into the ring with a legend and the two of them wrestling to the best of their ability.”
::The woman nicknamed “the Hong Kong Sensation” smiles in anticipation of what is to come. She seems excited for this match, for tonight.::
“I have to admit, Cid Phoenix, that I am a big fan of yours. I’ve watched a lot of what you have done in wrestling and even here in Action Packed Wrestling and you can definitely deliver. I was honored to wrestle you at Struggle for Supremacy. But this match, a one-on-one match with a legend is just well…more, I guess.”
“This match? Well this match is just really bloody fantastic. I mean if I lose, then at the very least, I have learned something from a legendary wrestler. If I win, then I’ve beaten someone like you, and that is something worth doing.”
“That being said, Cid Phoenix, I have every intention of beating you at Monday Night Meltdown. Yes, I have admitted I respect you and I am a fan. However, I see neither of those as reasons to go easy in the ring or hold anything back. That’s not who I am. That’s not how I like to do things.”
::She takes a deep breath and closes her eyes. Amy takes the ribbon in her hand, which is usually around her arm during her entrance and puts it behind her head. She takes her hair and ties the ribbon around it, into the ponytail she usually wrestles with. She pulls the ribbon tight.::
“So, with that in mind, I want you to understand that I have every intention of going out to that ring and giving you everything I have in this match. I have every intention of trying to win this match. This phoenix has already crashed and burned. At Monday Night Meltdown, she is going to be reborn and she is going to try to prove she is as good as she has always been, if not better.”
::Opening her eyes, Amy Zing gets to her feet, standing as tall and as proud as someone of her short height can. She clenches her hands into fists. There is a determination in her voice and in her eyes, as well as a passion.::
“But Cid Phoenix, it all starts this week at Monday Night Meltdown. I am ready to comeback. I am ready to step back into the ring and do what I do. Now I am more than willing to put what has happened behind me as soon as I get the chance to settle things with the so-called “Main Attraction” Young Mannie and Sienna Harrison, but those are moments I can wait for.”
“However, that last question is something a little more difficult to answer. I cannot just stand here and say that I am going to guarantee that I am still simply Amy Zing. All I can say is that each and every time I step into the ring, I am going to go out there, give it everything I have and try to prove that I am simply Amy Zing.”
“What that means is that I will never quit or give up, regardless of the odds. It means that I will keep fighting until I simply cannot get up anymore. It means I will step into the ring each time I have to with the goal of doing the best I can to win. It means taking risks and putting it all on the line to give the fans a show worth seeing, to give them a memory, a night that they will never forget, because you know full well that you, Action Packed Wrestling and Monday Night Meltdown are nothing without those people filling the arena and watching at home. It means trying to wrestle with honor, sportsmanship and passion. It means trying to treat your opponents with respect, even if they will not, although there are certain times exceptions can be made. And to me, it means everything.”
::Amy takes a deep breath and exhales slowly to calm herself.::
“That is not just some stupid belief system I have because I’m some idealistic fool. It is not something I preach to try and get the fans or people to like me. It is what I truly and honestly believe in. Now maybe I am the only one who does hold to that mindset, but so be it.”
"It is the same with those words, “I am simply Amy Zing”. It is not just something I say because I think it would look great on a t-shirt and would make me money because people will buy it. Now I admit, it has been on a few t-shirts made with my likeness or quotes and I will also admit those shirts have made money. That, however, is not the point. Those words are like a mantra. It is a mindset. It is something I say because it is a goal. Each night I go out there, I try to prove that is not just boasting. I try to prove that those words are true each time I go out into the ring.”
::She lowers her hand, looking back up to the ceiling. It is as if she is looking towards the heavens, hoping they will favor her.::
“At Monday Night Meltdown, I am going to that ring to try and prove it again. As I said, I do respect you Cid Phoenix, but, as I also said, that does not mean I am going to hold back or take it easy out there. In fact, it means the opposite. I am going to that ring to win. I will keep getting back to my feet until I cannot stand. I am going to fight until I can’t fight anymore.”
::She looks back down from the ceiling and into the camera.::
“There are a lot of questions about me right now Cid Phoenix. I have to answer each and every one of them. And I do plan to start answering those questions. Monday Night Meltdown seems a good place to answer some of, if not, all of them.”
“Cid Phoenix, at Monday Night Meltdown I am making my return to Action Packed Wrestling. Win, lose or draw, I am going out there to give, you, my fans, everyone else watching and the APW the best I have to give. I am going to try and kick your head off. And, most importantly, perhaps even the most important of all, I am going out there to prove why I am simply Amy Zing.”
::Amy allows herself to smile again.::
“So Cid Phoenix, I wish you the best of luck and I will see you in the ring.”
::The scene fades out on “the Hong Kong Sensation” Amy Zing, smiling.::
::Inside the Quebec City Arena, Meltdown is hours away. The ring and set have been built. The lighting and pyrotechnics are all in place. Except for wrestlers, APW personnel, arena staff and police, the building is empty.::
